Save The Date

On 29th December, Gloucester Rugby welcomed both Sale Sharks and a Pied Piper Appeal crew of volunteers to Kingsholm Stadium. Handing out Pied Piper balloon models in return for donations, an enthusiastic Old Cryptians Rugby Club supplied an army of volunteers to collect donations around the ground.

Huge thanks to businesses and individuals who volunteered too – Tewkesbury Printing, Play Specialists from GRH Children’s Centre, Boiswood LLP, Jelf, CGT Lettings, Tania Bowman and Mike Wilkinson – we raised over £4,000 on the day!

Get Kitted OutThe office team have been working hard to secure us some fabulous Pied Piper branded clothing in association with Raging Bull Sportswear. Look out for the range of supporter items that will be available for anyone to buy online from April. Every item purchased helps to raise funds. Buy and wear with pride!

With the final payment of £110,000 from Pied Piper’s £500,000 pledge imminent, building work has begun on the Chamwell Centre! Expected to take around 18 months, the centre will offer a variety of inclusive activities for disabled children, families and the local community. We’ll keep you updated as the build progresses.

With incredible support from the local business community, we managed to absolutely smash our 1000 toys target, and have kitted out the Children’s Centre at GRH with enough toys to last the entire year!

Children on the wards and their visiting siblings received Christmas gifts throughout the festive period and the playroom was restocked with Pied Piper goodies, but the giving doesn’t stop there!

The Play Specialists make a huge difference to children’s’ experiences in hospital through supporting them with procedures in the most positive way. Children for example who have to have daily injections to manage diabetes, will work on filling a reward chart with stickers and upon completion receive a gift to reward their bravery. Other children may have birthdays or reasons to celebrate whilst in hospital.

By kitting out the Play Specialist cupboard with this many toys, Pied Piper ensures no child will go without reward or recognition during their visit to The Children’s Centre!

In February – Valentine’s Day no less – we delivered a lovely red 7-seater vehicle to Paternoster School in Cirencester. With brilliant accessibility, the school’s new Seat Alhambra can be driven by any teacher with a standard driving licence and allows more pupils to gain access to the local community. Annette Fidderman, acting head teacher added: “Trips out of school form an important part of the curriculum allowing the school to offer a broad range of experiences, which strengthen the skills they are learning in the classroom. The car will enable the pupils to be a part of the wider community and the wonderful opportunities it offers around the Cotswolds.” We offer our thanks to the Friends of Paternoster School for raising £4,000 towards this vehicle, and to Severn Signs who kindly branded the car for us too.

In January, Rachael visited Hopelands Preparatory School in Stonehouse to assist Millie, one of the pupils, in delivering an assembly. Millie was inspired to fundraise for The Pied Piper Appeal and gave an excellent presentation to her peers. The school are all united in their efforts now, soon to be getting involved in 999 Week, hosting cake sales and collecting stamps for us!

A huge thank you to Milestone School for allowing us to use their main hall to host our Quiz Night this February, where the sponsors GB Solutions have gone ‘back to school’ with themed questions and an evening of fun competition.

Crypt School in Gloucester are hosting a cake sale on 1st March to raise funds for The Pied Piper Appeal. As one of their nominated House Charities, we are delighted to be getting more involved in supporting the pupils as they co-ordinate fundraising activities themselves.

We have been overwhelmed with support by so many local organisations this winter. Here are a few who’ve got on board in the last few months.

Big Thanks To…Thank you to Plastim Ltd, Gloucester Ladies Who Latte members, Studio Fit Gloucester and Cheltenham, Waterstones Gloucester, Smyths Toystore, Officeworx, Generation Events, Gap Personnel, Fay Powell, Huntley Hairdressers, Allcooper, CCP, Simon Ellis, Baylis Vauxhall and Yvonne Denman of Utility Warehouse for your kind donations.

If you know of a school or business that’d like to celebrate the hard work our emergency services do, whilst raising some funds for Pied Piper and having a bit of fancy-dress fun, please contact the office to get involved in our annual 999 Week; this year from 23rd-26th April!

Tee Off to Raise Thousands

Brickhampton Court Golf Complex kindly hosts us again on Friday 5th July for our annual Golf Day. A brilliant day is always to be had, with outstanding hospitality, top-quality golf, plenty of food and drink and many laughs! Teams are £325 to enter and we expect this to book up quickly, so contact the office to secure your space now!

The gym team at Sports Direct Fitness in Cheltenham raised over £300 with a festive workout morning, cake sale and raffle on the weekend before Christmas! A lovely community of gym-goers, we hope to work with them again for seasonal celebrations that raise awareness and funds for our cause.

SEVEN FAMILY HOLIDAYS

Throwback To…

In early December, we welcomed in the festive spirit at a packed St Peter’s Church in Gloucester. Tireless supporters Maddie, Christine and Louise worked incredibly hard to coordinate a beautiful service. Thank you to St Peter’s Primary School, Stagecoach Performing Arts, soloist Rachel Kirby, Gloucester Cathedral Youth Choir and the Tewkesbury Town Band for performing on the night. A staggering £1,245.14 was raised; our biggest total to date at this annual event!

This year marks our tenth anniversary of hosting a summer show. Originally the Gloucestershire Motor Show, the event has evolved over the years into a great day out for all the family. These are some of the photos from our very first show back in 2010 which was a huge success. Each year the event has grown bigger and better. Combining classic cars and attractions for petrolheads with a jam-packed live music and performance stage, a fashion, beauty and craft marquee, dedicated Kids Zone and activities throughout the day, the last weekend of June is well worth booking out your diary for. Held at the glorious Highnam Court on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June, the Pied Piper Summer Show is our biggest event of the year and we are looking to raise upwards of £50,000 to put towards projects that help sick and disabled children in Gloucestershire.

Thanks to every single one of our supporters. With your support, we have financed the following projects in the last few months:

We rely very heavily on our team of wonderful volunteers who run turnstiles at Gloucester Rugby home games, bucket collect at other events in the county, do a variety of jobs in our Brockworth shop and serve teas and cakes at Highnam Court Open Garden events to name but a few. We couldn’t do any of it without you, so thank you! We also must thank the local business community and individuals who’ve chosen to support us with fundraising efforts and continue to do so. Here are a few of the last quarter’s highlights.

Our Wish Holidays also continue to be extremely important and we have sent four families to Euro Disney, one to Malaga, one to Lanzarote and two families to Center Parcs to make lifelong memories.

With family tickets at just £25 or £10 per adult and £5 per child, it’s a great day out and all in aid of a good cause. Keep an eye on piedpipersummershow.co.uk for updates and information.
