In a corresponding 106-page report, Shashi and 49 other trailblazers areprofiled and recognized for their contributions to the modernization and digitization of theelectric industry.

The Secondary School at Las Canadas is a unique educational facility that strives to readychildren for healthy, productive, simple, and sustainable lives in rural Mexico. The school’salternative curriculum incorporates the principles of permaculture, agriculture, animalhusbandry, carpentry, food preservation, soil conservation, and wilderness restoration. Art,music, history, yoga, and communication skills are offered as supplementary disciplines.

A saving grace to families living within the cooperative, the Secondary School caters tostudents who would otherwise have to travel to Huatusco for a similar education—anexercise and expense that is prohibitive for most. In May 2013, the Apex Foundationapproved a grant of $2,500 for the Secondary School, which funds 21 students spreadacross three grade levels. This grant was provided in keeping with the foundation’s missionto provide social assistance to children and adults in need, and help people achieveself-reliance for a better life.

The Foundation’s grant enabled the school to make significant structural upgrades includingsolar-powered battery and electricity, new tile flooring, and the resurrection of a secondbuilding that now functions as an open-air classroom, dining room, and kitchen. Remainingfunds from the grant were used to create an area for people to socialize in front of theschool, as well as a vegetable garden and playing field complete with stadium seating. Allimprovements utilized eco- technologies and sustainable, recycled local resources.

Alan and Paula Wright, both English teachers at the Secondary School, were incrediblyappreciative of the generous grant. In a note of gratitude, they said, “I want to thank you foryour trust and generosity. I know that there is much need in the world and not enough fundsto go around. You have to make difficult and strategic decisions about how to employ yourfoundation's resources. I am confident that this school will make important contributions tothis community, and that the Foundation's gift has launched the next stage of itsdevelopment.”

On Aug 15, 2013, to celebrate our Independence Day, we organized a get-together dinnerparty in Krishna Park at Rajkot. ASP celebrated its 15th anniversary celebrations on 7th November at Sri VenkateswaraVignan Mandir, Guntur. All the staff and their family members were assembled at 4:00pmto enjoy the day. The event began with a beautiful prayer song.

Mr. B. Venugopal (Director—STPI) was the chief guest of the function, and Mr. G. V. S. L.Kantharao (Chairman—Crane group) was the guest of honor. In their speeches, eachshowed appreciation for Narendra Kumar on his brilliant leadership throughout this 15successful year's journey. Mr. Kantharao led the parents and spouses of employees into atimeline on how ASP and Apex Covantage came together and will continue working inconcert. Mr. S. Narendra Kumar (Executive Director—ASP) and Mr. K. R. P. Saradhi(Executive Director—ASP) also presided over the function.

ASP management greatly honored its long-standing employees, those who havesuccessfully completed 10 years of service. Many of them are at ASP from its inception.

Topper Prizes were distributed for the best performers of the year 2012-13, as well as for

Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadan and is often done as a community,with people gathering to break their fast together. Iftar is taken right after Maghrib time,

which is around sunset. Traditionally but not mandatory, three dates are eaten to break thefast in emulation of the Prophet Muhammad, who broke his fast in this manner. ManyMuslims believe that feeding someone Iftar as a form of charity is very rewarding and thatsuch was practised by the Prophet Muhammad.
