4 World Banking and Finance Summit, 2012

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW The World Banking and Finance Summit, organised by OMFIF and Lafferty Group, will examine the changing shape of global banking and finance in the light of the macroeconomic imbalances in the world economy and continuing challenges affecting the industries. The agenda will explore the changing structures emanating from financial upheavals and key economic factors that will shape the financial industry’s drive for profits and growth in different countries, sectors and regions in the approaching decade. It will consider the prospects of a possible multipolar reserve currency system reflecting the surfacing of important emerging economies and the subsequent shift in economic power from established centres to new contenders. The purpose behind the discussions is to build on the relationships built during last year’s summit, which brought together analysts, central bankers, commercial bankers, economists from private financial institutions and academe, in order to unearth the future of banking and finance. The World Banking and Finance Summit combines the resources of OMFIF, a body linking central banks and sovereign funds, and Lafferty Group, a research publishing house specialising in retail banking, cards and payments, and is organised in association with other supporters and sponsors from within the OMFIF network.
