SCCS INTERVENTION
TEAM
Intervention
★ Classes are taught at a designated intervention time for about 45 minutes daily.
★ Instruction is differentiated based on individual student needs.
★ Data drives instruction on daily/weekly basis
★ Weekly Progress Monitoring
★ Intervention is a graded area and will be found on the report card.
★ Students that are eligible for intervention are retained students, repeating students from the prior year and from EC referrals.
Intervention at SCCS
At Sugar Creek, the intervention team works with your child to support them in a specific area (Math, Reading, or ESL) based on what they are learning in class to better prepare them for success in the classroom, overall subject skills, and end of grade tests.
This differentiated learning is based on the MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) system, where students are screened in classrooms and through assessments to qualify to receive these levels of support in a small group setting. The structure of the program is supported with data-based instruction and monitoring.

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides support to those students who may speak another language at home or may still be learning English. There are many different levels of ESL students and in ESL they will improve their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing across all core classes.
