Wisdom TalksJournal Introduction
Welcome to Wisdom Talks: Discussing God's Wisdom for Everyday Life.
We might think that wisdom is something that only adults
need. But, that's not true! Wisdom, or knowing what is right
and what is wrong and how to behave because of that, is important for every one at every age.
Wisdom can help you as you make decisions
right now decisions such as who you will choose to be your friends, how you should use your time, how you will respond
to your teachers, or who you should trust.
God's Word (the Bible) is full of wisdom that will help you in your everyday life.
As you study God's Word each day, you will need to have a Bible ready and a pen or a pencil. But, don't worry, there
won't be too much writing to do.
This week, we will be exploring what wisdom is, why it is important for us, and how we can get it. But, first of all, I
want to know what you think of when you think of wisdom. What do you think that wisdom is? Ask your mom or dad or teacher to help you write your answer on the lines below:

Understanding Wisdom
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments;

"Doing" God's commandments is the same thing as obeying God's commandments. When we fear God (or respect Him), we listen to His words and obey them. As we obey God, we begin to
understand God more and we grow in wisdom.Draw arrows from plant to plant below, showing how we can
grow in wisdom.

What Is Wisdom? Read Proverbs 9:10

Why is Wisdom Important for Me?"If you seek her (wisdom) as silver
And search for her as for hidden treasures;Then you will discern the fear of the LORD
And discover the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come
knowledge and understanding."Proverbs 2:46 (NASB)
This verse tells us to seek or look for wisdom as if it was S __ __ __ __ __ or
hidden __ __ __ a __ __ r __ __.What do you think that this verse is trying to tell us about the
importance of wisdom? (Check the box next to the right answer.)
Wisdom is not very important. It's really not worth looking for.
Wisdom is super important. We should be looking for it, and if we find it, we will be very glad.
Wisdom is kind of important. If we have time, we should look for it, when we're not busy doing other things.
Let's go on a treasure hunt right now into God's word, the Bible, to find God's special book of wisdom. Take your Bible and try to open it right in the middle. Look at the top of the page. If it says "Proverbs", then you have found it! If it says "Psalms",
try going forward a few pages. If it says "Isaiah", "Song of Solomon" or "Ecclesiastes", go backwards a few pages. Try it
again! Each time you find the book of Proverbs, circle a treasure chest below.
Lesson Three, Level Two
"What do I need to have before I can get wisdom?"
Before we can get wisdom, our hearts need to be ready to become
wise. Below are four different heart attitudes that we need to have before we can get wisdom.
Draw a line from the verse to the heart attitude that the verse talks about.
Before honor comeshumility. Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the LORD isthe beginning ofknowledge. Proverbs 1:7
Listen to counsel andaccept discipline, that youmay be wise the rest ofyour days. Proverbs 19:20
But if any of you lackswisdom, let him ask ofGod, who gives to allgenerously and withoutreproach, and it will begiven to him. James 1:5
Bonus Question: Who will give us wisdom
when we ask for it?
A Heart that Listens
A Heart of
Humility
A Heart that Asks
A Heart that Fears the Lord

Wisdom TalksLesson Four, Level Two
Wisdom TalksLesson Four, Level Two
"Where Can I Get wisdom?" "Where Can I Get wisdom?"
The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true;
they are righteous altogether.
They are more desirable than gold,
yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the
drippings of the honeycomb.
Wisdom is not hard to find! We just need to know where to
look for it.
According to this Psalm, it is the testimony of the Lord that
makes people wise. Testimony, law, precepts,
commandment, rules, judgments - these are all other ways
of saying that the words of God, which can be found in the Bible, are what will make us wise.
On the next page, see how many of the bold words from
the Psalm above you can find in the word search.

Proverbs 23:22

Wisdom TalksLesson Six, Level Two
A Man Who PrayedIf God promised you that you would be granted one prayer
request, what would you ask for?
In today's Bible reading, you will read about a man who was
given this opportunity.
Read 2 Chronicles 1:7-13
One night, God appeared to (David, Solomon) and
said to him, "Ask what I shall give you." Solomon said,
"God, you have dealt very kindly with my (father, brother), David, and have made me king in his place.
Give me now (riches, wisdom) and (wealth, knowledge) that I may rule this great people."
God said to Solomon, "Because
you have asked for wisdom and
not riches, or wealth, or honor, or
revenge on your enemies, I have
granted your request. I will also
give you riches and wealth and
(many horses, honor) such as
none of the kings before or after
you will ever have."
As you read the story below, circle the best word to
complete each sentence.
