ANURADHA RAMAM, COUNCIL MEMBER

20

A lady of colour

Anuradha Ramam is like a whirl of colour that sets everything pale in its approaching path. Hues of bright colors dance

with bold designs on fluttering cottons as she walks towards you. A designer par excellence, she is also a woman with a

strong mind you cannot bend. Completely devoid of any bias of season or colour pallets, she creates her clothes with an

unstinting passion for colour and design. Bold. Bright. Beautiful.

Exquisite ikats revel with the shine of zari. Saris wait to be transformed into beautiful gowns if need be and handlooms

turn to her for more drama in their lives.

What can you do with indian fabric? Everything, according to Anuradha as she looks at the world through heavily

laden kohl eyes. Life is a drama everyday so we should have fun acting in it. Why be bound by the heat or the cold or

the rains? Fashion is a fun way to express yourself. Every single day that you are alive. So do it in the best, brightest

way you can.

She creates magic out of layering colours that haven’t seen eye to eye ever. She adds another colour if it isn’t looking

happy. Clothes swell and sway with attitude on her racks. Saris, corsets, luminous skirts, pencil pants… you name it.

Its all here in the cocoon of her store at meher chand market as it bursts with colour and festivity, no matter what day it

is!!

Fashion isn’t for the pencil thin or the ramps here. Its for real women. With imperfect bodies but perfect dreams. She

will design specially for someone who walks into the store in a matter of minutes and an overflow of grateful customer

pictures are proof of that passion and concern over each garment! You will definitely be able to find an outstanding

piece of clothing that makes you the most special woman in a room full of people.

Anuradha is really one of the most underated designers in the city because she prefers to stay in the background or

spend the day with her karigars. No profiling for her, she says. I prefer to let my colours be frank and speak from the

heart instead. And that they do... like the spectrum… they light up anything with their hues!
