Working with PF was a great experience. We got an opportunity to learn many things. With the kinds of jobs assigned to us, we got a clear view of how things should work at a promoting stage. WORK DONE

While working with PF as an intern, we were assigned various kinds of works which helped in our development. We came across various difficulties when we were marketing the Laavanya Jewellery.

Few difficulties that we came across were:

3.1 Convincing the Shopkeepers

The most difficult work was to convince the shopkeepers to buy our products. We went to a shop called Fab India where they sell only their brand, we realised that if we give our Handmade stuffs to them then they would surely remove Laavanya’s name from it. So it was a complete failure for us.

What we learnt from that is that not everyone would your help, if you wish to flourish then walk alone.

3.2 Designing of Catalogue

Catalogue designing was the task assigned to the first group. They carried out it well but the difficulty which they faced was that the catalogue was being charged afterwards.

3.3 Convincing people to promote

The second group was responsible for the promotion of Laavanya Jewellery to common masses. She decided to do in Facebook. The difficulty she faced was convincing people to promote Laavanya Jewellery page. She had to convince people to do the work for us.

Page 12: WIP PROJECT REPORT

3.4 Creating a business plan

Businessplan was the task assigned to the third group. We had to talk to those ladies, motivate them to work and making them believe that they are working for themselves and it is making them stronger. The vasahat Chikalvadi where two of us went they got to know what the living standard is. We to network with people talk to them. Business Plan included 12month sale of their products. We had jotted down the list of main holidays and festivals commonly celebrated here and asked the ladies to keep this in mind and work accordingly.

3.5 Online Selling

This work was done by me. Icreated an online showroom on ezebee.com and started posting pictures of the Laavanya products. The difficulty which I faced was that filling the Terms & Conditions, Shipping Details, Creating Blog, Talking to people who showed interest. It was a quite good initiative as the products which he posted were being shown at the top, at the market place.

IMPORTANCE OF DOING A PROJECT WITH AN NGO

During our internship with PF, we got an opportunity to learn the working of an organization. In this 15 days duration of internship, we were involved in various types of activities. We got an exposure of working with the society, with the ladies, talking with them, we also visited Chikalvadi where they live.

During this course of time got exposure of the real situation of these people and about their harsh survival. When we looked around the village the people there were unaware of the technology and yet surviving with the little amenities they have and, we saw how hygienic their environment was. Working with them helped me develop my communication skills, learn the functioning with of any organization and its hierarchy. It was our first experience working with any company. And it helped us develop my skills and also awaken our inner self.

Chapter 6

Learning

1. Online Marketing

As a student I learnt how online marketing is done, what are the requirements for that. The most difficult work was filling up the terms and conditions for the showroom I had to ask everybody for each and every thing. Setting up of the showroom as Laavanya Jewellery on ezebee.com was the great achievement for me. I also get good responses from India as well as outside the country. The products which I uploaded were on the first position in the market place.

2. Motivating people

Being in an NGO motivating people was the toughest job to do. We had to motivate the ladies to keep working and keep supporting their families. We also went to one of the vasahats called Chikalvadi where the ladies needed motivation to keep them up. Just a pat on their shoulders complementing their talents worked very well.

3.Taking help of society

Society helps very much in these type of works. We also talked to some of the other ladies too there and tried convincing to take up this the jewellery making training session which can dig up their inner talents. The work was much difficult than we thought off. Convincing them to learn first then work was very much tough for us.

Page 16: WIP PROJECT REPORT

4. Difference between practical and theoretical work

We learnt the major difference between practical work and theoretical work. Practical is way difficult it requires skills which has now sharpen working with Pragati Foundations.

5. Thinking process of the under privilege youth.

Visiting Chikalvadi gave us the exposure about thinking ability of the people ladies to work at all they were holding them back not allowing them to work.

6. Social media can be used for marketing of products.

We came to know that how social media can help us promoting the products. Social media is the biggest platform for promotion as it reaches to the mass faster that anything. As internet is the only way today.

7. Need for the right information

Like to market online you need to have some information about it. I first gathered all the information then went for it and created a market place to sell the products. The products were also featured in the top place in the handmade jewellery section. I learnt that to accomplish any task you need to have some knowledge some information about them.

8. Time management and Discipline

It is the most important thing which you need to have to complete your things on time. I learnt how it should be done and how to complete my task with limited resources.

Conclusion

Working for Pragati Foundations and getting associated with the team of Laavanya Jewellery was a great experience for us. It made us look to the world with a different perspective. The immense talent which the ladies have is undoubtedly awesome. Pranali ma’am and Pratiksha ma’am were very helpful and Trupti ma’am and Ranjan sir supported us in all stages of work.

At last I would like to thank my college management and Mrs Shobha Bhuwalka ma’am for giving us an opportunity to work with an NGO called Pragati Foundations.

Therefore we feel very proud to be a part of PF and Laavanya and associated with the organization as intern.
