President’s Message

It’s the Holiday Season! Turkeys are hiding and shoppers are rushing. I hope you are not struggling to meet expectations of the season.

Our 12th Artisan Faire is history. Elisabeth and Moe can take a deep breath and relax for a few days before they start working on the next fundraiser. But let me say they deserve a break. What an amazing job they did in organizing and carrying out our first “big” fundraiser of the the year. Our vendors were well cared for by Elisabeth and our Cafe Runner, Jeanette, and Moe and her crew kept everyone well fed at the Cafe. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their own lives to volunteer and make the day a success.

On to December...Kindred Spirits are coming on December 13 and the theme of WhiteChristmas will get everyone in the mood. Our December Tea is sure to inspire the spirit in all ofus. Two new members, Sara Needham and Charley Ault, are working on providing a true holidaytea in the English tradition. I can’t wait to see the results of their labors.

Please don’t forget the Santa Cop Wrapping Party if you offered to help on December 12. It isthe night before our next meeting at 6:00 pm. We will be giving Santa some of our beribbonedanimals to distribute at the Santa Cop event.

Happy Holidays to everyone. May Santa be good to you.

The Artisans’ Faire on Saturday, November 16th was a full day with 18 vendorsindoors a and 15 vendors outside. We even had a vendor sign up at 6:45 AM ! Stephanie Franks won the raffle price. She bought tickets to help increase money for scholarships. She did not know that she won an overnight stay at the House of Tyme, a B&B in Arroyo Grande.

We had a steady stream of people coming through, looking and buying. Not only did most of the vendors have lunch at our cafe, so did many of the people who came tothe faire. Under Moe Boyd’s experienced direction, the cafe kitchen really hummed. A HUGE THANKYOU to everyone who worked together to pull off the first big fundraiser of the year. A special thanks toJim Kelly, who, on his birthday, worked with us to take down all the tables and chairs.

We are now looking toward BINGO on January 25, 2020. Jim Kelly has volunteered to be the caller. We are looking for a volunteer to model the money hat that Snooks Powers has volunteered to make.Rose Scalzo has agreed to be in charge of the jewelry display. If you have jewelry to donate, pleasecall Rose at (805) 474-9917.

We will have admission tickets for BINGO and posters at the December meeting. Please be thinking ofpeople you can sell tickets to and where you can place posters. If you can donate a gift card or someother nice piece for raffle prizes or auction items, please let Toni Kelly know. For questions or ideas toimprove our fund raisers, please call Elisabeth Koch-Murray at (831) 595-6507.

Rest In Peace…

Long time member, Beverlee Handley, has passed away on November 1,``````` 2019. Beverlee was one very classy lady. She was statuesque, and always dressed beautifully. She was a member of PEO, Philanthropic Educational Organization, for many years. She also was a member of Alumni Newcomers. Her friends remember her as gracious, helpful, kind, never thought bad of anyone, and loving. She is survived by her daughter Bobbette, and her son, Brent, and two granddaughters. It was a privilege to know Beverlee.
