World War II
• World war 2 was mainly continuation of the World War I.• It was fought in nearly every area of globe.
There were two main sides:
1. Axis Powers: Germany, Italy and Japan.
2. Allies Powers: Britain and her colonies, France, USA, The Soviet Union and also China.
• It was the largest and bloodiest war fought in history.• 40 to 50 million deaths occurred.• World War I had an important influence on history so did
the World War II.

• In 1920 Adolf Hitler, an Austrian who had risen to power in Germany, became leader of the Nazi Party.
• Today Hitler is regarded in many areas of world one of the great ‘monsters’ of history.
• For the Germans he was making their way out of difficulties.• Hitler was a dictator, and assumed the title ‘Der Fuber’ which
means the leader • Hitler ordered the program of arms for Germany .(in 1932
Germans had 36 military aircrafts but in 1939 it had about 8500 aircrafts)

• Hitler believed that world war one ended in humiliation.• He wanted to create a Greater Germany.• Hitler believed that the Slavic people were sub humans.• He believed that White Northern Europeans (Aryans) were
best race on the earth and Aryan German were the “Master Race”.
• He believed that the lands (Eastern lands in Europe) with Slavic people should be controlled by Germans.
• The lands were under the Soviet Union in control of Jews.• For Hitler, Jews were more inferior than Slavic people.

• Jews were successful in their business and had become very rich.
• Hitler believed that they were the cause of defeat in World War I.• In 1930s the persecution of Jews began, Nazi Party stirred up
hatred for them.• Their soldiers beat up Jews in streets.• Soon Jews in German lands were forced to wear yellow stars to
show their race.• Their homes, businesses, and place of worship were destroyed.• Many were arrested and sent to camps were they were forced to
work • In 1935 Hitler passed law that no Jew is German citizen or marry
German citizen.• Some Jews escaped Nazis and went to other parts of world.

• India became vital base for allies for attacking Japanese.• By 1945 the Indian army was two and a half million strong.• Some Indian soldiers served overseas.• During the war 32,092 Indian soldiers were killed.• Indian women worked as nurses in the Middle East.• As in Britain, food rationing was introduced in the
Sub-Continent.• By the end of the war Britain owned India 1300 million GBP.• War brought long term economic benefit Sub-Continent.
