Where does the time go?
Dear BCE Family, Friends and Staff:
How can it possibly be October already!? Pumpkins and au-
tumn leaves... and a Hoedown at BCE! There is a lot coming
up at Bluff Creek including Parents as Partners Night. MEA is
right around the corner followed closely by Fall Conferences
and our Autumn Book Fair. Details on these dates and more
can be found in this newsletter.
If you missed our presentation at Family Night you can click
over to our website to view it now.
1st Ever Dickey’s Night - The Results!
Thank you to everyone who came out on September 30 to en-
joy some Texas BBQ and support the Bluff Creek PTO and the
Playground. The staff at Dickey's didn't seem convinced when
we told them there would be a big crowd, but they believe us
now! And they promise to be even more on their game next
time.
Dickey's tells us that Tuesday, September 30 was the busiest
day in the history of their store. They increased our portion of
the sales to 20% and told us that all other fundraisers they
have hosted couldn't hold a candle to the Bluff Creek Lions.
Thanks to all of you, we raised nearly $400 dollars.
Thank you Lions! You are Roar-some!
2014 Chanhassen Storm Homecoming Parade
The PTO is so proud of our Lions! Bluff Creek participated in
the Chanhassen Homecoming Parade for the first time this
year. Our Lions were so spirited that they won BEST Elemen-
tary Representation in the parade! Way to go Lions!
Parents as Partners - Tuesday, October 14
Join us as Bluff Creek Elementary and the PTO cooperatively
present Parents as Partners. The presentation will be preced-
ed by a General PTO meeting. The PTO meeting will be an op-
portunity for parents to provide feedback and input on our
2014 fundraisers held to date.
Staff Appreciation
Please Welcome Our Newest Board Members
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to
our new board members!
Scholastic Book Fair
The Fall Book Fair begins online on October 17 and at school on Oc-
tober 23. Visit our online book fair at
http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/bluffcreekelemsch. Book
orders placed online will be delivered to school after the close of the
sale on November 3.
Our book fairs aren't just opportunities for our students to get their
hands on great books. It's also a way to fill our Media Center with
new, interesting and inspiring materials. Every dollar you spend at
the Book Fair helps fund our Media Center. You can also donate a
book to a student in need or to your child's classroom. Please come
down and see what's new!
Community & Kindness Day
Student Directory is Here!
Watch for your 2014-2015 Bluff Creek
Student Directory to come home with
your eldest student. Each family will
receive one directory. Students with
dual households will receive two di-
rectories.
Please remember that the directory is
intended for use by Bluff Creek fami-
lies only and should not be used for
any other purpose.
We hope you'll join us for Parents as Partners on Tuesday, October
14. A presentation on internet safety will be preceded by a General
PTO meeting at which we will be discussing fundraising, a recap of
the fundraising to date and a look over our event calendar. We will
be distributing a survey to give the PTO Board important input from
our parents.
We are always in need of dedicated volunteers and the month of Oc-
tober is no exception. Please watch for emails from Volunteer Spot
to sign up for a variety of opportunities. If you do not currently re-
ceive Volunteer Spot emails, please click here to sign up on our
website.
We welcome any and all feedback, so please feel free to contact
us via email or through the PTO website.
Sincerely,
Erin Buss & Sara Maves
Please welcome Andrea Daly, our newest Vice
President! Andrea will team with our current VP,
Holly Brown and bring incredible support to our
Co-Presidents and board as a whole and we
couldn't be more excited about it! Andrea is the
mother of three boys, including twin first grad-
ers at BCE. As a former business owner, she
brings a powerful talent for organization, fi-
nancial consciousness and leadership to the
Board. Andrea attended the
University of Notre Dame and is a proud
Fighting Irish alumni.
Please welcome our new Treasurer! Karin
O'Hara has joined our board and we are
thrilled. Karin is a Vice President of Accounting
for a major insurance provider. She is the
mother of three, her oldest being a kinder-
gartner at BCE. Karin also brings non-profit
experience with her, making her a tremendous
asset to our Board. Karin is a University of St.
Thomas alumni and was once a resident of
Boston, Mass.
Be a Volunteer!
