It’s that time of year when Bridget and I are reaching out
to all with an invitation to become a catechist (Religious
Ed. teacher) for the Stoughton Collaborative. Actually,
this is the time of year we are “on the prowl” seeking out
those who have the potential to serve in this role but are
reluctant to accept our invitation. These are some of the
responses we receive when we extend our invitation.

Top ten reasons why “I’m hesitant to
become a catechist because…..”

1. I don’t know if I can handle a group of kids.
2. I’m not sure that I have anything to share.
3. I’m not sure that I know just what the Church teaches.
4. I’m afraid I’ll say something wrong.
5. I don’t know if I’ll be able to answer kids questions.
6. I’m not that holy…..I’m just a regular person.
7. I don’t know if I have the time.
8. I don’t have any formal training to teach.
9. I don’t know if kids will like me
10. I’ve never taught before.

I offer the following top ten reasons for
becoming a catechist.

1. You will grow in your own faith, learn the teachings of
the Church, and deepen your relationship with Jesus.
2. Your Baptism calls you to share in Jesus’ ministry.
3. Children, teens, and adults in today’s world, more than
ever, need to hear the Good News of Jesus.
4. Children, teens, and adults in today’s world, more than
ever, need to encounter good role models of faith.
5. You have much to share with those you’ll teach,
and you’ll have opportunities to share faith with other
catechists.
6. Today’s catechetical textbooks/resources offer
outstanding support.
7. You’ll be challenged, you’ll have fun, and you’ll make
new friends.
8. You’ll be helping people deepen their relationship with
Jesus. (You’ll be evangelizing!)
9. You’ll be handing on a 2000yearold Tradition that
changes lives.
10. It’s our job: Jesus sent us to “go and teach all
nations.”

The youth of the Parishes needs your help!!
We ask that you please take time to think and pray
about joining the catechetical team. If you have any
questions or concerns regarding teaching, please do
not hesitate to call the Religious Ed. office.

The celebration of the Eucharist is the highest form of worship in the Catholic Church and it is our long standing tradition to pray for the dead at
Mass. Anyone can ask for a Mass to be offered for a special intention; the most common being for the repose of the soul of someone who died.
We reserve one intention per Mass and you can schedule a Mass by contacting the respective parish office.
Please pray for the patients of the New England
Sinai, Kindred, and Good Samaritan Hospitals.
Also for the patients and residents in treatment
at Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center,
The Arbors Assisted Living, and Copley Nursing
Home; and their caregivers.
Please pray for our sick:

23° Domingo Comum Bolem em Português 9 de Setembro de 2018
Mensagem do Pastor
Caros paroquianos:
Fazem parte do meu chamamento vocacional e
continuam a dar-me grande esperança na minha caminhada.
frente semanas, meses e, sim, anos difíceis.
tentados a desistir.
trevas. Confiai nisto. Confiai n’Ele.
N’Ele,
