Welcome to our first DIGITAL newsletter
Thank you for supporting our move to a completely digital format. This will save us resources, time and
the environment. We encourage you, our faithful readers, to ask other families if they have accessed the
newsletter through COMPASS or on our website. Feel free to show them how easy it is to access
COMPASS to stay up to date on all happenings at our school.
Curriculum Day - Final Day of School
School Council has assigned the last day of this term Friday 20th December as a Student-Free day. This
will mean that student’s final day for the year will be Thursday the 19 th of December. School will finish at
3.15pm on Thursday with our final assembly of the year commencing at 2.25pm with our awards
celebration at this time.
Statewide Transition Day – Tuesday 10th December
On Tuesday the 10th December, all year 6 students are expected to attend their 2020 State Secondary
School for Statewide Transition Day. They will attend Year 6 Graduation that evening here at school.
Bunnings BBQ Thankyou
A HUGE thankyou to all the families who came and helped out last Sunday at the School Council
fundraiser. Thank you to Matthew, Fiona, Lisa, Jodie, Chantelle, Sarah M, Rose, Walter, Rachael,
Mackenzie, Mary, Brianna, Deane, Josie, Kate, Sam F and Kris. Despite the weather it was a great day and
fun was had by all. And a big thankyou to our organisers Matthew and Sarah for organizing this event and
driving community engagement. We had a great outcome of raising $1000+ and look forward to our many
school council initiatives that we have in the works.
Volunteer Thank You Afternoon Tea
We would like to invite all of our wonderful volunteers to a Thank You afternoon tea which will be held
in our staff room from 1.45pm – 2.15pm next Thursday 12th of December. You may have offered
support through being on School Council, attending an excursion, covering books in the library, cooking
at a BBQ, selling raffle tickets or helping out at Breakfast Club. Our students and staff would like to share
with you a small appreciation of our thanks by enjoying this time with you. Please RSVP to the office so
we know how many to cater for.
End of Year Student Reports
We have access to a fantastic online communication tool COMPASS which enables us to have a 1-stop-
shop for our school-home communication needs. If you don’t already have access to COMPASS, feel free
to come to the office and ask for your unique username and password for access. End of year student
reports will be made available directly through COMPASS during the last week of term. If you require a
printed report, you will need to request this through the office before Friday 13th December.
Reminder regarding personal property
The Department (which includes our school) does not have accident insurance. Items of personal
property that are lost, stolen or damaged at school are not the responsibility of Glengala Primary
School or the Department. Staff and students are reminded not to bring items of value to school. Parents
are urged to include items of value on their own household insurance policies or seek advice regarding
personal insurance to cover any items which may travel outside of your house.
Foundation 2020 Transition – Final Session 9.15am – 11am
Our final Foundation Transition session for our 2020 Foundation students and families will be held on
Tuesday. This session runs from 9.15am - 11:00am. Whilst students are spending time with their teachers,
families will attend an information session with our staff to learn about school life, expectations and what
it means to be part of our Glengala family.
2020 Enrolments & School Tours
Enrolment Tours are every week Thursday 9.15am. Please call the office to book a place.
As always, if you have any concerns or celebrations you wish to share please come and see myself, Sam C
