1. How to Log In to your Wordpress Site

Enter the following details in the address bar:

www.[your website]/wp-adminExample:www.digitalstorm.co.uk/wp-admin

You will be directed to the login panel for your website:

Press Log In.You will then be directed to the Dashboard

Enter the username and password given to you by digital storm. If you cannot remember your password simply select ‘Lost your Password?’ link and follow the on screen instructions.

2. How to create a new Post

This is how your Dashboard will look when you’ve logged in

Hover over the Posts option to reveal more options.

To add an image, video or PDF to your post click ‘Add Media’.

Select ‘Add New’ to create a new post.

Give your post a title here.

Fill in the content for your post in the large blank space.

You can format your text using the editing tools here.

Ensure you are using the ‘Visual’ editor. ‘Text’ editor is for editing in HTML.

Once you have selected ‘Add media’ the Image Media Library will appear...

The image will be inserted within the post as shown below:

You may wish to edit your image. You are able to change the image size, alignment, title, captions or even add a link.

If your image is not already available in your Media Library you have the option to upload your image there and then.

Select ‘Upload Files’. You can then either drag files directly onto this box or choose ‘Select Files’ to search for your files.

Then select ‘Insert into post’

Select your image and then select the little image icon.

A new dialogue box will appear:

Once you have made your changes Select ‘Update’ and you will be directed back to your Post.

Highlight the text you would like to add a link.

Then select ‘Insert/edit Link’. A new dialogue box will open.

Insert the link URL and Title (usually this is the same as the highlighted text).

Or, you can choose to select to link to existing content by simply selecting the destination page.

Scroll down until you find the Featured Image box.

Select ‘Set featured image’

4. How to set a Featured Image

Selecting ‘Set featured image’ will load the media library. Select the image you wish to set as your featured image. and press ‘Set featured image”.

You will then see a preview of the image you’ve selected in the Featured Image box.

Scroll down until you find the Categories box.Digital Storm will have already have created a category list for you. Simply select your preferred category.

In this example we have selected to publish this post to our ‘Blog’.

5. How to assign Post to Category

Scroll down until you find the Featured Image box.

Selecting ‘Set featured image’ will load the media library. Select the image you wish to set as your featured image. and press ‘Set featured image”. You will then see a preview of the image you’ve selected.

Scroll back to the top and press Publish.If you would like to preview your post before you publish select preview. this will load

6. Preview and Publish a Post

If you would like to Preview your post before you publish select Preview.

Simply return to the Edit Post page and press Publish

This will load a live preview of your post in a new tab.

Select ‘Preview’.

Select ‘Publish’.

7. How to edit an existing Post

To edit a post select ‘All Posts’ in your dashboard.

You will then be able to edit your Post in the same way as when you were creating a new Post, please see page 2 of this Starter Guide.

Select ‘All Posts’.

Select the post you wish to edit.

This will reveal all of your existing posts....
