Rastrick High School: Home Learning
Year 7 Spanish
Booklet 4: Half-Term 6 (lessons 7 - 14)
Retrieval &
recall
This booklet covers content for the final 4 weeks of this half-term.
Answers & instructions for all tasks are provided.
La revisión: The purpose of this booklet is to revisit the topics we have studied over the course of this
academic year. However, this time, you will not be using the Subject Knowledge Organisers
or Sentence Builders. The aim of this booklet is for you to develop your RECALL and
RETRIEVAL skills through revisiting activities and work you completed throughout the year
(i.e. are you able to complete activities based on what you can remember from the topics?)
This is an important skill when learning a language, and will help you in your future study!
This booklet is not a test, but you are testing yourself on what you have studied this year. If
you find that you are struggling, you are able to revisit your Subject Knowledge Organisers
and Sentence Builders, but this should only be a last resort!
The topics we will revisit this half-term are:
• Free time activities
• School
• Physical & personality descriptions
• Town
• Family & personal information
Towards the end of this half-term, you will also complete some pre-loading work, to prepare
yourself for the first topic in Year 8. This will be based on the topic of “holidays”.
Answers will also be provided so that you are able to mark your work and check your
progress. If a task has no answer, this means that there are any number of possible
answers to the task – all of which would be correct.
Before completing the main tasks below, make sure you have practised the
vocabulary and structures from your Subject Knowledge Organisers. I
suggest doing this through Quizlet (see previous booklets for the links/QR
codes). Alternatively, create your own flashcards or mind-maps to aid
revision.
Lesson 7 – School
Objective: Can I retrieve key information to describe my school & my studies?
IN&ON: Choosing a word from each box, write 5 correct sentences in Spanish. As extension,
then translate these into English.
Task 1: Listen to the audio (also available on ClassCharts) and fill in the missing letters to
complete the words. You should play the recording at least twice.

Task 2: Using the information below, spend 5 minutes making notes on forming present
tense verbs in Spanish. This recap will help you for your next tasks.
Task 3: Using the previous tasks and your knowledge from previous lessons, translate the
red words into Spanish to complete the paragraph. As an extension, to practise key
vocabulary, can you then translate the full text into English?
Mi school se llama Rastrick High School. Es quite grande y there are unas clases
modern, un gimnasio and una piscina small. Creo que my insti es very interesting y
moderno. Al insti, I study ciencias, maths e inglés every los días. Also, mis friends y yo
we study español, music e historia. Me like las ciencias because mi teacher es kind.
Pero no me gusta at all el inglés porque mi profe is bastante strict. Mi día favourite es
el Monday porque I study informática y DT por la morning y por la afternoon geografía.
During el break, juego al fútbol with mis amigos y sometimes como un sandwich. ¡Me love
mi insti!
Task 4: Using the comic strip template below, describe your school. Include descriptions
about your: teachers, subjects & facilities. Also include: opinions, connectives, intensifiers
and (for challenge) times to describe when you do something at school.
Lesson 8 – Town
Objective: Can I retrieve key information to describe my town?
IN&ON: In Spanish, using the prompt words given, describe what you can see in the picture.
Task 1: Before practising how to tell the time in Spanish. How many numbers 1-25 can you
remember?
Task 2: Spend 5 minutes making notes on the key vocabulary related to telling the time. You
use ‘son las’ followed by the hour you need:
• It is… = son las
• It is 11 o’clock = son las once
• It is 9 o’clock – son las nueve
*es la una = it is 1 o’clock
- In Spanish, rather than saying ’10 past 9’ or ’20 past 9’; you say ‘9 and 10’ for 9:10 & ‘9
and 20’ for 9:20.

- When saying ’10 to 9’ or ’20 to 9’, it is more difficult. You must go to the next hour &
deduct the minutes until you get to the time you need. For example, for ’10 to 9’, you
must say, ‘9 minus 10’ (nueve menos diez). For ’20 to 9’, you must say ‘9 minus 20’
(nueve menos veinte). The clock below & slides on the PowerPoint should help you to
understand this further.
Task 3: Using the explanations above, write down, in Spanish, the times shown by the 6
clocks below.
Task 4: Read the 3 texts from Ana, Pedro and Juan. Write down the correct name that
corresponds with the 10 statements below. For challenge, translate text A into English.
1. Lives in Sevilla
2. Never goes to the park
3. Sometimes goes to the bowling alley
4. Goes to the beach at 8:15
5. Is always active
6. Thinks the park is great
7. Isn’t busy on a Friday
8. On Friday goes to the cinema
9. Goes to the beach with friends
10. Drinks coffee on Saturday
Task 5: Using the example below as a model, you are writing to your Spanish pen-pal to
describe what your town is like, as well as what you do in your free-time in town.
You must describe: where your town is; its size & your opinion of it; what is & isn’t in your
town; the activities you do and the times at which you do these.
Ejemplo: Vivo en una ciudad grande, Huddersfield. Me encanta mi ciudad ya que pienso que es
muy bonito porque está en el campo. Hay mucho que hacer, hay una piscina pequeña, un cine y
una bolera grande. Pero no hay un estadio. Los sábados, a las tres, voy a la playa con mis
amigos. También, todos los viernes, a las cuatro menos veinte, voy de compras al centro
comercial con mi madre.
Lesson 9 – Activities & the weather
