X-Com Battle Report

Commander in Charge: Mike Sjrslev Khamphoukeo.

Prelog:

I had to think about a quote from Arthur C. Clarke "Two possibilities exits: - Either we are alone in the

Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying".

It has been a while since I have been in command of any units since the accident, but that all seemed to

change with one single phone call. It was 10 PM and I just had a glass of single malt. Those Japanese really

know how to make some proper Whisky. That was when the phone rang. It was Admiral Meier on the

phone. We talked a little about the old days and then out of nowhere he asked if I was interested in being

in command again. At first I was not sure how to answer, but in the end I thought sure, why not. I did notknow at that time, that this would take me through a rollercoaster from hell!

The day after Admiral Meier and I met up at the headquarter where we went inside a conference room.

The monitor was on and I saw the silhouette of man. He introduced himself as the leader of a global

Consortium with the goal of protecting us if there were any extraterrestrial treats. I first thought it was a

joke. A prank that the guys were doing on me, but after a while I sensed that the man was serious. He

explained that this project, codenamed X-COM, would be the first and last line of defends if any "Mars

men", would start showing up and make trouble.

At first I thought to decline the offer, but then it just struck me. Something like that would never happen. I

would have a grave shift with a good pay and the only thing I had to do would be write reports that no

U.F.O. have come down for Christmas. HEHE. That would be a nice early retirement job, so in the end I

agreed on it. Of course I had to sign a lot of paperwork about secrecy and that I would end up in a hole in

Siberia if I told anyone about it.

A few days later I got onto a helicopter which took me to the secret base below middle Europe.

Schwarzwald, Germany.

I got introduced to my Second in command: John Bradford. A man in his late thirties. Brown hair, wearing a

turtleneck with the HQ symbol imprinted. A little stiff for my taste. From his accent I would guess he was

from the US.

The first few weeks was really nice and quietful. But then at around 19.00 28. Feb, we would not have a

quietful moment for a long time. Bradford woke me up and showed me a video feed from the national

news channel, ZDF. I thought I was still dreaming. A lot of dead people at the central of Cologne and a lot of

people in panic talking about UFO and aliens. My first thought was a terror attack from somewhere in the

middle east. So it would not fall into my jurisdiction, but after a recon team failed to report back, the higher

powers ordered me to send some of our top men to check it out.

Most of the men I was given were still recruits in training, so I had to send Cap Vorobyov, Stg Nismura and

two cadets: Davis and my brother cadet Simon S. Khamphoukeo to the site.

When I entered the resting area, he was still in his full gear. I still do not get why he had to paint it red. It

was like painting a Bull's-eye on his gear! And a Mohawk! I have no idea what our mother said when she

saw him with that, but I bet it was nothing nice.

When I got closer he stood up and just had this stupid smile on his lips, like nothing bad had happened. Hetold me that he had decided to specialize in heavy weapon from now on, so he was happy to hear about

the promotion to Squaddie. He handed in a sketch of the Alien that he saw in Cologne. After a little chitchat

through memory lane I got summoned to the Research lab to meet up with Dr

Christine Vahlen.

During the weeks I actually never have been to the research labs yet. All those

eggheads in there makes me a little uncomfortable. Dr Vahlen is person in her

middle thirties. Slim, brunette and some long hair bound in a knot in the back.

She speaks fluent English, but she also speaks German and French. She is

possibly from the Rhineland, a region that has historically been fought over bythe French and German people. Her accent often switches between French and

German, which would be typical of someone living in a place where both

languages have been used for centuries.

She introduced herself and cut immediately to the point of the meeting. The mission tonight brought a lot

of things that the lab could study. What she needed from me was the approval to start and also the focus

point.

I did not want a similar situation like today, where so many people got killed, so I gave the order to start

research for better protection gear for my people.

Before I could talk more to Dr Vahlen, the speakers alerted me that my present was needed in the mission

control room.

Bradford informed me that the Aliens were testing our response by abductions. Two countries were under

attack simultaneously and we only have the power to react to one right now. The first was in Baltimore,

USA and the other one in Shanghai, China.

I made my choice to help out the US first and see if we could be quick enough to response to the second

attack right after.

I got Bradford to choose the four man team that was going on the mission, and met with him at the hanger

to say a few words to the rookies before the departure.

When I entered the Hanger I could immediately see the red outfit of my brother. At least not all of the

teams were rookies, but I do not know if it was a good idea to get him onto the saddle right after he lost his

old team.

I was surprise to see that Simon was not the only one fond of makings his gear into one big bull's eye.

What I saw was a pink battle armor, with matching pink assault rifle. Where does the HR find these people!

Operation Severed Hammer

Location: Baltimore, United States

Mission Brief: Alien abduction in progress. Site is clear of civilians; collateral damage is not a

concern.

Mission Objectives:

Neutralize all hostile targets

Personnel : Sq. Khamphoukeo, Rk. Liljedahl, Rk. Jurkovskaja, Rk. Cordsen.

Report:

The Skyranger landed outside Baltimore at around O'200 hours. The site was a closed construction yard

with some sheds. Cordsen entered the nearest shed to look for cover, while Khamphoukeo took position on

top of the roof. The aliens, again these grey creatures, were spotted just below the shed on the other side.

The rest of the team were told to flank them, but hold fire.

Khamphoukeo was under heavy fire on the roof, but managed to take out one of the two aliens. Liljedahl

managed to get into position near a window, and killed the other one.

Noise further ahead made the team aware that these two may not be the only aliens here. Cordsen made

the first contact. 2 more small greys, who entered another building. They managed to get an hit on Cadet

Liljedahl. lucky for her, they had not a clean shot because of the suppressing fire, the other team members

laid. While the other team members gave Khamphoukeo suppressing fire, he used the time to load the

rocket launcher. it was a perfect hit, both aliens died in the explosion.

We need to take a closer look on that phenomena.

The team came back around 700 hours. Luckily none of the team members were killed, as in the last

mission. It was only a flesh wound for Rk. Liljedahl, so a few days of R&R should do it. She got a promotion

for her performance. She is starting her support training from now on.

Bradfort informed me a little later that the local satellites were up and running, so we can start monitoring

activities nearby. Got a glimpse of the news. Local fishermen in China have reported to have seen aliens,

which have created some panic throughout Asia.

The counsil congratulated us a little later on our first success and were eager to see much more of these.

Let's hope for all of us that it will continue this way.

2 March

Nothing has been happening in days and all the men are a bit on edge because of it. On the bright site, They

will have some more time training, and Dr Vahlen contacted me with news that the research on the alien

materials have moved forward. She was very eager to convince me into approving the research of Xeno-

Biology, as it, according to her, would mean that we would have a better chance against them. I guess

"know your enemy" is a good thing these days.

Cadet Liljedahl is back on her foot, but I let her ship the next mission, just to be sure.

Meanwhile, the engineering crow have finally gotten their equipment up and running and Dr Shen has

called to speak with me. Dr Raymond Shen. A man in his mid fifties. Glasses, slightly bald and grey hair.

Properly his ancestors are from China, he himself speaks fluent English. He informs me that they are readyto produce stuff, or as he said it "The research lab dreams it, we will produce it.

What I want first of almost is some protection for my soldiers, so when he mentioned that they could

produce Nano-Fiber vests, that would absorb some damage created by the alien weapons, I just asked

where to sign.

The counsil contacted the HQ today again. They had a mission for us. It seems that abduction is not enough

for these scumbags. It seems they are disposing some materials into the local environment. We are ordered

to check it out.

Cadet Ben Cassar, who is standing in for Cadet Liljedahl, came from Malta I believe, served in the Malta

army and later in the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Do not know where that is and do not care as long

as he does his job right. Bald guy with a weird complexion, but he looked like he was cut out for this job.

I have ordered the cadets to use the new Nano-vests, which have been developed. Sadly enough it takes

time to develop them so we only got 2 right now. Furthermore, the vests do not allow extra equipment to

be packed. What idiot designed these vests!!

Operation Blinding Shroud

Location: Paris, France

Mission Brief: Alien forces are in the area; witnesses report seeing multiple canisters of unknown

purpose. Civilians have been evacuted

Mission Objectives:


Locate and secure the canisters for analysis at HQ

Personnel : Sq. Khamphoukeo, Rk. Cassar, Rk. Jurkovskaja, Rk. Cordsen.

