Top Story Welcome to Week 5 of Term 4
This week year 3 are heading off to Camp Koinonia with Mrs Edwards, Miss O’Shea, Miss
Sue and Hughie. Hopefully everyone will have a great time and come back with lots of
interesting stories.
Next week year 5 will be having a week away at Lake Ainsworth and in week 7, year 6 will
be travelling to Canberra. All of these excursion take an enormous amount of work and I am
very grateful to the staff involved for giving up their time away from their families to
provide this opportunity for our students.
Last week we received notification that Mr White’s demountable is being re-located to
another school. Mr White’s class will be moving into the room currently occupied by Miss
Newby. The demountable was previously ear marked for removal at the beginning of the
2018 school year so we have been fortunate to be able to maintain it as a teaching space
for the majority of the year.
The office staff are currently examining the
possibility of moving to an e-newsletter in 2019.
The e-news platform will provide greater flexibility
in preparing the newsletter and providing parents
and carers with access to videos, links ,
downloadable high quality photos and permission
notes. The e-newsletter is easily assessable on all
devices such as phones and tablets. Parents/carers
would receive an email similar to the photo on the
right, advising them that the e-newsletter was
available via an embedded link.
Parents/carers will have the option to receive a hard copy of newsletter which will be a
simplified version of the e-newsletter. As mentioned we are currently in the preliminary
stages of investigation and more information will be provided at a later date. If anyone is
interested in having a look at the e-news version please visit Gulmarrad Public School’s
website and click on the newsletter link. Continue over page….

Yamba Public School knows that life can get busy
with young children.
The school now has Sentral installed, which helps
track student attendance. Its as easy as one click if
you have forgotten to inform the school of your
child's absent.
Every week unexplained absent notifications are
sent via SMS or email to parents. All you need to do
is reply with a short comment of why your child is
absent from school.
LATE to School
With a lot of road work happening around the area
some of our school buses have been running late to
school.
Please let your children know that they need to
come via the office to be marked present at school if
they are late for any reason, otherwise they are
marked absent for the whole day when the teacher
completes their class roll at 9:05am
Knowing how to swim is a very important
part of living in Yamba, with so many
beaches and waterways.
Kindergarten to year 2 plus selected
students in year 3 to 6 will participate
in a two week swimming program at Yamba
Community Pool.
Date:
Monday 26 November to Friday 7 December
Cost:
$30 pool entry for the 2 weeks or season
pass welcome. Please have payment back to
office by Thursday 22 November.
Note:
Was handed out last week but you can
obtain one from school office
As a follow-up to our recent waste audit, ‘The War on Waste’, performers are conducting a series of short 45min
presentations at school on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Unfortunately not all classes will have the opportunity to view
the presentations due to time restraints. Thank you to the community members who were involved in helping organise this
opportunity for our students and building their awareness about the importance of looking after our environment.
This week year 6 students received their invitations for their farewell dinner. As previously advised the farewell is being
held at the Yamba Golf Club on Thursday 6th December from 6:00pm – 9:30pm. The cost is $15 per student and $27 per
adult. Tickets can be purchased from the front office up until the 23rd November.
