QCP CONSUMER SEALWhitford offers another dimension to help mem-bers market their cookware, bakeware andsmall appliances that use Whitford nonsticks.

“QCP” originally stood for “Quality CooperativeProgram”. Then we adapted the program foruse with the consumer, and offered retailers aseal with “QCP” that stands for “QualityControlled Product”. The seal (above) comeswith a legend that reads:

“The nonstick coating on this product has been tested according to

strict standards established by Whitford, its manufacturer.”

If a member uses the seal, the coating, ofcourse, must be a Whitford product. Whitfordalso offers use of our trademarks to QCP mem-bers (free), but there is no obligation to usethem. (Note: Only manufacturers who are QCPmembers may apply these labels for you.)

The QCP seal can be used on hang tags, labels, boxes, inserts or any printed materialused to promote the product.

For all the details of the Quality Cooperative Program, please contact Whitford (see addresses on other side).

2. Verification of film thickness (to assure the durability of the coating).

3. Verification of proper cure (which assuresadhesion and performance of the coating).

4. Verification of nonstick performance.

WHATAs evidence of strict compliance to standards, only coated housewares protected by theQCP may carry one of the nine Whitford logo-types. The logo is determined by the specificcoating used:

• Skandia: Whitford’s line of durable and reinforced nonsticks for roller coating.

• Xylan: the Whitford series of one-, two- and three-coat products.

• Quantum2: our internally reinforced coat-ings that outlast all conventional products.

• QuanTanium: our coating reinforced internally with titanium.

• Eclipse: our three-coat system that outlasts other internally reinforced coatings.

• HALO: our internally reinforced coatingthat helps cook quickly and evenly.

• Excalibur: our three-coat externally reinforced, most durable system for stainless steel.

• Eterna: our internally reinforced coatingwith the world’s long-lasting nonstick.

• Fusion: our durable sol-gel “ceramic” nonstick.

WHENOngoing. The QCP was launched in 1991, andtoday Whitford logos are seen with remarkablefrequency at retail stores worldwide. The empha-sis on quality continues to grow as competitionat every level and in every product category raises standards. Whitford intends to stay aheadof the curve.

WHYQuality is getting more and more importantand, at the same time, more difficult to controlas manufacturing and marketing are oftenseparated by continents. That’s why Whitfordoffers the Quality Cooperative Program(QCP).

The QCP helps maintain the highest quality inthe application of coatings. This helps thecookware, bakeware and appliance manufac-turers, coaters, importers, retailers — and theultimate consumer (not to mention Whitford).

The QCP helps everyone who participates.

WHOThe QCP is open to the following:

• Any coater, manufacturer, importer or exporter of housewares who agrees to verify the quality of its production by sending samples to Whitford on a prescribed basis and who has certain testing equipment required for our specific tests.

• Any retailer of housewares who wants to make sure the product coated with a Whitford nonstick is of the highest quality and who wishes to take advantage of Whitford’s offer to test samples (free). This is entirely voluntary on the retailer’s part.

HOWWhitford publishes strict application specifi-cations for all our coatings. Adherence tothese is crucial to achieving maximum quality.

Several characteristics are verified on sam-ples of all items coated with a Whitford coat-ing that are sent to Whitford for testing underthe QCP program. These can include:

1. Verification of proper surface prepara-tion (to assure good coating adhesion).