Report:

The team landed near the N13, at a resting place. Sq. Khamphoukeo found some of the alien canisters. Dr

Vahlen and Dr Shen have to take a look at that later. What Shen could say, is that the canisters are

equipped with an self-destruct mechanism. Easier disarmed, but that means that if we wanted all thecanisters, we had to move quickly. One of the small grey creatures (I think we should give them a name

soon) were spotted and quickly eliminated by Sq. Khamphoukeo inside a dinner. Sq. Jurkovskaja took the

high ground and eliminated another one, who tried to flank Rk. Cordsen. I am right, those colors on the

gear are just big target signs!!

Rk. Cassar showed some good judgment today. He cornered the last of the grey ones while Khamphoukeo

got to the next canister. He also waited for all the other team members to get into positions before he got

out from cover and took the killing blow.

A mission well done.

Jurkovskaja is up for an promotion as a sniper, after her skills in the last mission, while Cordsen have sign

up for heavy weapons (not a thing I would have guessed this surfer boy would be capable of). After the

team came back, Bradfort informed me that the Counsil had given us a new satellite. Need to send it up

ASAP to get it to good use.

I choose to launch it over China, as a patch for not protecting them last time. We need to get some fighters

moved over to china also, as the fighters to not have enough range from Europe. Dr Vahlen was quite eager

to get her hands on the canisters and do her stuff. The lab is still not sure what to call it, or categories it as.

4 March

I walked through the halls, when I heard some loud argumentation from the research lab. Dr Vahlen, Shen

and Bradfort were inside. It seems like Dr Vahlen and Shen tried to convince Bradfort that we needed to

capture those creatures alive from now on. To study them. I was nearly going to interrupt, when Bradfort

came to his senses and saw the possibilities of interrogation. Dr Shen assured that a facilitation that could

hold the aliens would be possible to be created. It just take some time. Dr Vahlen said that their Autonomy

and ours are somehow similar, and that we can neutralize them with a high voltage shock. The only

problem is that it has to be done in close range. The only thing we need to wait for now is that our lab

develop the "taser" to stun.

Dr Shen has summoned me to show me the schematics of the underground and gave suggestions were to

build the Interrogation facility. Iseems like the base has been build with expansion in mind, as the ground issolid enough to support 4 more ground levels.

6 March

The counsil has summoned me again. They have gotten info about some alien activities in a major German

city, which we have to look into.

Bradfort will gather the team. A new Rookie will join to get the experience. His name is Bo Andersen. Again

a Viking guy from Scandinavia. Slim in structure, blond hair. According to his record he has served a few

years in the Danish "Frkorps" (think it is the equivalent to Navy Seal). Think we can have good use of him.

Operation Dark Empire

Location: Berlin, Germany

Mission Brief: The invaders have placed a bomb in the area of operations to inflict maximum

destruction and panic.

Mission Objectives:

Deactivate the bomb before it goes off.

Delay the detonation countdown by deactivating the bomb's power sources.

Prevent reactivation by eliminating all remaining opposition.

Personnel : Sq. Khamphoukeo, Rk. Andersen, Rk. Jurkovskaja, Rk. Cassar.

Report:

At arrival at the site, a catholic graveyard, Dr Shen reported in, informing that the bomb has multiple

"bomb nodes" around the yard which sends energy to the bomb until it reaches critical mass. Shen also saidthat deactivating these nodes will help delaying the explosion, so new objective have been given to the

team. Jurkovskaja was the first to get eyes on the enemy, but with a sniper now equipped she did not hav

ethe time to take the shoot. Khamphoukeo got the first kill, just outside a mausoleum. Rk. Andersen went

to the doors and took a look inside. What he told me was that there were some slender man inside,

equipped with the same weapons as the grey aliens. One have to guess if these humans are working

together or actually are aliens themselves. Khamphoukeo approached the mausoleum, but got under heavy

fire from the thin man. Rk. Andersen took that opportunity to kill him / it with his shotgun. Meanwhile

Jurkovskaja showed good marksmanship and killed a grey with a headshot. Anderson got, a

little later, hit. Luckily just a smaller wound to his leg. Managed to shot the alien afterwards.

Andersen and Khamphoukeo got the bomb in sight and created a same perimeter before

approaching it. Khamphoukeo managed to disarm the bomb, but it seems that the aliens

wanted to retaliate for that. Several unknows showed up on the radar, so the team trenched

up. Rk. Cassar took out the first one, while Khamphoukeo shot the other one, but not before

it took a shot at Rk. Andersen. it hit the Nano-vest, so Andersen suffered only minor damage.

Operation ended at 1730 hours.

Andersen needs to get some R&R at the sickbay for some days after the mission, but both him,

Rk. Cassar and Sq. Khamphoukeo are up for a promotion. Both Andersen and Cassar have

signed up for Assault training. It has also been seen fit to give Corporal Khamphoukeo a medal,

"Urban Combat Badge", for his performance these last days.

A new Lab has been ordered to be build on the first level, to help Dr Vahlen speed up her

research, as she started the research of the weapon to stun the aliens, codenamed Arc

Thrower. It has the highest priority right now. Some of our interceptors have also been transferred to Asia,

to cover the area from UFO attacks.

10 March

Satellites have spotted a UFO flying over German territory. A small vessel it seems. Interceptor is scrambled

to the scene. With minimal damage our interceptor brought down the UFO. Satellites show that the ship is

still in one piece, so now we have to send it a team to check it out.

It is not a good idea to take a sniper with us, so Rk.. Jurkovskaja will ship this one. Sq. Andersen had some

medical examination to attend to, so I have cleared Sq. Liljedahl to join in again. Furthermore, one of the

other rookies seems ready to see some action. A polish guy by the name of Michael Artych, served in the

Jednostka Wojskowa GROM. Bald guy like Rk.. Cassar, but more of a joker to him. Well, every team have a

jester I guess.

Operation Vengeful Fist

Location: Essen, Germany

Mission Brief: XCOM Interceptors have splashed a UFO. Intel indicates some surviving crew. Alien

substance energy signature readings are positive. Exercise caution when engaging the enemy; thecraft may contain usable salvage.

Mission Objectives:

Locate the crashed UFO

Sweep the area for surviving crew and neutralize them

Locate and secure canisters

Avoid additional damage to the craft if possible; some components may be recoverable

Personnel : Cpl. Khamphoukeo, Rk. Artych, Rk. Cassar, Rk. Liljedahl.

Report:

Crash site was located quickly. It crashed in a dense populated area, so civilian lives needs to be protected.

We need to handle this quickly. Khamphoukeo located some of the alien substance quickly and approached

it. The buildings give a lot of cover for us, but could also hide aliens, if they are still alive. Three grey guys

showed up near the entry of the UFO and some kind of pure energy being, as Dr Vahlen called it, appeared

near the entrance of the Vessel. Khamphoukeo and Artych got both a grey quickly, while Liljedahl,

according to Khamphoukeo, did a 1 in a mio shot and took out the energy being. Right after Liljedahl got hit

by an grey. Cassar killed another grey nearby and again the other grey just died with it. Dr Vahlen needs to

figure out why some of them have this kind of connection and if there is a possibility to exploit it.

Liljedahl needs a few days rest again after the wound. Rk Artych is up for a promotion and a medal "UrbanCombat Badge" for his actions. He is signing up with the sniper group.

Dr Vahlens team has finished the development of the Arc Thrower. According to her it will emit a focused

electromagnetic pulse capable of confusing and incapacitating targets within a limited range. She also

warned us, as it is our first attempt with a non-lethal weapon, a lot of things can go wrong and some of the

aliens may be immune to it. While we wait for Dr Shens engineer team to make the Arc Throwers and

building a containment facility for the aliens, I have given Dr Vahlen green light to start experimenting with

the alien substance that we had recovered earlier.

16 March.

The new lab has been built and new eggheads are moving in. Got an urgent call from Dr Vahlen to meet her

in the lab. As I ran over there, I met Dr Vahlen and Dr Shen at the monitors. Vahlen informed me that there

has been a breakthrough regarding the alien substance found on different sites. it seems to be some sort of

Nano-technology. It had both living tissue and mechanical robots in all of the cell structures. Dr Shen

believes that with more research, these nanobot could be used to develop exoskeleton and other

mechanical benefits for the troops, while Dr Vahlen had a more drastic suggestion. To merge the soldiers

DNA with the nanobot to make some kind of bionic "Super Soldiers". What they both could agree on is to

call the alien substance, MELD, as something that melds to both genetic and cybernetic into one. It is up to

me to figure out how this new breakthrough will help us best against the aliens.

Dr Vahlen will start with the autopsy of some of the aliens that we have killed, starting with the grey

creatures, now called Sectoids.

