WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God

by Susie and Lee Baker and family in celebration and praise of our Savior!

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Several kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available if you need assistance checking in.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1 which is equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

Theme: Supremacy of Christ

The Prelude—O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus ...................... Beethoven/Mark Hayes

(† Indicates the congregation standing) (*Ushers may seat worshipers at this time)

†The Call to Worship ........................................................................Philippians 2:9-11God has highly exalted Jesus and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,

So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

(For meditation)Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nature,O thou of God and man the Son,Thee will I cherish, thee will I honor,Thou, my soul’s glory, joy and crown.

All fairest beauty, heavenly and earthly,Wondrously, Jesus, is found in thee;None can be nearer, fairer or dearer,Than thou, my Savior, art to me.

†The Invocation (Please lift hands)

Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ........................................................ Isaiah 40:1-2Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to herthat her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

We have sinned against you, O Lord, our Maker, our Defender, and our Redeemer. Our natures are corrupt and sinful; prone to fall away from you, sluggish to do good and swift to do evil. Vain thoughts have come upon us and found lodging within us, defiling and disquieting our minds, and keeping out good thoughts. We have burdened ourselves with that care which you have commanded us to cast upon you. We have failed in our duties one to another, and have provoked one another as much to folly and anger as to love and good works. We have been cold in our love to you, weak in our desires toward you, unsteady in our walking with you, and are even at this time poorly prepared to serve you. We beseech you—forgive all our sins, for Christ’s sake, and be at peace with us in him who died to make peace and lives to make intercession for us. Amen. Adapted from Matthew Henry
