Congratulations!
Congratulations to our Concert and Symphonic bands for earning
a Superior overall rating at their annual Music Performance
Assessment. Additional congratulations go to Isabella Rodri-
guez and Sarah Hill for earning Superior ratings as Student Conduc-
tors. Way to go Wilson Band!
On April 21, 53 students will perform at Solo and Ensemble MPA.
During this event, the talented students of The Wilson Band will
perform alone and in small groups for adjudicators. Each student will
earn a rating for their performance. Best of luck to all participants!
On April 28-30, twelve students have been selected to participate
in the Symphonic Celebration at the University of South Florida.
These students will perform in a variety of ensembles as well as receive
master classes and private lessons. They will be great representatives for
Woodrow Wilson Middle School: Isabella Rodriguez, Eva Telesca,
Charlie Patterson, Kiara Vazquez, Rohan Joshi, Jefre Dasovich,
Daniil Fortuna, Grace Seiwert, Michael Mason, Madelyn De-
Vega, Noelle Dennis and Tanner Gilbert.
8th grader Erin Moffitt was honored at the Youth Art Exhibit
Reception at the John F. Germany public library on Sunday, March
26th. Her prismacolor drawing of a red panda was selected to
represent Wilson in this celebration of Youth Art Month. Her work was
exhibited throughout the month of March at the library.
Scholastic Art Awards had their awards reception at Blake High
School on Friday, March 24th. Jocy Rivera, 8th grade, received
an honorable mention for her rendition of childhood. She created
a mixed media relief sculpture and drawing using her little brother as a
model. Scholastic Art is a national competition and we are very proud to
have had Jocy represent Wilson.
Morgan Wall and Lauren Heron represented Wilson at the
Hillsborough County History Fair with an original documentary on
the advancement of women's opportunities in space exploration.
These students worked for months completing extensive research and
compiling their work in video format to prepare for the event. Wilson is
proud of these hard-working, committed young women.
The 1st Annual HCPS SLAM Showcase was held at the Tampa
Convention Center on March 22nd. Our quiz team and student
artist represented Wilson at the celebration. The SLAM Show-
case is the new HCPS Library Media Event that took the place of the Bat-
tle of the Books. Additionally, the SLAM Showcase featured 2-D art in-
spired by Sunshine State books and student-created book trailers for the
same titles. Wilson SLAM Quiz team: Taylor Knotts, Natalie Meyer,
Grace Siewert, Mac Waldron. Wilson SLAM 2-D artist: Jessie Ref-
fue (who created an interactive illustration inspired by the book Echo).