20 March

According to Vahlen's notes of the Autopsy, the Sectoids are colnes of each others. They are fragtile, but

have larger than normal size brains. this high brain activity may be used for telepathy. This may also solve

the answer for why some of the Sectoids die when killing others nearby. They must have been in some kind

of connection with each other's while one of them got killed, which led to the death of the other Sectoid.

Dr Shen said that he may be able to use some of the corpses to develop an aiming system for the

interceptors. Need to see if we can finance this in the near future. The next autopsy in line will be the "thin

man".

While exiting the lab, Dr Shen approached me and told me that the holding facility for the aliens are

completed. So now we just need to catch a live one.

22 March

Vahlen is finished with the autopsy of the "Thin man". As feared, they are not human, but alien in disguise.

The only thing which the aliens could not replicate is the eyes, which are reptile like. Also, when killed, a

highly toxic is pumped out of the body. Dr Shen has figured out a way to manufacture this into our own gas

grenades. I guess it is time for Dr Vahlen to take a look at the aliens weapons technology, so we can start

getting an edge on them.

26 March

Members of the American medical community contacted HQ with a proposal. The want a chance to study

the Thin Man corpses which we have recovered so far. It is possible they'll uncover something we missed,

and they've offered to compensate us in return. They we asking for 2 corpses in the next 20 days. A deal

that I think is worth it, as Dr Vahlen already did her autopsy on these corpses.

Vahlen also created blueprints for Dr Shen's engineers for scopes to our weapons. She has been ordered to

look into what she calls "Experimental warfare.

There is only 6 days left for the first monthly report to the counsil. All has been quiet around here for now.

Maybe a little too quiet. Some new recruits have arrived earlier today. Think I will have a look at them and

welcome them to their new home.

Seems like they are getting along for now. But there is tension under the surface. It is difficult to get people

with different believes, cultures and backgrounds to work together. Seems like they have grouped together

into small groups for now. The Scandinavians have created a small group. The same with the polish guys

and the Russian chick. It is the cold war all over again. Maybe if I have Bradfort mix the teams a bit on the

next missions.. It is not productive if all of them do not have each other's back.

27 March

Got woken up at 400 hours. There has been sightings in France, South America and Australia. Why do they

have to attack at the same time. It seems that the aliens now that we cannot react to all of the at ones! As

London is at high panic level already because of attacks earlier this month, there is a good chance that thecouncil member from the UK will back off from the project soon, if we do not help out the EU, so I will send

a team to clean up Paris.

Bradfort have gathered a team together, with my instruction to "mix" it up a bit.

I am sending my brother in as the commanding officer, he has proven to be a capable leader in the

battlefield, even with his choice of gear and his lack of style.

Sq. Artych will provide sniper cover for the two new rookies that will be in the team.

First one is Cadet Pernille Lundsgaard. Has a Scandinavian name, but from the looks of it, she is from Asia.Slim, Black long hair. According to her records, she has been in Korea and served by the "Republic of Korea

Black Beret Commandos" for 6 years. Seems like a talented woman. Let's see how she is doing in the field.

The other cadet is from the United Kingdom: Rk. Kayode Shonibare Lewis. Tall, I guess around 6 feet. Dark

skin color and black semi long hair in dreadlocks. He seems more "hip" than a normal soldier. A little like

Sq. Cordsen, but you cannot judge the book by its cover it seems. He has served a few years in the Royal

army before joining the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS). Got a few medals from Iraq and Afghanistan,

but that does not mean shit here.

I have given Rk. Lundsgaard and my brother both an Arc Thrower and instructed them to try to capture an

alien alive, but not by any means necessary. Dr Vahlen has some other opinions on that matter I guess.

Operation Cold Fist


Mission Brief: Alien Abduction in progress. Meld energy signature readings are positive. Site is clear

of civilians; collateral damage is not a concern.

Mission Objectives:


Locate and secure Meld canisters

Personnel : Cpl. Khamphoukeo, Sq. Artych, Rk. Lewis, Rk. Lundsgaard.

Report:

The Skyranger landed near the N13, at Puteaux Neuilly-sur-Seine. It is a suburban area. The nearest building

is a laundry service. There is not a lot of good lookout posts for Artych, so he was staying at the outer area.

Lundsgaard went up a pipe at a Dominos, right next to the laundry. Rk. Lewis got the sight of two Sectoidson the street across the pizzeria. Khamphoukeo and Lundsgaard need to get close in to capture one or both

of them. Furthermore, a meld container has been located inside the pizzeria.

Khamphoukeo got hit by one of the Sectoids, but killed it immediately after, with the help of Lundsgaard

from the roof. Lewis got to the Meld before the self-destruct had been activated, so we managed to salvage

it. Artych is taking cover at the roof across the laundry and spotted two Sectoids inside. how could

Khamphoukeo miss them at the first sweep. Khamphoukeo and Lundgaards were cornering the other

Sectoid to try to capture it. A Meld with the self-destruct started has been sighted nearby. The two may

need to priorities if they capture the Sectoid or secure the Meld. Two Sectoids came out from the building,

where Artych is placed on the roof, right before Lewis tried to go inside the laundry. He managed to fire thegun, but missed, luckily it seemed that the aliens did not expect him to be there, so before they had time to

fire their guns, Lewis managed to hide inside the pizzeria again. While Khamphoukeo distracted the Sectoid

and also in the same time secured the Meld, Lundsgaard went behind it and used the Arc Thrower to Stun

the Sectoid. At the same time Artych shot one of the other sectoids in the laundry, but not before he got hit

from the sectoids gun. Lundsgaard intered the building and two more Sectoids appeared. She managed

quickly to shoot one of them. Seemed like they were in telepathy mode, as the other one died right after.

Lewis tried to corner the last one in the laundry building, but nearly managed to get himself killed in that

process. Luckily a .416 mm bullet pierced through the aliens skull. Sq. Artych shot that bullet from across

the street. Khamphoukeo and Lundsgaard managed to corner the last remaining sectoid and captures it

alive also. I think Dr Vahlen will be quite happy for this outcome.

When then team arrived in the hanger, they were met by the other members. A lot of cheering was going

on. This victory will help boost the morale for some time. The wound which Artych got was not serious, so

he would be fit for fighting again in a day or two. Khamphoukeo however managed to overextend his knee,

so he will be at sickbay for some time. While the living sectoids were unloaded and transported to the

holding facility, I could inform that Rk. Lewis and Lundsgaard and Cpl Khamphoukeo were up for a

promotion. Lewis signed up for the assault training, while it seems like Lundsgaard was so impressed with

my brothers performances that she signed up for heavy duty also.

Dr Vahlen started the interrogation of the sectoids immediately after they were secured in the prison.

29 March

Dr Vahlen is finish with "interrogation" of the Sectoid, or what is left of it. she managed to tab into its brain.

The first images showed a telepathy image of another sectoid, but Dr Vahlen duck deeper and found

another image. That of the energy being which we saw at the UFO crash earlier. So of cause Vahlen asked

me to capture that being next! When I walked out from the lab I met up with Bradfort. He mentioned that

what he saw in the lab "She may not nice, but Dr. Vahlen is the worst nightmare of the aliens". Well, lets

give her more life specimens to interrogate! Dr Vahlen's team also finish reaserch of the experimental

weapons. This enabled for further study and development of alien technology. Some of them were a

"forge", a new building which will enable the engineers to improve a lot of the equipment we already have.

A phoenix cannon for the interceptors. Massive burst damage, but the interceptors need to be in close

range. And much more. I am looking forward to the next report from the lab.

1 April

1000 hours. The council requested a meeting. I knew what it was about. It was the first status meeting with

the "higher powers" I think the teams and I did good, but I was still nervous going to the conference room. I

entered the room and turned on the monitors and got my papers ready. The whole meeting felt like it took

forever. The council looked through each case that the XCOM took, but also the once which we did not

have the manpower to take. The Asian and the African branch of the council especially we focused on the

missions we did not take. I managed to convince the whole board that we were doing all that we could with

the limited resources that we got. All in all the meeting went ok, so we are funded for the next month at

least. The focus I guess will be to get Africa and Asia on our good side. We need to build a new uplink so we

can support more satellites. That way we may get to each place sooner and intercept more of the alien

activities.

4 April

900 Hours. Got woken up. The aliens are out abducting people again. This time they are striking in:

Glasgow, UK, Port Harcourt, Nigeria and Toronto, Canada. As the panic level in the UK is really high, I focus

my energy there. Meanwhile I have authorized expansion on the base. We need more power for the

buildings. Dr Shen mentioned that there are some thermal streams in the underground that we can use, so

I have focused the excavation on those area so we can use that for extra electricity than just using normal

power plants.

