Why do the stars and moon not fall down?

Visualized and illustrated by students of K-1

This booklet is a compilation of illustrations by K-1 children (age 3 ½ to 4 ½ years).

The teacher’s vigilance in supporting children’s curiosity helped her understand how 4 year olds

think, visualize and express their thoughts and ideas.

It shows how a simple curiosity of one child led other children to share their thoughts.

One night while sleeping on her terrace, Shrutika had a query, 'Why do stars and moon not fall down?’

Illustrated by Maia

Children made their thinking visible through illustration

She posed this query to her classmates the next day

Shanaya: Somebody has put glue and stuck the stars up in the sky by climbing up a huge ladder. I think it is a fairy.

Jiya: There is a very big tree and Lord Ganesha has put all the stars on the moon on top of it. Teacher: But why are we not able to see the tree and Ganesha? Jiya: Aare….Can we see the tree and Ganesha at night? It is so dark. We can see the stars and the moon only.

Mehar: Somebody has tied the stars and the moon up with the rope and hung them in the sky.
