Is there a need for ENGS and ENST students in the workforce?
YES, because of four imperatives:
• Firm profitability
• Compliance with environmental regulations (“license to operate”)… “The
CFR [Code of Federal Regulations] is job security”
• Compliance with societal demands (“social license to operate”)
• Rigorous science
979-845-2559

Society needs professionals who ensure firm
profitability while maintaining compliance with
environmental regulations (“license to operate”)
and societal demands (“social license to operate”)
using rigorous science

Math Placement Exam
• Transfer Students: Most transfer students are not required to take the MPE. The
exception: If you are planning to take MATH 151 at TAMU, you must have a
grade for MATH 150 at TAMU or an acceptable score on the MPE
• Freshman Students: All incoming freshmen must take the MPE. You will not be
permitted to register for a MATH course unless you have taken the MPE
• The MPE is available in the Howdy portal (howdy.tamu.edu) in the applicant tab.
The MPE takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.
