Clinical pharmacology

Objective Structured Practicals (OSP) and discussions of clinical cases are conducted.

Ethnopharmacology unit

We have Ethnopharmacology lab, the thrust area of research in our country.

Traditional medicinal plants, mentioned in Charak Samhitha and others are screened for

their active ingredients and use, as there are no scientific data available for their use,

mechanism of action and side effects.

Neuropharmacology unit

Department of Pharmacology

We have Neuropharmacology Unit, where we undertake research on psychotropic drugs,

another thrust area of research.

Experimental pharmacology unit

All Postgraduate research and experimental techniques are conducted here.

Pharmacovigilance cell

To monitor adverse drug reactions in patients of our hospital .

The first step taken is “Awareness Programme” to all health care professionals of our

institutions and general practitioners who are not associated with medical institutions.

Animal house

CPCSEA APPROVED, AIR CONDITIONED ANIMAL HOUSE, BEARING REG

NO: 347.

Department of Pharmacology

Library

o We have rare books on ethnopharmacology like Charak Samhita

o No. of Books: 163 as on 31.07.2015.

Museum

o Displays charts and drugs used in patient care.

o Students are made to visit this regularly during their practical hours and enabling

them to correlate the lecture topics taken.

o Invite school children & educate them of misuse of drugs
