2 Installation process
Once the download is finished you will find the file named W42_lockheed_vega.zip at the location you chose. You can open this archive file by double clicking it.
Inside the zip archive, you will find the setup application for the Vega. Simply drag & drop the setup file to another location (for instance on your desktop). Once the application finished extracting you can start the installation process by double clicking on the setup file. Depending on your Windows installation you might get asked to confirm that the setup application gains administrative control. Administrative control is absolutely necessary in order for the installation to be completed, therefore please acknowledge the dialog box with Yes.
Please note that some users might experience a warning message of Windows Defender. We are aware of this problem and are working towards finding a solution. Until a more permanent solution is available, you can continue the installation by first clicking the button labelled More info and then Run anyway. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The setup program
The setup program will guide you through the installation process and should be very intuitive.
When you get to the step where you must chose a simulator platform to install the product to, be aware of the following:
The Lockheed Vega installer automatically detects which simulator platform is installed on your computer by looking for the platforms’ entries in the registry. Please note that the installation can only be successful if the setup application can find those registry entries and therefore some options might be disabled for you.
By default, Prepar3D and FSX store aircraft under <sim_root>/SimObjects/Airplanes/. If your configuration differs from this, you can change the installation directory on the next screen. Click on “Browse” and navigate to the folder you want your aircraft be stored in.
If you have a standard installation of your simulation platform, you can simply skip this step by clicking “Next >”.

The next page lets you choose a location in your start menu into which the installer will copy some useful links to the documentation.
Alternatively, you can skip this step by selecting the checkbox labelled “Do not create shortcuts.
Once all the information is complete, setup will begin to extract all necessary files to your selected simulator.
2.1 Multiple Installations
If you want to install the Lockheed Vega onto different simulator platforms at the same time, you can do so by running the setup program again, this time selecting your secondary platform.

3 Uninstall
The setup program will copy a small application to uninstall the Vega from your system. You can find under:
C:\Users\<your user name> \AppData\Local\Wing42\Lockheed Vega\Uninstall.exe
After the welcome screen, you can select which version of the software you want to uninstall. Please note that only installed versions of the Vega are available for your selection.
If you have multiple versions of the Vega installed on different platforms, but only want to remove one of them, the uninstaller will keep commonly shared files like the manuals and the data files. However be aware that if you chose
uninstall the last Vega, those files will be deleted as well.
Once you made your choice, the uninstall application will automatically remove all the files associated with the selection.

4 Appendix A – content of the installer
We take the integrity and security of your computer very seriously and for better transparency we want to line out what files are included in our installer package and where they are being copied to.
Registry entries
During installation, the setup program of the Lockheed Vega is making some entries into your registry. It is saving the language you selected and which version of the product is installed. All the registry entries can be found under:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wing42\Lockheed Vega
Prerequisites
There is only one pre-requisite to the Lockheed Vega to run properly in your sim.
The Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable is a library of functions that are necessary for the gauges to work properly and, depending on your chosen platform; either the 32 Bit version or the 64 Bit version of the library is required. Both of them are included in the setup archive and the appropriate version is installed automatically in the background.
Simulation files
The setup program is creating the three directories in the default SimObjects folder of your simulator platform (<sim root>/SimObjects/Airplanes/). The folder Wing42 Lockheed Vega shared/ contains audio files, panels and textures that are shared between the different variations of the Vega. Wing42 Lockheed Vega 5 special/ contains the 3d models and textures for Wiley Posts “Winnie Mae” and Wing42 Lockheed Vega 5/ contains the models and textures of all other variants of the Vega.
In addition the installer will copy some files directly into the flight simulator’s root system. Those files are:
Folder Files What it does <sim root>\Fonts\ Om Telolet Om.ttf
veteran typewriter.ttf Fonts for the 2d panels – maintenance manual and ground crew interface.
<sim root>\Effects\ Various files with the fx_l5_ prefix.
Effect files for the lights, smoke puffs and dirt.
<sim root> \Effects\texture
fx_l5_flame.bmp fx_l5_1.bmp

Application data
Also, setup will create a folder structure in your operating systems %localappdata%. You can find it by entering %localappdata% into the navigation bar of windows explorer or by browsing to:
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\
Be aware that this folder is set “hidden” by default and access needs to be granted through the explorer’s properties.
At this location, you’ll find the folder structure Wing42\Lockheed Vega\. Here, you’ll find the manuals of the Lockheed Vega, a copy of the software licensing agreement and the uninstall application after the setup program finished with the installation.
Additionally, this folder is used to store the persistency data of the Vega and a log file once you completed a flight with the Wing42 Lockheed Vega.
