Yammer is a private social network that gets you connecting to the right people, sharing information across teams, and organizing around groups. What’s more, using the Yammer network helps build a body of knowledge that’s instantly accessible by any coworker at any time and from any device.In this module, you’ll learn how to:• Sign in to the Yammer network• Edit your Yammer profile

Set up your Yammer account so you can start using Yammer to communicate, collaborate and share information.
1. Go to www.yammer.com.2. Enter your organization’s email
address. For example, enter [email protected]’ll soon receive a confirmation email to activate your account.
3. To complete the setup, click the web address contained within the email, which automatically goes to your organization’s network.
4. If you want, complete the new user sign up steps that automatically appear on your screen.
The next time you sign into Yammer, you go directly to your organization’s network.
Edit your Yammer profile
Your Yammer profile helps coworkers learn more about you and your work experience, while helping them put a face to a name. Yammer also uses your profile information to help make connections and strengthen your organization’s social network. In this module, you’ll learn how to:• Edit your Yammer profile

department, location, expertise, contact information and any other details you think would be useful to your coworkers.

If you find something interesting and valuable, say so. When you "Like" a message, the person who posted the message will receive a notification that you liked it. Use "Like" to indicate agreement with an idea, acknowledgment that you’ve seen a message, or just to let someone know you enjoy what they’re saying.
1. Click a Group that interests you in the Groups list. Tip: Most organizations have an All Company group that you already belong to by default and that’s a good starting point.
2. Browse the list of posts and conversations.
3. When you see a post or conversation that piques your interest, click Like.

Accentuate the positive: Praise someone

Everybody loves a compliment. When you praise someone, focus especially on messages where employees are sharing business knowledge, skills, or sales successes.
1. Locate the row of icons towards the top of the page, and then click Praise to display the Praise dialog box.
2. If you want, click the Attach icon to attach a file
3. Enter the name of the person you want to praise. You can enter more than one.
4. It’s a good idea to add other people to notify them, such as their manager and their teammates.
5. When you are finished, click Post.

3. In the Apps page, scroll down to locate MyApps, and then click Topics.
Content is classified by Yammer into topics, which are wider subject areas that act as an index across the Yammer network. Topics help you keep up with information that matters to you regardless of which group the information is in.

MyApps, and then click Topics.4. Select any topic of interest, and then
click Follow.The next time you use Apps , you can see the current set of topics you are following.

3. In the People Directory page, locate the person you want to follow, and then click + Follow.
When you follow someone on Yammer it means you want to see messages from them in your feed. You can search for people by name using the search box, or you can scroll through the All Company group and follow someone that’s posting content that interest you.

person you want to follow, and then click + Follow.
NOTE: The topics and people you follow will show up in your feed, which is your personal information hub.
Join a group
Groups are a great way to get work done with a team or to stay informed about a topic. The All Company group is the default group everyone posts into—you’re automatically part of this group. Most groups are public and easy to join, but some are private and require approval.In this module, you’ll learn how to:• Join a group

Reply to a message and post a message to a group to further the dialog, provide useful information or insight, ask questions, provide answers, and highlight best practices for others to see. Replying and posting also encourages contributions from your coworkers.In this module, you’ll learn how to:• Reply to a conversation• Post a message

Browse the group postings and then reply to a conversation to have a dialog with other group members.
1. In the Groups list, click a group that you have joined.
2. Scan the list of posts and conversations within each post, both of which are listed from newest to oldest.
3. When you see a conversation that you want to respond to, click Reply.
Tip When there are already several replies, make sure you are replying to the right person, either the one who posted the original message, or another person who has replied. When you reply, Yammer tells you who you are replying to at the top of the Reply box.
4. Enter your reply, and then click Post.

Now it’s time to post your first message by sharing something useful, interesting, and likely to spur more conversation.
1. In the Groups list, click a group that you have joined.
2. At the top of the group, click Update, and then enter a message.

Who’s the expert? Where’s the information I need? How can I answer my question? Before I create a group for my needs, is there already one out there? Sounds like you need to use Search to quickly locate people, files, topics, and groups.
1. In the top navigation bar, in the Search bar, click "Search for people, groups and conversations".
2. As you type the search term, a likely list of categorized results is displayed.
3. If you don’t see the results you are looking for, click See all search results.
4. Browse the complete search results, which are categorized by tabs.

Find answers fast: Use the feedThe feed helps you keep in touch and up-to-date. There are three feed views that you can move between:• Top This is a feed of the conversations
most relevant to you, based on what you subscribe to and your interactions with Yammer network content.
• All These are all the conversations for which you have access within your company network.
• Following These are the conversations you actively subscribe to, including conversations that your followers have participated in or liked, conversations that have been tagged with a topic you follow, and conversations that have been posted in one of your Groups.

who has gone above and beyond. • Join 3 groups of interest to you.
Make sure one of them is a hobby or something fun to do.
• Spend 20 minutes a day scanning your feed to stay up-to-date
• When you have a question, use Yammer search to locate the information or coworker to get the answer.
Tip Prefer to use the keyboard? When you are in Yammer, type a question mark (?) to see the keyboard shortcuts.

Tips & Tricks: Make an AnnouncementAnnouncements are a way for group admins to share need-to-know information with the group. Members see the announcement in a banner on their Home Feed and in a Message in their Inbox. Network Admins can make an Announcement in any group, including All Company, which also generates an email to all network members.1. Click Announcement.2. Type a title for your announcement,
