WeEMPOWER We are HONEST We are CREATIVE We COLLABORATE We DON’T JUDGE Report from our Chair Lancashire Women has undergone major changes over the last year, not least with a complete rebranding, projecting a clearer image of the organisation to its current and future stakeholders and plays an important part in our forward thinking strategy. Under the leadership of our CEO, Amanda Greenwood, positive strides have been made to identify a clear strategy, focus and identity for Lancashire Women. This year has been one of investigation, collaboration, problem solving and decision making to prepare Lancashire Women for a successful future. We are now confidently poised to deliver our forward thinking strategies. We have developed new posts and initiatives to enable us to increase revenue, reduce costs, and embrace technology and data analysis to inform our business strategy. Involvement and empowerment remain the bedrock of Lancashire Women, from both a staff and service user perspective. This is reflected in the promotion of leadership throughout our organisation. For example, Centre Managers now control elements of their budgets to meet their locality needs. We’ve embedded leadership development to provide the foundations of good leadership throughout the service. We are embracing new ways of working to future proof our financial future such as effectively using technical systems to inform business strategies. Over reliance on funding streams is being lessened by building corporate development relationships. Great strides have been made over the last 12 months to secure the future of Lancashire Women and ensure ongoing support for all Lancashire women. I am confident that the next 12 months will see the realisation of these ambitions. Meet our CEO What we hope for, in a society that cares for all, is that people can thrive. What we continue to see particularly at Lancashire Women is so many who barely survive. Women disproportionally experience poverty and its effects and whilst services around the charitable sector continue to struggle with the high numbers of those needing help and support, we see increased numbers of women coming to us in more desperate need than ever. This is not straightforward for any charity to manage as it could be so easy just to open our doors all of the time to anyone who needs help. The consequence of this however is in effect to open the flood gates where we also end up overwhelmed and eventually unable to do the work we believe passionately we are here to do. This is an important balancing act, to be open to all women and girls but ensure we are clear about what we are here to do and can do best. The year has mirrored life around us – achievements and progress on the one hand and challenges and unexpected situations to meet head on and move through. Our team of staff and volunteers ensure we meet these, but they too need support and recognition for how they are managing so we can give the best we can to the women coming to us. I thank each and every one for their contribution, their passion and skills so we can progress in our aims as well as meet the trials and tribulations of a busy and demanding year. We have so much more to do… and want to do as we continue to shift our axis as an organisation to work alongside women and girls to enable them to take their place in lives of their choosing where there are real choices for them to make and not just end up as victims of oppression, discrimination, abuse – or be seen as less than - just because of their gender! Report from our ChairLancashire Women has undergone major changes over the last year, not least with a complete rebranding, projecting a clearer image of the organisation to its current and future stakeholders and plays an important part in our forward thinking strategy.

Meet our CEOWhat we hope for, in a society that cares for all, is that people can thrive.
