introductionThe Zefyr Group has more than 95 years experience in high quality ventilation engineering solutions incorporates technology and experience with natural ventilation products and installations dating back to 1918 through its incorporation of the ventilation division of H. H. Robertson (UK) Ltd. In 1993.

H. H. Robertson (UK) Ltd. developed the science of natural ventilation products and systems, which can be found in almost every country in the world.

In 1993, H H Robertson (UK) Ltd.’s Ventilation Division merged with Vogue Systems Ltd. to create Robertson Vogue, combining all of the expertise and knowledge they collected over the years Robertson Vogue become world leaders in Ventilation Solutions.

In 2001 the Zefyr Group incorporated the Robertson Vogue products and services including the complete H. H. Robertson (UK) Ltd.’s ventilation range to extend the market globally.

Natural ventilation is often applied to buildings that experience extreme, indoor working conditions in order to create as comfortable an environment as possible (whilst complying with building codes and regulations). The purpose of natural ventilation is to supply a building with fresh air while exhausting hot, stale air. Common reasons for choosing natural ventilation are as follows: ventilation systems increase energy saving which, in turn, help reduce costs; natural ventilation benefits the environment as it is often used as an alternative to air-conditioning plants (which can result in saving 10%-30% of total energy consumption) helping to reduce an overall carbon footprint.

Heat Mover VentilatorThe Zefyr “Heat Mover” ventilator is designed for removal of high heat problems for industrial buildings if structural limitations do not allow for heavier ventilators. The ingenious design combines quick installation with pre-assembled modules, low-profile design with high efficiencies giving high performance for an affordable price.

applicationThis ventilator is particularly suited for lighter weight applications where wind and dead loading factors are an important consideration in the overall building design and structural limitations do not allow the installation of larger types of ventilators. The “HM” has been full scale tested for airflow characteristics as an exhaust ventilator with a coefficient discharge of 0.47Cd that can deal with most general industrial heat problems. The units are fully weather proof and designed to have a long maintenance free life under the most arduous of conditions. As optional extras the ventilator can have acoustic treatment, dampers can be made operable (manual, electric or pneumatic), bird guard and insect mesh can be added.

Stramline ridge VentilatorThe “Streamline Ridge” ventilator range is designed to provide natural ventilation in buildings where nominal ventilation rates are required through solar gain, light engineering processes or general warehousing.

applicationThe “Streamline Ridge” ventilator has had aerodynamic performance testing independently verified by a leading test authority. Structurally and aerodynamically tested to produce the optimum coefficients of discharge to ensure maximum performance / minimum cost installations. The units are fully weather proof and designed to have a long maintenance-free life under the most arduous of conditions. The ventilator is able to withstand all weather conditions ranging from monsoons in the tropics to the icy rains of the Northern Hemisphere. As optional extras the ventilator can have acoustic treatment, bird guard and insect mesh can also be added. All units can be fitted with dampers to enable maximum control of the ventilator rates. The method of control can be manual cord, remote electric or pneumatic depending on the customer’s requirements.

Heights from 410mm to 820mm.Their low profile means that they fit unobtrusively onto any building. Merlin VentilatorThe Zefyr “Merlin” ventilator is specifically designed for fire ventilation that can be either wall or roof mounted. The Merlin is an operable louvered ventilation system and its main purpose is to exhaust smoke.

applicationThe “Merlin” ventilator has excellent day lighting characteristics obtained using durable, tough and UV light resistant triple wall polycarbonate material. Polycarbonate also retains its physical properties of strength and impact resistance down to extremely low and up to high temperatures. The body and blades of the ventilator can be manufactured with integrated aluminium foil-faced rigid foam to give a U value of 0.6W/m2C. The “Merlin” ventilation units are designed and tested to meet the requirements laid down in current codes of practice. Fire tests have been carried out at a leading UK Fire Research Centre in accordance with BS 7346: Part 1 1990. Climatic performance testing, in accordance with CP3: chapter V: Part 2. The smoke ventilation units’ meet the snow load requirements as laid down in BS 6399: Part 3. 1990. Rain and wind penetration tests have been carried out using Zefyr’s own laboratory facilities which include an outside weathering rig, vacuum rig and aerodynamic test chamber designed by Loughborough University department of technology. All testing has been carried out in accordance with BS 7346: Part 1 1990.As an optional extra the ventilator can have actuator systems (manual, pneumatic or electrical operation), bird guards, burglar guards, fusible link shields, closure flashings and windshields.

