    control, self-analysis, self surrender.

    Such a science to harness the will, calm the mind and

    steady the emotions, still not loosing the sharpness of

    intellect is the key to human progress. Yoga is the right

    science to improve the quality of life and bring health and

    harmony not only to individuals alone but the society as a

    whole. it is a conscious process for raising us from animalinstincts to normal discrimination and elevating us to

    manifest the immense potentialities dormant in us and this

    brings about a changed out look in us and make us.

    Spiritually awakened and thus there is a

    holistic health.

    Yoga ideology believes that mans life is based on

    physical, mental moral, emotional, social and spiritual well

    being simultaneously. Any ill health means there is a

    disharmony in all these levels in the living organism

    leading to functional imbalance.

    Yoga as a therapy is based on four important concepts

    -

    Ahar - Diet

    Achar - Code of conduct,

    behavioural pattern.

    Vichar - Thought process.Vihar - A balanced programme to

    handle the body mind

    complex with rest,

    relaxation and recreation.

    Yoga teaches us that wisdom is not just accumulation

    of knowledge. True knowledge is learning everything that

    is worthwhile and forgetting everything that is worthless.

    This is wisdom-Jnana.

    Share this knowledge with others who deserve it. Offer

    free to those who are poor and offer in exchange to rich

    people. Thickness is not money alone. It means

    confidence, compassion and courage, Love, Laughter and

    learning, give these to those who need. This is Dhana.

    Extend to others the right to life and live a life of

    righteousness. Respect of justice and sentiment, regard for

    morality is Dharma.

    Do duty not for happiness but with happiness. This

    planet belongs to all and no one has monopoly over it.Understand the difference between liberty and licence. If

    we have right we have duties too. This is Karma.

    Be positive. Face all situations with a feeling of

    calmness, sense of detachment. Every problem hides a

    solution with in, meditate on it and the light will dawn.

    All these virtues are the out come of yoga thus it helps

    us to integrate the personality and steadying the mind aneducational process affecting the physical, mental, spiritualaspects of ones personality. On the physical plane yogaasanas are selected which affect the nervous system bymanipulation of the spine, or that cause mild abdominalcompression enhanced through respiratory co-ordination.Thus improving the nutrition and elimination. Yoga hygieneremoves the toxic substances and helps in maintaining abalance. Breathing techniques helps in bio energy controland establishes emotional control. On the psychic sidegiving up of narrow selfish out look and a belief in a higherreality, change in motivations, values and attitudes are thechanges that come thus giving an all-round development.

    This is the holistic effect of yoga on living organism.
