Set the foundationThis program provides you with the opportunity to learn woodworking skills from basic to advanced. The classes are designed to benefit the beginner, as well as those with previous experience. With each course, you will build on the knowledge you gained from the previous; this will culminate in designing and building your own project.

Enter the workshopGet straight to work in the shop with tools and materials while also studying the intricate skills of woodworking from machinery use to design layout. Become competent in the basics of hand and power tools, project layouts, jigs, and larger, more powerful machinery.

Handy safety stepsWoodworking tools can be dangerous if not used properly. Throughout the program, practice the correct and safe way to operate woodworking equipment, learn workshop safety protocols, and understand best practices to ensure you have an enjoyable and safe experience in workshop environments.

If you’ve always wanted to get into the hobby world of woodworking but weren’t sure where to start, this program is for you. Take your woodworking hobby to the next level by having the skills to create pieces of work for family and friends or even start your own business.

Admission RequirementsThere are no admission requirements. English is the language of instruction at Assiniboine. All applicants educated outside of Canada or in a country not on the test exempt list are expected to meet the English language proficiency requirement. See assiniboine.net/elp for more information.

Graduation RequirementsTo graduate with a Woodworking document of achievement, students must successfully complete 90 academic hours.

Program FeesTuition, fees and Student Association fees total approximately $1,645.
