Vol. 58, No. 3 Gainesville, Florida February/March 2018

I am writing this message while still looking forward to our final events of 2017-18. Six O’Clock Scholars on March 14 will be with guest speaker Kathleen Colverson. In April, the highlight of the year will be our annual Scholarship Luncheon. It is always wonderful to meet the inspiring and enthusiastic students we have at the University of Florida. I hope to see many of you at these events as we close the 2017-18 year.

None of our events could happen without the dedica-tion of the UWC Board. Their generous and conscientious work enables UWC to continue. A huge thank you to Beverly Bartlett for her continuing to take on the responsibility of Treasurer. Recording Secretary Kathy Kidder always keeps minutes clear and accurate, keeping the Board on track. Sue Moyer has gra-ciously agreed to assist with membership yet again. None of our dinners would be possible without the event coordination skills of Joan VanRinsfelt. She has generously organized all our dinner events. Once again Susan Robell will head the committee to read Scholarship applications as well as serving as our liaison with University Athletic Association. Betsy Trent and Caroline Yale are already working on our 2018 Fall Open House.

The UWC is for all of you and is in partnership with the University … enjoy friends and events as well as supporting our students. With that in mind the Board had a “retreat meeting” to discuss the future of UWC. In June you will re-ceive a letter with our “Countdown to 100 Plans.” They are new and exciting!

Please join us for our last two events (RSVP enclosed). Remember that our membership dues are to be received in the Spring. And if you have not visited our website, take a look. Marie-Joelle Thatcher keeps it up to date and full of in-formation. It is 21st Century for sure.
