PBIS puts emphasis on school-wide proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school and classroom environments.

Introducing, modeling, and reinforcing positive social behavior is an important step of a student's educational experience.

Teaching behavioral expectations and rewarding students for following them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding.

The purpose of school-wide PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm.

Yellow House will continue to pursue the district’s goal of helping all students achieve their target learning goals.

Throughout each unit of study, learning targets will be emphasized.

Grading Policy

Page 7: Yellow House

At the end of each unit, students will complete summative assessments that evaluate the knowledge and skills they gained from the unit.

Grading Policy

Page 8: Yellow House

While traditional homework and quizzes may not be graded, they will be recorded and monitored in Infinite Campus (with a weight of 0%) so that students and parents can track learning.

Grading Policy

Page 9: Yellow House

It is imperative to recognize that, while the majority of work completed in and for class is not graded, un-graded work does not signify unimportance.

Grading Policy

Page 10: Yellow House

Every assignment and assessment relates directly to the learning targets students are expected to master.

Grading Policy

Page 11: Yellow House

Completing homework/classwork etc. enables the students to be better prepared for the final summative assessment.

A student who does not complete homework/classwork will find it difficult to master the required learning targets.

Grading Policy

In order to help improve our reading levels this year, we will be doing two types of independent reading:

D.E.A.R. and at-home reading logs

Page 23: Yellow House

D.E.A.R. is an acronym for “Drop Everything and Read.”

To help achieve this goal, we will read almost every day for about 10

minutes in our LA Block class. You must bring a D.E.A.R. book (chapter book) with you to every

class. The book you choose is completely

up to YOU!

Page 24: Yellow House

At-Home Reading Logs:

Each Friday, you will receive an at-home reading log.

Your job is to read for at least 20 minutes at least

4 times a week.

The more reading you do, the better! Any type of reading is encouraged.

You are required to have a parent or guardian sign your reading log each night. These logs are due every Friday.
