Peaked Wood Floor Drying – Inspection Information

• Messmate floor 21mil sitting on a vapour barrier with painted water resistant concrete

• Wood floor was cupped throughout the front of the training gym• Water ingress from faulty canopy which leaked into shop window and glass

door• Water was mopped and open air drying was done so that the training centre

could continue to operate (by the gym manager)• A few weeks later the floor peaked up• FRSDA was called into dry the wood floor• It took 18 days to dry

Complication of job

• Business was opened 13 hours a day with most of drying equipment running on low or not at all during business hours

• The temperature was between 22-24 Celsius as the training centre was environmentally controlled by an air conditioner

• It was the end of winter and the nights were cold. The training centre windows were many and wide. Environment was cold throughout the day which made it hard for the dehumidification to work properly most of the time

• We needed to make sure our equipment was not going to cause any issue for trip hazard, as the training centre had many over 50 years’ plus clientele

• Heavy equipment remained in the training centre, and was packed up in the facility’s centre

• Inside the peak floor 8mil away from ground
