Industrial Ventilation

Industrial fans are used in awide range of commercial andindustrial applications to providea healthy and safe environmentin which to work.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health(COSHH) Regulations are particularlyrelevant to industrial processes. Introducedin 2002 and amended in 2005 they requireemployers in all workplaces to controlexposure to substances to prevent ill health.Substances include adhesives, paints,cleaning agents, fumes from soldering andwelding, naturally occurring substancessuch as dust and biological agents such asbacteria and other micro organisms.

Effective ventilation has an important partto play in reducing these risks.

Xpelair offers a comprehensive range ofindustrial products and associatedventilation accessories and controls, whichcan be combined to design bespokesystems to suit a wide range of specificventilation applications.

Once a system is installed COSHHRegulations require it to be used andmaintained, so access for routine,documented inspection is also animportant consideration.

Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare)Regulations 1992 (section 6) and theassociated AcOP requires effective and

suitable provision is made so that everyenclosed workplace is ventilated by asufficient quantity of fresh air.

Although no maximum temperature isspecified in the Regulations, an acceptedzone of thermal comfort is between 16-24ºC.

Building design, shading, extract ventilation,destratification and air circulation can becombined to provide a comfortable, healthyworkplace environment.

The Xpelair roof mounted mixed flowvertical discharge roof XMV range is anideal solution for the ventilation of hightemperature applications up to 100°C,such as kitchens, in-store bakeries,school kiln rooms and a wide range ofindustrial processes.

Designed for horizontal installation onroofs, the XMV range features a uniquehigh performance aluminium-polyamidemixed flow impeller and twin-wall casingdesign. This construction and a motorlocated out of the air-stream means it canbe used with air-duct temperatures of upto 100°C.

The XMV range is available in sixdiameters from 225mm to 500mm all withIP55 Class F motors, safety thermaloverload protection and an integralservice isolator. The tough mouldings are manufactured in HDPE which is UVstabilised, resistant to all weatherconditions down to -30°C and, to meet regulatory requirements, is 100%recyclable.

By including a high velocity verticaldischarge pattern in the design of theXMV range, Xpelair has minimised the riskof extracted air re-entering the building.

A high performance range of roofmounted run and standby fans withbottom and side entry and horizontaldischarge. Duties from 0.07 to 1.05m3/sat FID. Ideally suited where powerful lownoise ducted ventilation is required.

Ideal where a duty standby fan isrequired, particularly where hygienestandards are critical: kitchens,restaurants, hotels, pubs, offices,factories, schools and shops.

Designed for roof installations whereinside space and access is at a premium,Xpelair XDRA units connect directly toextract ductwork. This can come through

the roof and connect to the underside of

the unit or alternatively, by moving ablanking plate, the duct can beconnected to the side of the unit.

Xpelair XDRA fans can be fitted directlyto a weathered upstand or plenum box.

Flexible casing and spigot dimensionsenable fitting to existing builder’s work inrefurbishment projects where standardsizes may not be suitable. Once fittedaccess for planned maintenance is fromthe outside with easy access to themotors. A range of run and standby andduty sharing controllers are available tosuit application needs.

The range is manufactured in zinc coatedcorrosion resistant sheet metal with30mm long spigot connections for easeof connection to ductwork.
