PRAYER OF INVOCATION Rev. Pedro S. Silva II

Eternal God, come to us and stay, for we have not yet listened to your Word in the words of one another.

Come to us and stay, for we have not recognized your face in every friend and stranger.

Come to us and stay, for we have not shared your bread with every sister and brother.

Come to us and stay, for with you, we may yet learn to live the way we profess and pray. Amen.

SCRIPTURE Luke 14:16-24 SERMON Extending the Table CALL TO PRAYER Draw the Circle Wide Gordon Light/Mark Miller Chancel Choir

Draw the circle, draw the circle wide. No one stands alone, we’ll stand side by side. Draw the circle wide, draw it wider still. Let this be our song: no one stands alone. Standing side by side.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Linda Kowatch LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

SHARING THE BREAD AND CUP If you’re seated in the sanctuary, please come down the center aisle to pick up the communion elements – grape juice and gluten-free bread. Return to your seat by the side aisles, holding the elements until we are ready to partake together. After the service, please dispose of your used cups in the marked bins in the narthex.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

We thank you, God, for calling your people from the east, the west, the south and the north to feast together at your table.

Strengthen our faith, increase our love for one another, and send us forth into the world in courage and peace, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Go with us to the streets, to our homes, and to our places of labor and leisure, that whether we are gathered or scattered, we may be the servant church of the servant Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