Bradfort assembled the team for this mission. New recruits were coming in the other day, so he wants to

have them in the field as soon as possible. My brother will lead them, and as he is Sgt know , I trust him

with a team of 5, incl him.

The other team members are: Rk. Henrik Skov Jakobsen and Mette Jensen, both from the Danish military,

highly decorated in the Afghani war. Rk. Jakobsen, again a tall Viking. Blond short hair, but as Cordsen,

some kind of a surfer boy. Where are all these fearless and strong Vikings that you heard about. None hear

at least. Rk. Jensen, also blond haired. Not as tall as Jakobsen, but her aura somehow tells me that she can

handle things, if shit hits the fan.

The last two recruits are Chinese of nature. Jack Lee and Martin Woo. Both serving in PLA (The People'sLiberation Army Special Operations Forces) for nearly 10 years. Both of them are typical Asian looking guys.

Short black hair. not too tall. Let's see what the Chinese are able to do.

Operation Brutal Prophet

Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom

Mission Brief: Alien Abduction in progress. Meld energy signature readings are positive. Site is clear


Mission Objectives:



Personnel : Cpl. Khamphoukeo, Rk. Woo, Rk. Lee, Rk. Jensen, Rk. Jacobsen

The landing site is a diner place in Glasgow, near the M8 highway. The team is split into group of 2 and 3.

Sgt. Khamphoukeo found one of the Meld canisters and three sectoids protecting it. Khamphoukeo got one

killed instantly. Suddenly some new type of alien with tentacles appeared just behind

Khamphoueko(looked like a big flying octopus), some of the team shot at it but it seemed the bullet just

gone through. It when straight to Khamphoukeo and used the tentacles to grab him. Jacobsen acted quickly

and shot its head off. The arms just dropped of Khamphoukeo. at the same time, Woo killed another one of

the sectoids, but not before he got hit and he went into panic mode. Ran into the nearest building and

stayed low for a while. Lee stumbled on some new abomination, half living and half mechanic with jetpacks

attached. Lee got under suppressing fire from one of these flying things while the others scattered across

the field. Khamphoukeo got one of them from inside the diner. Clean shot. Jacobsen secured the first Meld

container inside the diner. One more one has been located near the flying aliens. An additional tentacle

being just showed itself in front of Rk. Jensen and grabbed her. Woo managed to hit the creature, but did

not kill it. It did however loosen its grip on Jensen, but cloaked itself right

after again. The rookies managed to corner all the flying aliens and took

them down in a crossfire, but not without casualties. Jensen and Woo got

hit pretty bad and laid low after this. The last sectoids got killed by

Khamphoukeo, but they lured him into the Octopus trap, which grabbed

him again. Lee manage to kill it, but not before it did some severe damage

on Khamphoukeo. The meld containers got secured and everyone got out

alive.

When I was heading to the hanger to welcome the team, Dr Vahlen

stopped me. She wanted to talk about the last mission. Okey, she would to congratulate the team.... Just

the opposite. She was not happy that the team did not manage to get any living species. I need to make

myself clear that the most important thing is to get the mission done and the team back in one piece. She

turned around and walked angry away. Hmm I may have awoken a dragon. Arrived at the hanger when the

Skyranger landed. Rk. Lee and Jakobsen worked from board, while the others were on gurneys on the way

to the sickbay. My brother again with a stupid grin. "Got myself a new cool souvenir" while he was holding

one of the tentacles. Sick kind of humor.

All the rookies are up for a promotion for a job well done. Woo and Jakobsen signed up for the Sniper

division. We are starting to get to many snipers in my opinion, but what can I do if their skills lies there. Lee

is signing up for Heavy and Jensen for the Assault units. Think that Woo, Jensen and my brother will be out

of service for some time, so I have to figure out who will be in charge of the team while Simon is out.

9 April

600 Hours. Why do these aliens not attack at normal hours! A UFO was seen 10 miles from the Japanese

coast, near the Kansai province. Our raven interceptor in the area got launches to intercept it. The vessel

was bigger than the last one and was a bit harder to take down. We need some funds alocated to modify

the ravens, we cannot be lucky all the time.

Bradfort got the team together. Sq. Lundsgaard will be the leader while my brother is injured. She has

proven some skills in some of the last missions. Let's see how she can handle a team. A lot of the other Sq.

are on different kind of training. Why did we have them at the same time! Bad timing, I need to talk to the

one handling that. So Bradfort found some new rookies eager for action. I hope it is wise to give

Lundsgaard a handful of rookies into a UFO.

Two of them are again Danish of nationality. I wonder why we get so many of these. Private Lise Thomsen,

another Scandinavian girl with long blond hair. Like Jurkovskaja and my brother, she has colored her gear as

a Christmas tree! Navy blue this time. I could soon call the troop the Rainbow soldiers :/.... The council

would have a field day! She has been in the Danish navy for 2 years before joining the Norwegian FSK

(Forsvarets Spesialkommando), in a joint operation between the Norwegian and Danish government.

The other Dane is Casper Friss Farse. He served in the Danish army, before choosing to start his career in

"Lgion trangre" (The French Foreign Legion). Seems he wanted some adventure, guess he will have

more than enough here. But guess there really are no Vikings left in Scandinavia. Rk. Farse is slim, like the

other Danes in this team. When I arrived in the hanger, he was wearing a military beret and black

sunglasses. A real smart ass.

The next in line is Private Prakash. No last name, just Prakash. Think he is Cher or what? Tall Indian guy with

that weird English accent. If he is going to start moving his head from side to side I am out of here. There is

not much from his record. He had served sometime in the Garud Commando Force, but after that it has

been black. Guess he has been to some black ops. He may prove to be useful here. The last is a french guy.

Private Xavier Lafont. He also served with the "Lgion trangre" for some years. Before that the ALA

(Arme de l'Air). If he is no good in the team, he may be useful as a pilot for the interceptors instead. Rk.

Lafont is tall and slim, bald like most of the other.

I briefed the team of the mission and highlighted that if it was possible to take one of these energy beings

alive. Dr Vahlen would be happy and I would not hear any complaints from her, at least until she is done

with the research.

Operation Devil's Fog

Location: Osaka, Japan

Mission Brief: XCOM Interceptors have splashed a UFO. Intel indicates some surviving crew. Meld

energy signature readings are positive. Exercise caution when engaging the enemy; the craft maycontain usable salvage.

Mission Objectives:


Sweep the area for surviving crew and neutralize them



Personnel : Sq. Lundsgarrd, Rk. Farse, Rk.Prakash, Rk. Thomsen, Rk. Lafont.

The vessel has crashed not too far from the city center. This will be hard to cover up for the public. Thank

god I am not in the PR department. Two seekers (the octopus creatures) were spotted. The team used the

info from the last mission de-brief to lure the clocked Seekers into a trap. The first got killed easily in a

crossfire, but the other one managed to injure Rk. Farse before the team got it. Meld container got

disarmed, but not before 3 "Floaters" (the flying aliens) came flying in. The team was quite prepared and

shot them down without any problems. A little later the team heard an explosion. Seems like the team did

not manage to disarm the other Meld container that was in the area. I am gonna hear from Dr Vahlen and

Shen for that. When the team approached the vessel, the floater dropped on the team, which was injured

from the last encounter moments ago. Sq. made a very risky move by jumping on top of some debris and

stunning the floater in mid air. Too risky for my taste, the area was not secure at all. If some other aliens

were coming, Sq. Lundsgaard would not have some cover and risk the other team members also. I don'tknow, maybe she wanted to prove that she can handle things.... At least Dr Vahlen is going to be happy.

The team continued deeaper into the alien craft and came, to what seems to be the commando bridge.

One of the energy beings was there. Rk. Thompson sneaked near it and stunned it with the Arc Thrower.

Good work. After it got stunned, it transformed itself into some crystal. At least it will be easier to transport

it that way.

All in all a job well done.

When I arrived at the hanger, Dr Vahlen was already there to oversee the crystal energy being. Before I

could talk to her, she already disappeared to the lab. After de-brief, Rk. Praksh, Thomsen and Lafont were

all up for a promotion. Prakash in sniper, Thomsen in Heavy and Lafont in Support divison. We clearly have

too many snipers. Lundsgaards risky actions got us a living "floater", but it also sprained her ankle. She will

be out of action for some time. Need to find a new leader, Again! Furthermore, 2 medals were giving for

their work. The Urban Combat Badge to Sq. Thomsen for the capture of the crystal being and the

"International Service Cross" to Lundsgaard. Even due it was a risky move, she does deserve this one.

