Brief
Produce initial design proposals for the 2012 Graduate Year book that communicates the diverse, creative and professional quality of the work produced on the BA (Hons.) Graphic Design Programme

Concept
Our concept is based around the theme of numbers. This comes from the idea that our course years are from 09 to 12, there are 52 designers, 4 tutors, the 4th graduating year and also numerous visiting professionals. These numbers will represent key points in our degree whilst also breaking up the content.
We want the design to be very typographically based.
Cover
The cover will be predominently white with a white spot varnish for the 0912 type. We think this would look crisp and represent the standard of work on the course. Along with the white a spot fluroescent orange will be used subtly throughout the publication and used on the edging of the year book.

Layout
The grid will take the form of a 6 coloumn grid. There will be limited titles for each student’s copy but the copy will be located together for the reader to digest.
Photography
We decided that we would incoporate each designer with their work for the photographs making it a more personal approach so the work can be associated to its designer. There would also be some close up shots of selected pieces of work.
Page Numbers
Keeping the number concept consistent, we have numbered each page in the place where the number would be in a chronilogical order so that when the reader flicks through the pages there is a visual movement.

Other deliverables
Along with the year book we have thought about the idea of a CD which could be given out as well with a PDF version of the year book available for download from the college website for people to look at on screen.
