It represents power, hence the red power tie for business people and the red carpet for celebrities and VIPs (very important people).

Flashing red lights denote danger or emergency. Stop signs and stop lights are red to get the drivers' attention and alert them to the dangers of the intersection

Red, the color of blood and fire, is associated with meanings of love, passion, desire, heat, longing, lust, sexuality, sensitivity, romance, joy, strength, leadership, courage, vigor, willpower, rage, anger, danger, malice, wrath, stress, action, vibrancy, radiance, and determination.

Red represents power and courage. The color red is the basis of the traditional red power tie or red suit in business, and the red carpet for celebrities and VIPs. Red’s association with courage and bravery makes it a color that is used often in national flags, on shields, and in achievement patches.

Just watch an old Western movie and you can immediately tell who the good guys and bad guys are by the color of their cowboy hats. This example shows that colors contribute more than just aesthetics. If you are like most Americans, you thought of the color red. For others, the same man was wearing a blue shirt. The results showed that women rated the man in red as more attractive and more Love & sexually desirable than the same man in blue. They were also more interested in relation the man and indicated they would be willing to spend more time with his when he was dressed in red.

So women find men who wear red more attractive, but maybe this result is because women have a stereotype about men who choose to wear red.

The results of these studies imply some practical dating advice: Next time you are getting ready for a date, consider injecting some red into your wardrobe. If red is not favourite color for you , then try to add just a touch of red. If you are a woman, consider red jewellery or red high heel shoes (or the recently popular black heels with a red sole). If you are a man, consider a red tie or red handkerchief.

But red is a versatile colour. It doesn't just represent love and lust; it also is used to represent power and prestige. A quick look around will tell you that this association between red and power seems to have continued into the present day: The "red carpet" is only rolled out during special events (e.g., Oscars), and only the most prestigious individuals are allowed to walk on it. The "power tie" worn by modern businessmen is traditionally red in colour. And the stereotypic image of a successful, powerful man is one who drives a red sports car.

The color red is a highly visible color that is able to focus attention quickly and get people to make quick decisions, which is one of the reasons fire trucks and fire engines are usually painted red.