Chapter 2

10 April

Dr Vahlen had me met her in the lab. She just finished the autopsy of both the "floater" and "Seeker" which

we collected a few missions ago. Seems like a lot of the organic organs in the floater were switched out

with mechanic ones instead. It is still unsure why the organic tissue did not rejects it all. One thing that was

clear, was that the beings have going into immersive pain to be transformed into these grotesque beings on

the operation table. another thing Vahlen noticed was a chip that was implanted in them. The implants

were used as an aid to evade projectiles. Dr Shen said that he can design something similar that we can use

in the inceptors.

The "Seekers" really was fascinating, according to Vahlen. With their cloaking device, they were ideal to

seek enemies and take them out. They do not have any weapons on them, but like a boa constrictor, they

will grab their victim and strangle them to their death. Furthermore, the seekers are not organic at all, but

strangely enough it still is not a robot. With the autopsy, Dr Shen has made blueprints for an temporary

invisibility device. Also a Respirator implant, which will get oxygen to the soldiers system, when chemical or

physical threats have been detected on the soldier.

12 April

The council has requested my presence in the situation room. The Council has gotten information about a

hijack attempt on an unauthorized French military convoy. The perpetrators were human, but their Intel

indicates the aliens may also have been in the area. Our job will be to investigate this.

Bradfort have gathered the team. I have appointed Sq. Artych as the leader this team. Let's see how he will

handle it.

Operation Purple Mountain


Mission Brief: A French military convoy was caught in an ambush. The convoy's current status is

unknown. Be prepared for anything.

Mission Objectives:

Investigate the area of operations

Locate and secure any survivors as well as the convoy's cargo

Eliminate any remaining opposition

Personnel : Sq. Artych, Rk. Farse, Sq. Liljedahl, Sq. Thomsen, Sq. Lafont.

Landing site is an abandon industry area. Sq. Artych and Liljedahl took high ground to get an overview,

while the rest of the team slowly went through the buildings. Two "thin man" suddenly appeared across

the street on another building. So we are sure that the aliens are a part of this. They started shooting at the

rooftop. Artych quickly took cover, but Liljedahl were not that quick. She got hit. Artych quickly got his

sniper and made a headshot. The other team members tried to corner the other Thin Man, so we could

have a live one to interrogate. When Sq. Lafont when near, the alien spit some gas projectile and poison

him. Thomsen managed in the chaos to sneak up on the alien and stunned it. Vahlen will be happy. The

team came across some bodies. They noticed that they were killed by normal conventional bullets and not

alien weapons. while eliminating the rest of the Thin Man's Sq. Artych came a little too close to one of

them, and also got the poison spit on him. He also got hit by gunfire right after. Sq. Thomsen made her

move and tried to stun the alien, so we had one more alive. Seems like the alien was immune, so she was a

point blank with the alien. Lafont came from the other site and killed it, before it could react to Thomsen,

only problem was that when the "Thin Man's" die, they release a poison cloud around them. Sq. Thomsen

got poisoned too. We found a living witness. The team got new orders to bring him in for questioning, if he

likes it or not. More Aliens are dropping it. It seems like they do not want our witness to talk. Artych took

some of them out from the roof, but one manage to sneak up on him. He managed to react, but got

severely injured, and got into a panic state. Lafont was fortunately near the roof, and managed to take out

the Thin Man before more could happen. Rk. Farse and the others managed to clean up the rest, before

the survivor was escorted to the Skyranger.

The team got home with our captive, but not without injuries. Thomsen, Artych and Lafont are getting

treatment for the poison they have encountered and Farse and Liljedahl have some flesh wounds that

need healing. Farse and Artych are at least up for a promotion, even if the mission did not go as well as Ihad hoped for. Artych will be Corporal and Farse has signed up for the Heavy divison.

16 April

600 hours. Again woken up at a f**** ud early time. These Aliens really know how to time things! Their

tackets are this time, Cairo, Chicago and Bangalore. The US have a low panic level, so I can leave them be

for now, but both Asia and Africa is on high alert. Which one to help out? It is going to be Egypt this time.

Operation Twisted Daze

Location: Bangalore, India

Mission Brief: Alien abduction in progress. Meld energy signature readings are positive. Site is clear


Mission Objectives:



Personnel : Sgt. Khamphoukeo, Rk. Cassar, Sq. Jurkovskaja, Sq. Andersen, Sq. Jakobsen.

The LZ is near a construction site in the heart of Bangalore. Seekers and Thin Man spotted. Khamphoukeo

killed one, but the two seekers managed to cloak. One of them got Jurkovskaja before the rest could react.

Furthermore, one of the thin man contaminated the area with his spit and the other held the team in

suppressing fire. Jacobsen sniped that bastard and Cassar took the opportunity to kill the seeker who

caught Jurovskaja. Khamphoukeo killed the last Thin man. So the near perimeters are secure now. The

other Seeker managed to breach the perimeters and got Cassar. Khamphoukeo was just out of ammo, so

he could not help out. Andersen needed to backtrack and save Cassar. Jakobsen took a highpoint on a truck

and spotted two floaters. sadly enough they also spotted the team at the same time.

The team moved ahead and quickly got the two melds contained. Problem was that the team moved into a

alien trap, Cassar and Andersen got badly hurt, but the team managed to get out with the work of the

sniper tag team, Jakobsen and Jurkovskaja. Sadly enough on the way back the two snipers got ambushed.

Jakobsen managed to push Jurkovskaja aside. The rest of the team with Khamphoukeo in the lead

managed to make a counterattack against the sectoid ambushers. But it did not look good for Jakobsen.

When the team arrived back in the hanger the emergency people were ready to take Jakobsen to the OP.

ANdersen, Cassar and Jurkovskaja needed also to get to the ER, but they injure were not that critical.

Somehow "Casino" Khamphoukeo again had the luck with him and survived the encounter without a

scratch. I have three of them ready for a promotion. Andersen and Cassar to Corporal and my brother to

Lieutenant. It is going to take some time before we can see if Sq. Jakobsen is going to survive or not. If he

had not pushed Sq. Jurkovskaja away, she would maybe also be in this shape or even worse.

The whole of Africa is on red alert, we are going to lose them if nothing drastic happens. While thinking

about how to talk the African council members to back out of the funding in the end of the month, Dr

Vahlen walks into my office with a folder. It is the result of the "Thin Man" interrogation. It seems Dr.

Vahlen made good progress in how to interrogate aliens as she got a lot of information out from this alien.

They are trained to communicate in a lot of terrestrial languages. Aside from its primary role as a

reconnaissance and infiltration specialist, the Thin Man also proved to be quite familiar with the alien's

navigation systems and celestial cartography. The information gained from this interrogation is of crucual

importance to our efforts in reverse engineering.

19 April

Jakobsen is not in life danger anymore, but he is still in coma. But that was not while I got summoned to the

mission control room. A new UFO has been spotted. a small scout, over German Air Space. Not only that,

but it seems to have landed. We need to use this opportunity to get a hold one an intact Vessel.

Operation Hot Empire

Location: Harz, Germany

Mission Brief: Satellite data indicates a UFO has touched down; high probability of enemy

operation in progress. Meld energy signature readings are positive. Expect to face a fullcomplement of enemy crew.

Mission Objectives:

Gain entry to the UFO and neutralize all enemy forces


Personnel : LT. Khamphoukeo, Sq. Jensen, Sq. Lundsgaard, Sq. Lafont, Sq. Cordsen.

The LZ is in the Harz forest. 3 setroids are discovered immediately scouting the perimeters. The team

surrounded them and took them out cold, but not before Lundsgaard and Lafont got themselves a flesh

wound. Sadly she panicked and bunkered down. A lot of setroids suddenly came out of the vessel. a new

Crystal being also. Lafont throw a smoke grenade in to distract them and to buy time to get all the men into

position. Lundsgaard got into the crossfire and panicked again. Took out her rocket launcher and killed the

energy being with it. Vahlen will not be happy. More setroids appeared from the perimeters and took down

Lundsgaard while she was panicked. Khamphoukeo took them down with his rocket launcher to clear the

perimeters and secure the UFO.

The ER crew was ready to receive Sq. Lundsgaard and get her to the OP. I wonder if I need to find another

leader, or there would be more casualties if he is not leading. I need to think about it. Dr Vahlen was of

cause not that happy that the team did not capture the Crystal being alive. I really need to sit her straightand explain that my teams lives are more important than getting her some new toys. At least the UFO was

intact, so I could get her back to her lab.

