    Gold Fields Mining Corpeiration (GFMC) is aC:tivel,r conductiilg a tp~neral .'?xploration program in the general vicinity of Glamis, Imperial ·countt, California. These prospecting operations are being conducted in.. accordan.:e with an approved SLM Plari of Operations. li1 order to fuHy assess the miner1l potentia·1 of the exploration area, GFMC desires to conduct minera·l prospecti:lg

    operation~ on· certain state lands· described' as Sectfon 16', Towr.shfp 13S, Rarr9.~ 20E, S·~B.B.M. The mineral prospecting operations proposed for state lands are considered by GFMG .to be essantial to evaluating the mineral poten,tial of t;1e

    area. Shou.ld the exploration prove the exist.e11ce of an economically rn1i1c:ab le or·e bo'dy, GFMC wocld look to enter .into a mining lease for the property.

    If ·th~ prospecting permit fo~ state lands is approved, GFMC will cond~ct a multiple ·activity exploration program during the term of the permit. The two exp lor.i tion ::ct iv it i es proposed for this program are geophysi ca 1 sul".VC\~ work and a dr~lling program. These two activities ·Will be discussed in the balance of :this project description. Surface sampling, a co1mnn exploration t~chnique, is . no-: proposed for this prqgram because tile entire area is. r~erlaid by Qravels •

    A var'lety of geophysical test work may be accomp 1 i sh~d as a part of the p:--ospecting progrc:m. The techniques which are current1J being considere:d foclude: Electrical Self-Potential; Gravity; Magr::!tics; Electrical f.esistivity;·~and, Controlled Sources Audio-Magneto TeJ]u:-ics.

    The required equipment for all of the above geophysical prqspecting t:?chniques wi11 be carried t'J the area of use by truck or by "foot. n.e equipment is highly portable and, consequently, no new access is required to

    cJnduct these programs. In fact, the geophysical surveys proposed to be 9s~d
