WideTEK
® 36DS is the world´s first wide format duplex
scanner for digitizating two sided printed documents up to 36
inches (915 mm) wide. At 300 dpi optical resolution, the scanner
needs only 2.5 seconds to scan the front and back of a newspaper
page in a single pass through the scanner. The scanner has two
camera boxes, each holding three CCD systems. After scanning,
software separates the scan into four single images; capturing the left
and right half of the front and back of the newspaper - everything in
one single step.

The WideTEK
® 36MFS offers the smallest single
footprint MFP system on the market at approximately
60 x 30 inches with a 48 inch high scan table. By using only a
WideTEK® 36 color CCD scanner and floorstand with the Scan2iPF
software option, operators can continue scanning while the printer is
still printing and match the Canon imagePROGRAF series printer
output speeds. Why buy a fast printer if you have to wait for the
scanner to finish?

The Bookeye
® 3 R1 is outfitted with a motorized book cradle that
includes three types of adjustment controls. Press a a button and the
adjustable cradle plates bring both sides of an open book to the
same level under the glass plate, allowing the camera to capture the
document with optimal clarity. The cradle plates also optimally adjust
to the width of the book´s spine without exerting unnecessary
pressure on the book. Documents remain in their ”natural” state on
the scan surface and don‘t need to be unbound or positioned.

Batch Scan Wizard allows scanner operators to automate
scanning large volumes of documents. The software
expedites data throughput and reduces operational tasks
substantially. A batch is started either using the foot
switch or the user interface of the Batch Scan Wizard.
In addition to standard scan parameters like brightness,
contrast, color mode or file format; Batch Scan Wizard
offers Scan Tool for predefining regions in a document to
extract, scan and save as separate images. A previously
scanned document can be modified and the resulting
image quality improved without having to rescan.
The operator can configure frequently used functions and
operations on hotkeys and activate them with the single
press of a key. Even complex operations can be
configured for hotkeys.
Batch Scan Wizard is available for purchase and for
download online in the Customer Service Portal. The
optional foot switch is also available for purchase via our
Customer Service Portal.

8 bit grayscale contains 256 possible shades of gray.
24 bit color contains a possible 16 million distinct colors. This
method of scanning produces the largest file size.
32 bit color contains a possible 16 million distinct colors as
with 24 bit color and the other eight bits are used as a separate
layer for representing levels of translucency in an object or
image.
Bitmap provides a way to store a binary image, that is, an
image in which each pixel is either black or white (or any two
colors).
Color depth is the number of bits used to indicate the color of a
single pixel in a bitmapped image. (See 8 bit grayscale, 24 bit
color and 32 bit color above).
Crop refers to removing excess information that is surrounding
an image of the original document but is not part of the image,
like a white border.
This is a glossary of some of the technical terms referred to in this catalog.
Image Access has a full list of technical terms and their definitions on our
website.
See the full glossary at http://www.imageaccess.de/?page=Glossary
Deskew is the ability of a scanner to detect that the item being
scanned is not straight and to realign the scanned image to be
straight.
DPI (dots per inch), the number of pixels per inch used in an image
and determines the resolution of the image. See also resolution.
Duplex indicates two sided documents. A duplex scanner will scan
both sides of a document at the same time. Enhanced halftone is a conversion of a multitonal image to a bitonal
image in such a way that the impression of a mulitonal image is
retained.
Footprint represents the length and width dimensions of the scanner,
indicating how much space is required for the device.
JPEG (jpg) stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group, the
committee that created the JPEG standard. It defines how an image
is compressed into a stream of bytes and decompressed back to an
image.
Mbit/s (megabits per second) – the number of bits of data that are
transferred per second. 1 megabit = 1,000,000 bits.
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is electronic conversion of
scanned images of handwritten, typewritten or printed text into
machine-encoded text.

PDF (Portable Document Format) is an open file format created by Adobe in 1993 and is
an accepted standard for digital file sharing. Resolution is degree of fineness with which an image can be recorded or produced, often
expressed as the number of pixels per unit of length (typically an inch).
