consumption and waste, encourage safe handling of chemicals, improve air and water quality, restore our environment to full health and reduce our carbon footprint. Council offers a range

of workshops and events to engage our community in practical ways they can improve our environment. Workshops are free unless stated otherwise and dates are highlighted on the

calendar. Remember to dress appropriately for field trips and practical workshops.

The course runs over three consecutive Saturdays. The course includes theory and practical components. It is a Council requirement that all volunteers working on Council land complete these sessions. They can be completed in any order over a two year period.

Introduction to Natural Area Restoration 9am - 1pm, Saturday 12 JuneThis workshop includes an orientation to natural area restoration (also known as bush regeneration), Council’s Bushcare program, an introduction to weeds and a practical session on the hand removal of non-woody weeds in the field.

Woody Weeds and Occupational Health and Safety Issues 9am - 1pm, Saturday 19 JuneThis session focuses on general occupational health and safety issues to do with working in bushland, woody weed removal (sometimes involving the use of herbicide) and there is a practical session using woody weed removal techniques out in the field.

Natural Area Restoration History, Strategies, Fauna Issues and Site Assessment 9am - 1pm, Saturday 26 June Fauna issues, the history of natural area restoration as well as the techniques used are covered in this session. It concludes with a group activity to create a Bushcare Action Plan which ties together all that has been learnt in the previous workshops.
