On November 19, 2011, Finmeccanica hosted its third annual concert in honor of injured wounded warriors at the Embassy of Italy. Over 100 wounded servicemen and women, family members, staff, and caregivers from Walter Reed National Medical Center, Fort Meade, and Fort Belvoir attended the performance titled "Opera's Most Enchanting Mo-ments." The New York Opera Society Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Em-manuel Plasson, presented a musical performance of famous opera pieces. Finmeccanica North America’s Chief Executive Officer Simone Bemporad presented a charitable dona-tion to the Aleethia Foundation as appreciation of Aleethia’s efforts in working “tirelessly everyday to help our injured warriors and their families…” Bemporad said “We are proud of their ongoing commitment and dedication to assisting and raising awareness of these individuals’ tremendous courage and sacrifice.” Thank you Finmeccanica!!!

DORN VA MEDICAL CENTER— THE BUDDY PROGRAM!

South Carolina young veterans have been subjected to extended hardships because of the economy. Our friends in the OIF/OEF liaison group at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina have con-tacted us during the holiday season to secure financial assistance for young veterans with serious hard-ships. Thanks to your generous support we were able to help the veterans with rent, gas, car payments, food, heat and gifts for their kids. We helped eight families with just over $15,000 and four more families in other areas with another $5,000 in November & December.

We want to thank our friends at the VA for their never ending support to our veterans and for their genuine concern for the well being of the veteran’s families. Pedro and his associates at Dorn VA are marvelous people working hard to help the troops.

Since we do not have any way of verifying service or need, we only provide grants to troops brought to us by trusted sources. We have helped several more service members throughout the year with small grants for household items, computers, small home repairs, etc.

Executive Director, Hal Koster sends a special thank you to all the wonderful volunteers, donors and sponsors who make The Aleethia Foundation’s “Friday Night Dinners” a special and memorable evening for our injured service members.

THANK YOU!!! FOR VOTING FOR ALEETHIA FOUNDATION IN THE “TOYOTA 100 CARS FOR GOOD” PROGRAM.

This new Toyota mobility van has been put to good use since we received it on No-vember 3, 2011. Aleethia has provided wheelchair accessible transportation for hos-pitalized service members who are recovering at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center - Bethesda. Trips out to dinner with family, sporting events, special events and more. It has been a helpful, cost effective way for Aleethia Foundation to further assist newly injured and ill service members. We were overwhelmed by all the wonderful people who stepped up and voted. But, the troops ruled and they de-served this special recognition. This was about more than just winning a free van!

William Grant & Sons have partnered in a charitable promotion to benefit the Aleethia Foundation. Dur-ing the months of February, March & April a donation will be made to the Aleethia Foundation for every case of Sailor Jerry Rum sold by their distributors in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC and this year their distributors in Texas, North Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, South Dakota, Louisiana and the Navy Ex-change Service Command “NEXCOM” will participate in this program. Since 2010, over $17,000 has been raised through this annual fundraising event. So enjoy a Sailor Jerry Rum drink at your local bar, buy a bottle or buy a case and support Aleethia!