21 April

The Council asked for my present at around midnight. What could be so important? A member of the Triad

criminal organization has reached out to one of the councils contacts. He said that he has a "unique" piece

of technology in his possession. We are ordered to investigate it.

Operation Stone Breath

Location: Hong Kong, China

Mission Brief: If the contact's device is genuine, as we suspect it is, It'll be of high value. Stay sharp,

as the aliens may make an effort to recover it.

Mission Objectives:

Escort VIP and the artifact to the extraction point

Eliminate any resistance

VIP must survive

Personnel : LT. Khamphoukeo, Sq. Jensen, Sq. Lewis, Sq. Liljedahl, Sq. Farse.

The team met up with the contact inside the area of a Chinese temple / graveyard. When we talked to him,

a sectoid was sneaking around behind us. Without warning the contact, A Chinese looking man in his late

thirties named Zhang, drew out a Smith & Wesson and killed it. The team was ordered to escort the

contact to the LZ. two Thin Man showed up. One near a cherry blossom tree, which the team killed, with

the team shot quickly. The other one hid behind one of these big traditionally lion statues. Farse took him

out, but not without shooting some of the ancient gravestones. Somebody will not be happy in the

morning. two more Thin Man appeared near the blossom tree, but was killed. The satellite got some

signature of something unknown, and the team was told to be in the lookout for what created it. Near the

outer gate a new species appeared. And I thought we saw all. This Insectoid creature is walking on four

legs, big teeth. It took a lot of firepower to take this one out. One additional Thin Man and a Sectoid

appeared near the LZ to intercept Zhang. Khamphoukeo made one of his "Casino" moves and ran through

the enemy fire and killed the two right after. The perimeters were secure after that.

Everybody came out of the mission untouched. So even if he is doing his crazy moves, but somehow he got

his men through it all. Farse and Liljedahl were recommended to promotion, to Corporal and my dear

brother to Captain. I hope he will not get the idea of outranking me soon.

On a more Personnel note, Jakobsen came out of his coma. Seems like his head is alright. He needs some

R&R to get fit again. Dr Vahlen wanted to merge some of the Meld with him to see if this speeds the

process, I would not approve it. The risk is too big, as we do not know enough of it right now.

Dr Vahlen has confirmed that the device Zhang brought with him is a genuine alien equipment, but neitehr

Vahlen nor Shen have figured out what it is for. Zhang is waiting for me at the barracks. That is a surprise:

Zhang, or should I say Lieutenant Shaojie Zhang have signed up to the XCOM project. I wonder if we can

trust a former Triad member, but the council wants him in the team for now. His callsign is "Chilong", which

if I remember correctly that is the name of a hornless dragon in Chinese mythology. It has been adapted to

modern slang to describe someone who talks crap unnecessarily, usually as a way to overcompensate for

insecurities or self-perceived inadequacies. So the question is from which of these two he has been named

after. While down there I also had two medals that I have been authorized to give. The "Council Medal of

Honor" for Cap. Simon Khamphoukeo and the "Urban Combat Badge" to Cpl. Charlotte Liljedahl.

Dr Vahlen's team finished the research on the alien Nav Computer and even as they only decrypted a small

part of the alien data, it is enough to design new satellite uplinks. Furthermore, the have figured out how

some of the energy, the aliens using to power the UFO are working. This can help us make better powergenerators to power up the base.

25 April

500 hours. The alarms went off again in the middle of the night, Why in the world are they always doing

their abductions at this hour. I washed my face, got my clothes on and headed to the mission control. What

I saw when I went inside was not what I expected. All people were focused on the big screen. Even Dr

Vahlen and Shen was in the room. Different news stations were shown simultaneous on the screen with

one of them sized up and with the sound on. All the big news station were on the screen, NBC, CNN, FOX,

DR. And all of them showed similar things. Alien attack on big cities. I see no hope for the PR to cover thisone up. Dr Shen looked at me and asked "Why the change of their strategy". "this is a message ... a

message to the whole world that they are here and nobody can stop them". That was my best guess, and

maybe it was their message, but we are going to show them otherwise. Council messaged in and told us to

focus on the attack in Melbourne, Australia and let the different countries military take care of the other

attacks.

As the team assembled, I informed that from now on we have to step up, so we are going to size up the

team amount up to 6. Now that my brother is Captain, we got a Lieutenant and a few Corporals, so I think it

is save for the team to handle a 6 people squad. Dr Shen approached me and informed that his team have

developed new outfits for the team. Carapace Armor, more lighter and stronger than the normal gear.Looking forward to see how the gears work. Of cause my brother had his tailor colored in red.....

Operation Rotting Future

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Mission Brief: Alien terror attack in progress. Strong civilian presence; take case to avoid civilian

casualties. Failure will have severe political consequences for XCOM

Mission Objectives:

Approach civilians to enable evacuations

Minimize civilian casualties


Personnel : Cpt. Khamphoukeo, Sq. Lee, Sq. Lafont, Sq. Woo, Sq. Prakash, LT Zhang.

The LZ is midtown. Lets rescue some civilians. The team was dropped into hell's kitchen. Floaters were

securing the airspace and stared shooting the team at arrival. Some of the four legs creatures were in a

nearby building killing some civilians. Khamphoukeo ordered the team to spread out and find as many

civilians as possible and get them to the Extraction point. Khamphoukeo and Lee took out one of the four

legs right after entering the building. Zhang was seeking cover at some nearby cars, had a clear sight at a

Floater and took the shoot. got the Floater killed, but alerted another one nearby who hit Zhang in the leg.

Prakash and Woo had the perimeter secured by the time and took out the last Floaters. Khamphoukeo

went inside a burning building to get some civilians out while the rest of the team took care of the rest of

the aliens. The team saved around 80% of the civilian. a really good job.

The team arrived back after some hours. Takes some time to get from Australia back to Germany. The other

soldiers were there to congratulate the team of the excellent job. I have Lafont promoted to Corporal for

his job as medic for the other team members on this mission. The job well done also had an effect

throughout whole of Asia. The panic level has decreased there. Dr Vahlen asked me to come down in the

lab. Her team had finished the four legged creature (code named Ridley). They have named the Creature

"Chryssalid", based on their reproductive habits. Their attack is not only extremely deadly, but also

necessary for their reproduction, as the intended victim is not immediately killed, but instead turned into

what can only be described as a mindless shell, akin to a zombie, which serves as host to its offspring.

When a human is bitten, an embryo is injected into the host and immediately begins to gestate. Once

gestation is complete, which remarkably lasts only minutes, a newborn Chryssalid will emerge, destroying

its host in the process. My men will be informed to kill these things from afar distances, the only problem is

that these "Chryssalids" are quick on their feet. On the good news, the materials which can be used for

better protection. Just need to kill more of them.

1 May

It is time for my monthly meeting with the council again. It will not be a good one. Even due all of the

mission we managed to get, it still was not enough to lower the panic levels in some of the countries

supporting the XCOM project. most of North America is in high alert and Africa is just beyond that, with the

result of Nigeria and South Africa withdrawn from the XCOM project. Not a good sign. Funds will be cut for

ones. It took a lot of diplomacy to convince the rest of the board (not Asia, as we helped them out a lot) to

Dr Vahlen has informed me that the lab team is finished analyzing the "Elerium" material that have been

found in the UFO's it has some interesting structure. One a more Personnel note Dr. Vahlen said: "To think,

this single element has the potential to change the entire economic structure of Earth's energy industry. If

we were to discover the source of this material, our reliance on fossil fuels could disappear within a

decade." She also said that manufacturing this element is beyond our capabilities. So we will can only use

what we recover. A few hours later, at 0130 hours, a large scout has been sighted over Japanese airspace.

Ravens have been scrambled. Although the raven got a lot of damaged, it got the scout down. Will make

sure that the pilot will get a recommendation. Now to let Bradfort gather the team for this mission.

Operation Defiant Knife

Personnel : Cpt. Khamphoukeo, Sq. Lee, Cpl. Lafont, Sq. Lundsgaard, Sq. Thomsen, Sq. Jensen.

