What is the Financial Times?

Leeds Trinity subscribes to the Financial Times (ft.com) which is a daily newspaper with special emphasis on global business and economic news. It provides access to the latest financial stories from around the world and features an archive of company information including comment and analysis. You can sign up for daily email briefings on the topics and sectors of your choice, as well as accessing videos, blogs and interactive data.

Accessing the Financial Times

The first time you access Leeds Trinity’s Financial Times subscription you will need to register for a personal ft.com account using your Leeds Trinity email address.

Subsequent to this, enter your Leeds Trinity email address (ft.com will recognise that you have an account) and login with the password that you created when you registered.

• Or from the Library website home page https://lib.leedstrinity.ac.uk click on Databases A-Z, and then on Financial Times (ft.com) and then Click here to register and access.

If you forget your password you can request a new one by visiting the forgotten password page https://accounts.ft.com/reset-password.

You will be sent an email with a link to reset your password which is valid for one hour. If you do not reset it within the hour you can simply request another email using the forgotten password link again.

Searching the Financial Times

Click on the search icon on the top left of the home page and then type your search terms into the box that appears.

• Typing in the first three characters of yoursearch term brings up a drop down list ofsuggested search terms which you canselect by clicking on.

• Clicking on the search button or selectingfrom the drop down brings up the searchresults page containing all of the articlesrelated to your search.

Using the menu

• The menu can be accessed by clicking on the menu icon, it is the button with three lines.

• This will then open a list of all of thecontent that can be accessed on thewebsite.

By clicking on the arrow next to the section you can then see the subsections of that section and click on those which are of interest to you.

Using the navigation bar

• When clicking on or hovering oversections within the navigation bar youwill see the subsections of the mainsection that you have selected.

• You can then click on any subsection youwant to access.

myFT

myFT is a service designed to help you track the topics and stories relevant to you. Select topics to follow by using myFT buttons across the site and related stories will appear in your myFT news feed

You can also set up email alerts and newsletters based on the topics you are following, these can be delivered at a time of your choice.

Accessing the Financial Times ePaper

You can view an exact replica of the print edition of the Financial Times newspaper, complete

with turning pages, by clicking on the Today's Newspaper (ePaper) link under Tools in the bottom

menu bar.

This link also gives you access to the Financial Times archives which can be read in the same way.

How do I get help using the Financial Times?

• Click on Help Centre on the bottom menu bar within the ft.com under Support.

• Come to the Enquiry Point on the Ground Floor of the Andrew Kean LearningCentre, open Monday-Friday in term time.
