RAJNI BECTOR : A CASE STUDY OF SUCCESSFUL WOMEN ENTERPRENEUR

Cremica is one of the largest food processing companies of India with an annual growth rate of 30%.Cremica‘s produces wide range of products, which include: Biscuits, Sauces, Jams and

Ketchups, Indian Snacks and Bakery Products. Cremica was founded by Mrs. Rajni Bector, who started making ice creams in her garage. Though she had no formal training or background, her recipes were runaway success in Punjab. Rajni Bector is one of the first women entrepreneurs in Ludhiana. Rajni Bector was just a housewife before she started selling her kitchen-made ice

creams at Diwali Melas in the late 1970s. Today, Cremica group does sales of Rs.200 crore (Rs.2 billion) .

Below are the steps of success in which Mrs. Bector made growth in her business to be the successful women entrepreneur.

1980- Mrs. Rajni Bector an arts graduate, founder of the MRS. BECTOR‘S CREMICA started her new career from a housewife to an entrepreneur with a minor investment of Rs. 20000/- for

the manufacturing of Ice Creams & Bakery items from her residence.

2004: Mrs. Bector`s Cremica entering into an Agreement with ITC Ltd. for the manufacture of

Biscuits on contract manufacturing basis at Tahliwal, Distt Una (H.P.). This unit produces 30000 M.T. of biscuits for ITC under the SUNFEAST BRAND and 30000 M.T. under the Mrs. Bector`s Cremica label.

The Group also entered in to an agreement with Cadbury India Ltd. for supply of Cadbury Bytes with an investment of Rs. 3.00 Crores producing goods valued at Rs. 30.00 Crores annually.

McDonalds offered Mrs. Bector to run the business for West & South India.

Mrs. Bector acquired a unit at Karnal, Haryana for the manufacture of Indian Namkeens.

Her mantra of success, ―Just remember that “work is worship — whatever you do, be it at home or outside, treat it respectfully.”

India's richest woman in 2004 (an estimated Rs. 2,100 crore) ($480 million), was educated at the Bishop Cotton Girls School and Mount Carmel College in Bangalore. She founded Biocon India with a capital of Rs.10, 000 in her garage in 1978 - the initial operation was to extract an enzyme from papaya. Today, due to hard work and commitment, her company is the biggest biopharmaceutical firm in the country.

Ekta Kapoor, creative Director of Balajji Telefilms

She is the daughter of actor Jeetendra, and sister of actor Tushar Kapoor.

On Indian TV, after her most famous venture 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', which started on STAR Plus in 2000.

Ekta dominates Indian television, producing more than eight television soaps.

At the 6th Indian Telly Awards 2006, she bagged the Hall of Fame award for her contributions.

Most of her creations begin with the letter 'K' due to her superstition that it brings her good luck. Ekta is also very professional and has strong business acumen.