Swift VentilatorThe Zefyr “Swift” ventilator is specifically designed for fire ventilation that can be mounted to roof or wall. The vent is an operable flap ventilation system which primary use is to exhaust smoke. The roof unit is supplied as a two-part assembly; flat base to suit a pitch roof, or curb base to suit a flat roof and a builder’s up-stand.

Pressure release Panel VentilatorThe Zefyr “Pressure Release Panel” is a modern pressure release system that meets the current standard for external walls and is intended for buildings with high risks of explosion, for example; in gas-fired power plants with electrical switchgears, serving pressure release in case of an electric arc disturbance. The magnetic clamps fitted to the rotatable fittings keep the pressure panel folds shut during nominal working conditions, with the automatic opening of the folds by increased pressure.

applicationIncreased pressure is able to escape through the rotating panels to the outside and thus defending the building from damages. These folds then automatically close after the release of damaging pressure. We offer an operable option that allows control over internal conditioning through the changing seasons, climates and weather conditions. They also provide smoke ventilation in the case of emergencies such as a fire. These louvre systems can been specifically designed to allow airflow into buildings and, at the same time, stop any harsh weather conditions and elements in places which suffer from severe seasonal changes or strenuous weather conditions most of the year. As an option they can be fitted with bird guards and insect mesh to stop wildlife from entering. These louvres can be designed to have acoustic added to the system helping reduce the sound levels across the units. thunderbird louvreThe “Thunderbird” louvre is a high performance operated wall louvre system that gives control of airflow into a building. These systems consist of aerodynamic blades which profiles have excellent structural and aerodynamic characteristics to get such a high performance to make it a good choice for an industrial solution. The variable blades can either be horizontal or vertical to suit the particular application or architectural requirements. Being fabricated primarily from 2.5mm thick extruded aluminium the Zefyr Thunderbird Louvre is attractive and durable system that can stand the test of time.

applicationThe Zefyr “Thunderbird” louvre ventilation products are systems made from groups of operable blades, mounted in a frame. Designed for industrial usage, the main purpose of this system is to be able to control of airflow into the building whilst keeping out unwanted elements such as water, dirt, direct sunshine, noise and debris. This system can be fitted into most structures such as cladding and brickwork masonry, used either as individual units or multiple banks. As an option they can be fitted with bird guards and insect mesh to stop wildlife from entering.

eliminator louvreZefyr “Eliminator” Louvre systems have been specifically designed to allow airflow into buildings and, at the same time, stop any harsh weather conditions in places that suffer from severe seasonal changes or strenuous weather conditions most of the year. They can also be designed to repel the entry of dust and sand where these elements are natural hazards. An optional acoustic system, designed to suit each application to reduce the sound levels across the unit, is also available.

applicationZefyr Zefyr element eliminator louvre ventilation products are systems made from groups of fixed blades, mounted in a frame. The purpose of a louvre is to let in the required air whilst keeping out unwanted elements such as water, dirt, noise and debris. As an option they can be fitted with bird guards and insect mesh to stop wildlife from entering. Fitting into openings in masonry or mounting into vertical / horizontal cladding. They can be designed for three main applications:1. For the prevention of noise in and

out of the building2. For the separation of sand from

inlet air, for both natural and mechanical air inlet systems

3. For severely exposed sites where high resistance to weather penetration is required for air inlet

aestheticsZefyr louvre systems are clipped on front of the acoustic/stand trap/weather eliminator in a continuous format depending on the desired visual effect (Modular option is available). These systems offer a range of different louvred blades (Standard, Smoothflow and Roll-formed). These systems can be fitted with Zefyr Architectural Screening systems as an alternative to our louvre systems, please contact Zefyr directly for more information. Manufactured from aluminium, galvanised steel or stainless steel, the units are designed and tested to withstand the most arduous conditions over a long time period. acousticlouvreThe Zefyr “Acoustic” louvres are specifically designed to reduce noise levels with a wide range of products to suit each application depending on the customer-required performance. Our “Acoustic” louvres have been designed and texted to reduce the sound levels across the unit whilst allowing efficient airflow in to the building.