The LZ is a forest neat Mt. Azumara. The team quickly found a secured the Meld canisters. Really weird that

none aliens were protecting them. maybe they all died in the crash. The team split up into two groups,

group 1. Khamphoueko, Lundsgaard and Jensen . Group 2. Lee , Lafont and Thomsen . The team entered

the vessel from 2 different openings. One in the south and the other in the west. When they entered a

Crystal manifested. Khamphoukeo stunned it, but not before getting hit. While Lafont patched him up, the

other part of the team investigated the rest of the vessel but did not find any more of them inside. But that

was not true for the inside. Seems like the wanted to trap us, when our guard was down. Lee covered

Lundsgaard and killed 2 floaters. Lafont, or Santa as the other call him now (guess because he comes with

the gift of healing, hohoho), killed another Floater. Jensen took a Thin Man out on the left flank, while

Thomsen stunned the other one. Nice teamwork. Sadly she got hit by him in her left arm before the stun

activated.

Lafont could only stabilize the wound, so the ER need to see my brother and Thomsen too. Lee and Jensen

are up for promotion to Corporal and Lafont to Stg. In addition a "International Service Cross" is being given

to Khamphoukeo for excellent service.

Dr Shen informed me that the new uplink is up and running, and we sent our newly manufactured in the

space over the USA. Money is slim, so we started selling some of the damaged UFO equipment in the gray

marked to get more money. Dr Vahlen contacted Bradfort, Dr Shen and I into the mission control. She was

in the lab with the Crystal. she has been there for days, locked every else out of there. She told us that the

being is organic, but also highly crystallized. It emits some kind of frequency, which she could not identify.

Before I could say anything, Dr Shen looked at the information at the screen and informed us all that the

reason Dr Vahlen could not identify it, was because it was not something in her field. According to Shen, it

was a signal and that the crystal was receiving it. Like an antenna. The problem would be to decipher the

code. Dr Vahlen immediately spoke up now, claiming that her team could handle it. Bradfort took the word

and asked if it was possible to figure out where that signal came from. Dr Shen told us that if Vahlen could

handle her end, then his time would make a relay for the signal. Well it looks like we have our job cut out

for us.

0700 hours. Again early in the morning. Seems like they are back to their normal pattern . Three areas are

in the radar; Edmonton, Canada, Rosario, Argentina and Volgograd, Russia. Edmonton is on the highest

alert. We cannot risk to lose another member of the council . Sgt. Lafont is going to be in command while

my brother is getting back in shape.

Operation Final Smoke

Location: Edmonton, Canada

Mission Objectives:



Personnel : Sgt. Lafont, Cpl. Liljedahl, Cpl. Artych, Cpl. Farse, Cpl. Andersen, Cpl. Cassar.

The LZ is at a small diner at Sherwood Park. Lafont and Liljedahl moved to the right flank and saw to

Seekers on the opposite side of the building, but sadly they spotted them too and went into stealth mode.

3 Thin Man appeared. Lafont and Artych took 2 of them out quickly. The seeker appeared near Cassar and

before he could do anything, the seeker took him into its tentacles. Artych took it down with his sniper. It

was actually impressive. The alien was just 5 meters away. The team continued at the right flank, secured a

meld container. When the team got to the corner of the diner, 3 Floaters appeared in the air. Cpl Farse

tried to go into cover, but was hit by a shot in the left knee. The other seeker appeared and grabbed

Liljedahl but Cpl. Cassar used his shotgun at close range and killed it. Andersen ran through the diner into

the kitchen to flank the floaters, sadly 2 sectoids where inside and he took some heavy damage. He

managed to kill one while the other joined the Floaters outside. Artych, Farse and Liljedahl took out the

floaters, while Lafont rushed thorugh the diner to patch up Andersen. Liljedahl went up to check the roof,

but the last Thin Man was waiting there and got a good shot at her, but luckily it was not a mortal wound.

It seems when the Skyranger came back, only Andersen needed to get to the ER immediately, the rest

according to the doctors just need a checkup and they will be ready the next day. Farse, Andersen and

Liljedahl are all up for promotion to Sgt. Furthermore, it seems the team have given them some nicknames

now. "Flash" Farse, "Double Down" Andersen and "Ouija" Liljedahl (yes like the Ouija board, must mean

the team think she has some spiritual powers).

The Canadian law enforcement has contacted us somehow. They are having a substantial difficulties

dealing with increased looting and rioting. What they need is a new form of control, and the Arc Thrower

could be their answer. If we give them access to the technology, they've offered to reciprocate in kind with

any assistance they can. Seems like a good deal, as it would be easy for Dr. Shen to manufacture some new

ones.

2230 hours. A new tyep of UFO Vessel have been sighted over Germany. A Large and squared in form.

Thought they all where round. We sent our Raven to intercept it. Luckily for us Dr Shen had equipped some

new alien weapons on it. The pilot needs to be in close range to fire it, but it should have enough power to

take this thing down. Furthermore, the prototype for the defense matrix (which was invented with the help

of the floater implant chips) is also on board. One charge is on it and will last for 10 sec. Dr Shen knows

how to create weapons. The Raven took it down with ease. Now it is for the team to check the new vessel.

Bradfort is assembling the team. My brother is up from the sickbed again so he will lead the team.

LZ is at Drmling forest. It was a really huge craft. Hope not many are still alive. The team found some

holding tanks in what seems like a cargo hall. It must be in these that the ones abducted were inside. I

really do not want to know what the aliens did to them. Thomsen and Cordsen entered the vessel from

what may be the control room and a Crystal appeared. It took a door on the upper level. Bad luck for him

was my brother in the other room in the cargo hall. With his "Casino" luck he just happens to get in

pointblank and got the alien quickly. 3 " Chryssalids" showed up just outside one of the air ducks. 2 of them

were taken down, but the last managed to injure and implant an embryo into Sgt Andersen before we

could kill it. A few minutes and a new " Chryssalids" would come crawling out of him! Lucky for him Sq

Cordsen had the medkit with the antidote with him and stabilized Andersen. He would stay put while the

rest would search the remaining ship. 3 Floaters showed their faces near the cargo area. The hit

Khamphoukeo, but not vital. He and some of the other team; Thomsen, Lewis and Cordsen made a frontalattack. Took two down while the last one made an escape. Lewis managed to figure out which way it went

and took it down. A few sectoids appeared near the dead Floater. Lewis had no more ammo on him and

had to retreated before they got into firing position. They were at low ground just outside the UFO, while

all of the team were on high ground on of sort of balcony on the vessel. Khamphoukeo made the team take

cover near the balcony and got them all to shot at the same time. It worked. The sectoids were caught in

the open and gunned down. The rest of the ship was empty.

At arrival at the hanger Sgt Andersen was taken to the ER immidiately. The doctors had to make sure that

there were not any other embryo's inside him, and the " Chryssalids" did some damage to him also. He will

be in sickbay for some time I fear. The same with my brother, looks like the floaters got him good. A fewbroken bones here and there. Hope he will be up and running soon again. For promotions I have Sq Lewis

and Thomsen up for promotion to Corporal and my brother Simon Khamphoukeo to Major. He is really

breathing down my neck right now. Maybe I will have him do desk job from now on, so he will not outrank

me!

The council sent for me. It seems Dr. Shen has sent them a report about the transponder device provided

by Zhang. Why did he not show it to me first. Wonder where his loyalty is... It seems the device is tied into

the navigation system of an alien battleship approaching our atmosphere. The doctor believes deploying a

series of modified transponders could provide us with a means of diverting the battleship before it reaches

Operation Bloody Dirge

Location: Guangzhou, China

A battleship is closing on the city. The squad must place the transponders in time to divert the

attack. Aliens will likely deploy scouts to seek out any human resistance. Enemy contact likely.

Mission Objectives:

Plant the transponders on the train

Once the transponders are in place, activate the train's drive control system

Personnel : Lt. Zhang, Sq. Cordsen, Sq. Lewis, Sgt Lafont, Sq. Prakash, Sq. Thomsen.

Arriving in Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, the team moved to the grand station. The plan is to

place transponders in specific locations on board of the train to redirect the battleship approaching. The

team approached the designated train and was starting to place the transponders, when some Thin Man

showed up. Of cause it was not going to be a walk in the park. The first transponder have been placed,

when some signal coming from the battleship got registered. A blue light appeared, and a Hulk like battle

alien showed up inside the light. Do they have teleportation now!! The Hulk alien is really good armored, it

took a lot of firepower to take it down and Lafont got severely injured, Cordsen had to stabilize him. More

Thin Man joined the party and the train looked more and more like a Schweiz cheese! After the next

transponder were in place, another Hulk came teleporting down. This time at the roof of the train. The

metal structure could not handle its weight and it dropped down, nearly crushed Sq. Lewis, but he reacted

with some speedy reaction at got the alien stunned right after. Dr. Vahlen is going to get really pleased with

getting such a large example to interrogate. The last two transponders were placed, while Thin Mans and

the Hulk's were using my men as shooting practice. The weapons that these new creatures have really pack

a punch! Shot the walls away from the train sides. No real cover anywhere I get. The time was ticking and

the battleship got closer, while the team was cornered down. Sq. Prakash had taken cover on the roof and

starting sniping one after the other alien. The team had to start the train and get it going ASAP and Lafont

needed to get to the ER. Lt. Zhang showed his usefulness and rushed though the fire (it somehow reminded

me of a scene from "Bands of Brothers") and started the train. After the train got started all the team

member got extracted.

