• Read the instructions carefully.

• Do your best. Complete the learning as well as you can. If you are not sure, have a look at the answer document for help.

• If you are really stuck, email your teacher and they will do their best to get back to you.

• If you don’t understand a word, use the glossary (at the end of the textbook) or the vocabulary section (at the end of each chapter) to help. Ask a friend or a family member. Use the answer sheet.

• Take care with your learning. Underline titles. Add dates. Use two colours of pen. Space things out. Be proud of the learning you are doing.

• Try to learn your vocabulary regularly. Aim to do a few sessions of about 10 mins each week. The more regularly you do it, the more confident you will be.

• If you finish the learning quickly , or would like to learn more French or more about French culture, look at the extension ideas document on moodle. THE EXTRA RESOURCES ARE OPTIONAL!

• If you are proud of something you have done, send a picture to your teacher. They will enjoy reading it even if they can’t always reply!

• On Moodle you will find an ‘answer document’ that goes with the learning.

• Each task has the answers written in - check them when asked to - but for many tasks there is also more explanation + guidance if you are stuck.

Core:

1. Write the title ‘Chapter 5 - Mon Quartier’ and ‘Places in a town’ into your book.

2. Copy out the vocabulary under ‘places in a town’ into your book.

3. Go to Quizlet and practice the ‘places in town vocabulary’ for 15 mins . Try to complete the learn mode!

Best:

Think about what places there in a town near you that AREN’T on our list. Use a dictionary to find an extra 5-10 extra places in French. Highlight whether they are masculine or feminine!

Following on from the vocabulary in last lesson, write the title: ‘5.1 - Deux îles’ and today’s date

Core:

1. Go back to Quizlet and test yourself quickly on the vocabulary you were learning in the last session. Write your mark into your book.

2. Copy out the grammar box on page 76 of the digital textbook, using RED for the English.

3. Complete exercise 3 p76 into your book, linking together the two parts of the sentence with mais(but) or par contre(on the other hand). Check answers on answer document.

EXTENDED:

1. Complete the test as above, and then listen to exercise 1 on page 76. Complete into the back of your book and check your answers.

2. Complete the translation exercise 1 on page 86. Check and correct answers.

3. Read the texts in ex 4 p77, listening to them via the digital book at the same time. Notice how they are developing their language to make the descriptions better.

4. Complete exercise 5 into your book. Check your answers on the answer document.

5. Write a description of your town as in exercise 6, trying to link your sentences together and giving good detailed descriptions.

Extension:

Access the extension worksheet on adjectives and position of adjectives on Moodle.

1. Under the title ‘Activities’ and today’s date, copy out the vocabulary on page 93.

2. Go to Quizlet and practise the vocabulary on there so you know it well. Try to spend 15 mins and complete the learn mode!

Extended:

1. Complete 1 and 2 above

2. Go to page 78 in the textbook and listen to exercise 1. Write down the first 5 phrases you hear (starting each with ‘on peut even though they don’t say it) in French and translate into English.

3. Look at the ‘Ici on peut’ sentences on the next slide and see if you can work out where you could do each of those activities. You might have to learn some new places in town! Complete into you book.

5. Write 3 sentences about 3 different places there are in a town that you enjoy going to. Try to make your sentences as detailed as you can. Here is a somewhat silly example:

Dans ma ville il y a un grand aquarium où on peut voir des requins. J’aime aller au aquarium avec mes amis parce que c’est amusant de nager avec les requins, mais quelquefois c’est un peu dangereux.

4. In my town there is a cinema where you can watch a film. I like to go to the cinema with my family when it is raining.

5. I like going to the skatepark with my friends at the weekend but when it rains I prefer going to the shopping centre.

Complete any remaining work from the previous sessions or have a go at some of the extension projects!
