When refering to media, we will be exploring contexts such as music, visual art, dance, film and drama. We would ask you take time to discuss the learning log questions with your child over the coming weeks in ordert to help them to explore the key concepts of; - Function – how does it work? - Reflection – how do I know? Within the context of this unit we will be exploring ideas such as: - How is media used to activate our emotions? (function) - How can I manipulate media to activate other’s emotions (reflection, function) One person your child may be investigating early on in this unit is Nathan Sawayer, the Lego Artists. Here is a link to a task you could engage in with your child to help unpack the conceptual ideas we are exploring. During this period of time the students will be working to developing their mathematical knowledge and strategies in the areas of Multiplication and Division and Proportions and Ratios. They will also be inquiring into the mathmatical concepts associated with measurement and data handling within the context of the unit of inquiry. Kind Regards, The NIST Year Five Teaching Team