Lafont got rushed to ER. He got also a promotion to Lieutenant for his

leadership performance. Sq. Prakash and Cordsen got promoted to

Corporal and Lewis, now with the nickname "Pitbull" (wonder how

he got that nickname) is promoted to Sergeant. Dr Vahlen waited

again at the hanger also, wanted to take a look at the Hulk. She is

obsessed with these creatures.

The Council congratulated my team on the mission, but also

mentioned that now that the battleship has been distracted, we have the

opportunity to ambush it with all its technology. The council will inform

us when the time for the attack is.

2 days with two missions, can we have a break soon! Dr Vahlen and Shen walked into my office at around

1500 hours, while I was still writing the report for the last to missions. They informed me that the Gene and

Cybernetics labs are finished and are ready for volunteers, so they can be improved. All so good, but I need

to talk to the men and see who is up for this. Especially the Gene lab. Who wants to merge with alien

genes! On the other hand, to get both arms and legs removed to get cybernetic body parts instead is also

not something everyone will volunteer for.

Guess I was wrong. Both Jakobsen and Woo volunteered for the cybernetic MEC program. I guess because

they have not preformed as well as the others yet, they feel like they have to show that they can be to

some use. We have only funds for one prototype right now so I have selected Sq. Martin Woo for this and

sent him off to Dr. Shen.

Dr Vahlen finished her interrogation of what they call "Mutons". At first sight, they look like Hulking, brutish

unintelligent beings, but it seems they have a lot of knowledge and understanding of their weaponry and

tactics, as these beasts represents the aliens most formidable front-line combatant. The other part of thelab team are finished with the autopsy of the 275 kg Muton. There are no trace of fat anywhere, it seems

they are genetically modified. They are breed for combat. Some unusual tattoos and ritualistic markings

were found. The Mutons may have been in some kind of tribal structure. Furthermore, it seems like there

are some genetic similarities between the Muton and Floaters. it could even be that the Floaters were

Mutons before that. Dr Vahlen seems to think that some of the genes, a so-called "Warcry" can be used in

the Gene lab.

The Council have contacted me. The battleship is vulnerable now, so it is time to get the team ready and

capture the vessel. As both Lafont and my brother as on sickbay, I will put my trust into Lt. Zhang, but

informed the others to watch him, if he is doing some shady moves.

Operation Banished Star

Location: Guangzhou, China

The battleship is cripped but still active, and the aliens aboard won't be happy to see us. Expert

maximum resistance.

Mission Objectives:

Destroying or disabling the power conduits will enable us to bring down the Battleship without

damaging it

Eliminate all alien defenders

Personnel : Lt. Zhang, Cpl. Cordsen, Cpl. Lewis, Sq. Jurkovskaja, Sq. Lundsgaard, Sgt. Liljedahl.

The team has gotten the orders to take out the vessels power conduits, to force it down. The team entered

the first room and found one of six (according to Dr. Shen) conductors. It as lightly defended, but the teammust have triggered a alarm and more came out of the holes. Seems it got even worse when Cpl. Lewis

managed to shut down the first conduit. While making it to the next conduit (it is quite easy to find them)

Chryssalids were dropping down from the ceilings (seems like the aliens have watched "Alien" too much).

While going after the third and fourth conduit a new alien, or should I say robot. A small flying disc of some

kind. Without any warning it transformed and had more weapon under its metal, than anything I have seen

before. Sadly enough it hit Sgt. Liljedahl frontal and she went down. 2 Rockets did not take it down. Sq.

Jurkovskaja must have found the weekpoint, as it only took her one shot to take it down. I want Dr Vahlen

take this thing apart, we need to know how to take it down quicker. When it went down, Cpl. Lewis rushed

to Liljedahl's site to stabilized her. Let's hope it is enough and that we do not met more of these robots.

Lundsgaard and Cordsen double teamed on a Muton that showed up at the last two conduits.

The SkyRanger landed in the hanger. Liljedahl rushed to the ER. Looks like she lost a lot of blood. I really

hope Cordsen did a good job stabilizing her and that none of the vital organs got

hit. In the meantime the following members of the team are up for a

promotion. Lundsgaard and Jurkovskaja to Corporal. Cordsen

to Sergeant. Lewis to Lieutenant. and Zhang to Captain. Seems

I can trust him after all. Furthermore, the sergeant got himself

the nickname "Moose", do not know if it is because of his looks. Iwonder where the Council has "parked" the UFO.

Dr Shen is finished with Woo's "upgrade", now we need to equipped his MEC with weapon features. I think

a Flamethrower will be something that Sq. Woo would like. Dr Vahlen called me into the lab for the result

of the robotic disc. "So far, we've been unable to ascertain whether this is strictly a mechanical creation or

a living organism. Based on our findings, it has an alternative biochemical system based on the silicon atom.

Like carbon, silicon can create molecules that are sufficiently large to carry biological information, and since

silicon has several chemical properties similar to carbon, it is possible this could be a new and completely

alien life form, with respect to the specimens we've already encountered. Its internal mechanisms seem to

operate like organs, giving it the ability to circulate plasma through its core systems, much in the same way

blood flows through our bodies. Also, further study shows that it may be possible to use these designs in

our genetic modification program to reduce our soldiers' dependence on vital organs such as the heart. Our

Unit Analysis View available in the field should provide additional specifics regarding this species' various

combat abilities." Let's hope that the knowledge that Vahlen told me can be used for any good. The most

important is that the team need to keep their distance from it. It is more dangerous than the "Crryssalid"

A few hours later the alarm went off. The aliens are again on a abducting run. We need more satellites up

to predict these attacks. The three targets are: Los Angeles, Melbourne and Birmingham. We will sent our

team to Melbourne.

Cordsen will take the lead while the others are in sickbay still. Furthermore, Woo is in with his MEC.

Operation Fallen Tears

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Mission Objectives:



Personnel : Sq. Woo, Sgt. Cordsen, Sq. Jakobsen, Cpl. Lee, Cpl. Cassar, Cpl. Lundsgaard.

The LZ is a cargo area for trains. A lot of ground to check. Seekers and sectoids are sighted. Jakobsen got

shot at and a seeker grabbed him. Floaters and Thin Man have joined the party. Lee has gotten into

Suppression fire. What looked like a normal abduction mission, more and more looked like a trap designed

specific for XCOM. Wave after wave of suppression fire came at the team. I guess it was luck that the MEC

was ready for this mission. Woo's Flamethrower and minigun really did a job on those aliens an BBQ'ed

them well.

Everyone got home thank to him, yet according to the council he was not ready for a promotion yet. The

MEC needed to prove itself some more before promotions were their reason. At least Cpl Lundsgaard and

Cassar got a promotion to Sergeant, and Sgt "Moose" Cordsen to Lieutenant. Furthermore, it seems like the

team have given the two new sgt.'s some nicknames: Lundsgaard: Lights out. My only guess is the kill rate

she has under her belt, or perhaps that she can go to sleep anywhere, even in combat. And Cassar: Septic,

which is a Greek word for Putrefaction, one of the seven stages of decomposition of a dead animal. I really

wonder if it is because of his smell or something else. Maybe he will take a hint a go shower more often. I

have been informed that Russia is now on the highest panic level. If we cannot do anything to came them

before the month is over, we will risk losing more Council supporters.

23 May.

The council connected me again. It seems an unknown organization is trying to undermine XCOM field

operations. They believe this group harbors some misguided sympathies for the invaders. Early reports

indicates this organization calls itself EXALT. We are given permission to start covert missions, isolate these

treats and eliminate them.

I do not like it. Now we have to fight human beings also! Why the hell would they support these aliens. A

EXALT cell has been identified in South Africa. We have to start a mission and shut them down before they

can sabotage our goals. I am sending Stg. Andersen in as a Covert to South Africa. We cannot equip our

covert agents with more than a pistol and normal clothing, so they have to be really careful in these kind of
