OBJECTIVES:

1. Participants will be able to identify apps that can be used for learners of different age groups.

2. Participants will be able to identify apps that can be used for AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).

3. Participants will be able to identify apps that can be used to find apps.

4. Participants will be able to identify resources where some free apps can be found.

5. Participants will be able to identify apps to work on the Common Core standards.

ABSTRACT:

As shown in the objectives, this session will provide iPad users a number of resources and list of apps. An iPad will be used to open and demonstrate many of the apps that will be recommended to use with children with autism.

Kathy Castrataro, MEd, OT

is currently an occupational therapist with the Orange School District serving students ages 2-22. She has been with the Orange Schools since 1992. Prior to that, she was an OT with Broadmoor School, the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She received her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor’s in Science from Cleveland State University in 1983. She completed her Master’s degree in Education with a specialty in computer uses in education in 1991. Kathy has been using technology with her students for 30 years. In addition to technology, Kathy provides traditional OT services including fine motor skills, activities of daily living, and sensory regulation.