iNDuStrial WeatHer louVreS

applicationAcoustic performance has been independently proven to British Standards with a maximum noise reduction of 29.4dB for a frequency of 4000Hz. Airflow is calculated on data sheets in relation to free inlet area and pressure drop.The blades are spaced to suit each application in order to allow airflow into building and, at the same time, stop any weather ingress.

aestheticsEach louvre can be either assembled in factory or on site in multiple sized modules. Widths from 500mm to a maximum of 2000mm. Heights are varied depending on models used ranging from 590mm to a maximum of 3230mm. Louvre depths vary with models starting at 305mm and reaching up to 615mm.

Vogue PressedlouvreThe Zefyr “VPL” pressision formed louvre systems are designed to provide the maximum capacity air inlet with minimum louvre face area on the building. The “Vogue Louvres” are an operable louvre system, which are vertically stacked in a frame and designed not to protrude when fully open.

iNDuStrial WeatHer louVreS

applicationThe Zefyr “VPL” systems are made up of horizontal operable blades that are in boxes, which makes them suitable for applications where control of the airflow is required. The louvre system was designed to not to protrude from its framework. In the fully open position the louvre blades are contained completely within the framework and when closed they have minimum air gaps preventing heat loss and draughts. The main purpose of this louvre system is to allow the maximum air inlet for the minimum amount of louvre required - free inlet areas can be up to 75%.

aestheticsThese louvres can be installed as single units or banked either vertically or horizontally into cladding or brickwork. This specific design can be a desirable application for a louvre system as it is not very obvious when looking at building from the side that louvres are installed but still visually pleasing when viewed head on. With a wide range of finish and colour options available, the customer has the freedom and flexibility with the appearance of the system so it can be consistent with the rest of the building.

turret louvreThe Zefyr “Turret” louvers consist of louvre blades on the side of a turret often in the shape of a box, but can be designed to each customer’s required standards. These systems are position on the roof of a building concealing them from sight when viewed from the ground, giving the benefit of airflow for a building without affecting the buildings aesthetics.

applicationBlade design has been tested for structural and aerodynamic performance to provide optimum spanning and pressure loss characteristics. Louvre profiles have been fully proven in independent laboratories and in installations worldwide for structural testing, aerodynamic testing and weather testing. The blades are spaced to suit each application in order to allow airflow into building and, at the same time, stop any weather ingress.

aestheticsZefyr’s “Turret” louvre systems have a variety of options to change the visual impact of a building. We offer a collection Louvre blades (Standard, Smoothflow, Perforated, Rollformed or Bespoke) that can be made from a variety of versatile materials available (aluminium, stainless steel, copper) that can have wide range of finishes applied to help maintain high quality aesthetics (mill finish, PPC, anodised aluminium, pre-coated steel).

radiant Heat Shield louvreThe Zefyr “Radiant Heat Shield” louvers are design to change radial heat to a standard heat so that it can be exhausted from them building through ventilators. The radial heat shield consists of rows of vertically stacked louvre blades attached to the roof of a building.

applicationThe “RHS” is positioned above where the radial heat is being produced so heat shields are able to absorb the radial heat. Once the heat shield has absorbed the radial heat it can then be exhausted via natural ventilation. The airflow moving through the rows of louvres is able to cool down the heat shield and the air can be exhausted through a Ventilator.

aestheticsZefyr’s louvre systems have a variety of options to change the visually in the building. The option of two blades is available. The Smoothflow blade has a curved profile offer a distinctive smooth appearance opposed to the sharp profiles of the Standard blade that provide a clean, crisp effect. These systems can be made from either Aluminium, Steel or Stainless Steel and offer a wide range of colour, finishes and effect specifically for Aluminium, Steel and Stainless Steel to reach the requirements for any project specification.
