    Dear Cardinal Fans:

Few athletic events can equal the color, excitement and thrills ofgood college football.

As you enjoy the 1979 William Jewell College football campaign, Itrust you will remember that intercollegiate athletics is centralto the liberal arts education for which William Jewell College isrenowned. It is for this reason that the college fields a total offifteen intervarsity teams for men and women. And while an un-usually large percentage of the student body is actively involvedin intercollegiate athletic endeavors, even more profit from theextensive intramural program.

Athletic competition demands long hours of preparation and study,as well as a sense of dedication and self-discipline. Certainlywhen these qualities are applied to other life experiences, a betterperson results.

So, we welcome you to participate in the excellent tradition ofWilliam Jewell College athletics. May your enjoyment of this gamebe enhanced in the knowledge that those who compete here are pre-paring for leadership in tomorrow's world.

    Sincerely yours,

    m/ /f. j
