From the School Council President
Inter school competitions Next week we have a number of students representing our school in various sporting
competitions. The T-Ballers are off to the State Championships at Jells Park in Glen
Waverley, we have a number of athletes competing in the Division Athletics at
Casey Cardinia and the Bike Ed Challenge Team is ready to ride and compete at
Newhaven Primary School. We wish all our students the very best with their
endeavours and we know they will take great pride in representing themselves and
the Wonthaggi Primary School community. As a side note there are quite a few
parent helpers who have volunteered their services with transport and assisting with
the supervision of our students. We greatly appreciate your support.
Mates Training Program Over the past three days we have hosted the Mates Training Program. This has
provided the 22 participants who hail from different parts of Victoria and from
different work environments with the opportunity to learn more about the impact of
family violence, strategies that could be implemented to assist victims and steps
that could be put in place as preventative measures. The following excerpt from
MATE-Empowering Communities Preventing Violence adds further context to the
training program
MATE is not your usual workshop – people won’t walk away with
handouts! MATE offers a facilitated open and honest discussion in a
safe space where people can talk about the issues that are present
in our culture and our everyday lives. Facilitators encourage people
to think more broadly about factors they may not have considered
as fundamental to the problem, such as sexist jokes, degrading lan-
guage, unconscious bias and objectification of women.
Hosting the Mates Training Program aligns with our involvement with the Respectful
Relationship initiative, of which we are a Lead School. Our school firmly believes that
violence towards anybody is not acceptable, especially those that are committed towards women and children. Our school is endeavouring to continue the
conversation about family violence and is taking measures to empower people
from our community to continue their work towards building a culture which is
underpinned by equality.
Colour Run for Youth Assist On Friday 22nd of September we will be hosting our first ever Colour Run. This event
will take place just before lunch and will be held on the school oval. Students are encouraged to wear casual clothes on the day and where possible wear a white
t-shirt to extenuate the full effects of the colour. Parents and Friends have done a
marvellous job preparing for this event and we look forward with great anticipation
to a day full of fun and colour. Further details about the Colour Run are in this
week’s newsletter.
Footy Colours Day The SRC and Mr Inglis have just informed me that on Tuesday of the last week
students are able to wear their footy colours. There will also be a special pie order
available through the canteen on this day. The footy colours can be from any
code of footy so please don’t limit yourself to AFL. In saying that, if you turn up to
school wearing the Brisbane Lion colours you will receive special treatment from Mr
Chandler. Go Lions!
Kind Regards
Mark Chandler

Wonthaggi Primary School is now a FarmGate! FarmGate Online is a healthy way to Fundraise while also supporting local farmers and producers. By ordering your fruit and veggies online and collecting them from Wonthaggi Primary School, 10% of the value of your order goes to the school as fundraising.
So how does it work:
• Go to www.farmgate.online and click Sign In. You'll be asked to provide some essential information to join up to the site.
• Join the Wonthaggi Primary School FarmGate.
• Browse and select from our range of produce boxes or choose the fruit and veg your family like best.
• Place your order each Monday night by 8pm and pay online using PayPal or Bank Deposit.
• We pack your order and deliver it to Wonthaggi Primary School for collection Thursdays at 3:30pm from outside the Art Room.
• 10% of the value of the orders picked up from school is then paid to the school’s fundraising account.
Wherever possible, our produce comes from local farmers. If we can't source a product from the local area, we source as locally as we can. We only purchase Australian produce!
We keep packaging to a minimum and ask our customers to return the delivery boxes for collection from the school so we can reuse and eventually recycle the packaging.
OUR KEY CODE IS - FG2147
Farmgate deliveries need to be picked up from next to the ART ROOM at 3.30 on Thursdays.

have filled this with paint. This gets given a push and
then let gravity do its work.

looks like there is a video posted to our facebook
