On 19th July, 2017 the students of IB2
visited the factory site at East India Pharmaceutical Works
accompanied by three senior school teachers: Mrs. S. Chamaria,
Dr. R. Auddy and Mr. A. Deb. It was an academic collaboration trip
between the Science and Business students.
A special assembly to celebrate the French National Day was organised by the students of class 8 on 21st July. While Suryaansh Basumallik and Veda Jain gave an introduction to the French National Day and its historic significance, Sumedha Halder, Jahnavi Garg, Arush Pant, Evanna Lee and Valerie Chen with Tanvi Sengupta on the Keyboard rendered the French National Anthem, “La Marseillaise”. The students in the audience learned about the celebrations held in France through a slideshow and their knowledge about France was tested through a brief quiz at the end.
The Pro-Social Peer Moderator Program was held on July 27th, 2017 at Fortis Hospital, Anandapur.
The Pro-Social Peer Moderator Program is a unique platform for students to learn application based life skills through the medium of interactive workshop. 6 students from grade 9 went for this workshop, accompanied by Mr. K. Saha
On 21st and 22nd July, CIS participated in the first ever nature club fest hosted by La
Martiniere for Boys Genesis. Akrish Jhaveri and Anoushka Saraf were the student
representatives. There were several schools participating and CIS proudly won the trophy
for second runners- up

Confluence, the annual fest organized by Calcutta International School on the 14th and 15th of July 2017 was a huge success this year. As always, its aim at showcasing talents from our own school as well as participating schools across the city was fulfilled to a great extent. With 10 schools participating in 25 events, ranging from Football, Basketball, Chess to nerve wracking Quiz, Shark Tank to Humanities Meet, Innovation and the more extravagant fashion show, western dance, CIS witnessed more than 500 participants competing for the top prize.
The Calcutta International School, secured the top prize, but graciously relinquished it to Sushila Birla Girls High School who grabbed the top prize followed by La Martiniere for Boys finishing close runners up. The event concluded with top city rock stars Underground Authority.

Grade 6 students did a Physics Experiment on Friction. The students
were provided with different types of surfaces, where they rolled their toy
cars to measure and calculate the speed of the moving car. The learning outcome was to observe
how friction affects a moving object.

and Educational Research).
This organisation has been
actively involved in promoting
inclusive education for
underprivileged and
marginalised children. During
their first visit the CIS students
learnt about the work of this
institute and also met few
children living and studying
there. As a part of their,
Community Outreach
Programme Grade 6 will create
small learning modules and go
back to the Institute on a later
date and help the IPER
children learn.
Class 6 worked on a project to commemorate
the French National Day also known as Bastille Day.

Dr. Nath was invited by ASSOCHAM to address in the summit on
“Transforming Lives through Education and Innovation” which was
presided by Union Secretary of Education and Literary Mr. Anil Sharma
at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata
