I'm guessing you may wonder what a 'book' has todo with custom restorations. Well, from my few

years meeting, knowing, and seeing the incredibleprojects coming out of Chopper's Rods & CustomsRestoration out of Princeton, Minnesota, I have triedto understand and write in my words all he has tooffer. I seem to fall short every time. I thought maybeI would try again and ask for his help. As we foundout, his knowledge and experience just can't be docu-mented. It was an amazing sight as I would mention

a make, model, year and you could just see the men-tal checklist instantly taking form in Chopper's head.

All of the 'normal issues' that could happen, the end-less possibilities, the attention to every detail. As fastas I could think of one, he would have a response, notrunning to grab a manual or book, just from the massamount of experience. When I said, 'Chopper, youshould write a book." We both laughed and realizedit would almost be impossible. He says cars are like

people, they all have their own personality traits.

For example, my Dad has a '56 Chevy he isworking on, and during a visit to the shop therewere two of the 3 Tri-5s (as Chopper refers tothem), I had to ask his thoughts about thosecars. I would have never imagined the amountof knowledge I would so quickly gain. Every-

thing from suspension set up to what Choppercalled the 'mid-life pregnancy' with the 2 doorhard tops. He had ideas and solutions for every

inch, and I couldn't wait to share just a smportion of that with my Dad.

That also brought me back to the first timmet Chopper in person. How many times hayou heard that you only have one chance

make a first impression? This is one thing thChopper's Rods & Customs & Restoratiowill never have to worry about. I had never mChopper, been to his shop, and chose to vihim without prior research about his compaonline. I wanted this to be a testament of told saying to see if it could still hold true today's world.

As I drove to the shop in Princeton, I thougabout the many places I had visited before ahow many claimed to do restorations or buhot rods and do custom work. Many timehad been let down by hearing one thing afinding out another. As my GPS guided mcloser I cleared those images and wanted to the work speak for itself. I took my final tuand right away the front windows and doorthe shop put a smile on my face. There wfull, colorful view through graphics showcasihot rods, muscle cars, and classic cars as ypulled in.

I slowly opened the front door and found mself in a room that showed a true passion for epression. The walls were precision painted ahad decal work with cars and flames. Thewere nicely organized acrylic cases all nicehung on the walls displaying diecasts

NASCAR, NHRA, hot rods, muscle cars, antiquecars, trucks and motorcycles. A vision I havewanted in my own home many times. As Ilooked at the numerous trophies I kept seeingthe same thing on them; 'Spectators Choice','Best Street Machine', and countless 'Best ofShow'. I was able to take all of this in during avery short period of time, and my first impres-sion was already forming, but could the nextstep into the shop area keep it going?

Just as I was about to move my way to the shopgarage door to introduce myself to whoever Iheard moving back there I heard a sound thatmade my heart race and made me stop moving.I had no idea what it was coming from, only

that it had massive horsepower not skipping abeat as the RPMs were brought up. Then a fewseconds later I could smell the high octane racefuel. The rumble stopped and I just stood theretaking in the smell and sound I had just experi-enced.

In walked Fred Brightman, better known as'Chopper'. He apologized for the cloud I was en-joying and opened a few shops doors to clearthe air quickly. I quickly let him know therewas no apology necessary and I was more in-terested in seeing where it had came from. Iscanned the first room and saw three cars inprocess; a '55 Chevy, a '56 Chevy, and a Corvettein the paint room so I knew it wasn't them. Tothe left I quickly caught view of a '41 Willy, butthat was also in process. As we walked into an-other bay it became obvious what had madethat beautiful sound. There in front of me wasa breathtaking orange 1966 Sting Ray withgolden toned ghost flames, and a 540ci with an871 Blower Shop blower sticking out of thehood. After the initial shock was over I foundmyself slowly walking around the car lookingat the paint, interior, engine, tires, and witheach area I kept finding the same thing.....which

was nothing! Nothing out of place, nothinghacked together, not a short cut anywhere!

Finally I was able to get my attention off the carand start digging into who Chopper was andhow this business was created. I will admit, hehad definitely made a first impression and along lasting one!

Chopper is adamant about being honest, fromhis first project to every detail on his currentones! He remembers his first restoration and ad-mits being scared to death, keep in mind he hasbeen self taught from day one. It was a 1955Ford Thunderbird and it took about 2 yearsfrom start to finish. Another thing Chopper was

very dedicated to was his vow to never do any-thing with a 'good enough' attitude. As he ex-plained to me, why would you have such a

passion for something and take the chance jeopardizing your name by taking short cuand doing less for others than you would do yourself? Actually Chopper said, "I often evfind myself doing even more than expectwhich is what makes the difference whencomes to being 'best in show'." Even when customers say, "Just make it look 'Ok'"...he wnot allow himself to do less than perfect.

Chopper wants to take your project from coplete tear down to final detailing. He mad

great point when he said, "The buck stohere!" What a true expression for showing passion to his industry. By taking the complproject there is never a chance someone cmess with the schedule or blame another pson for an error. Chopper is completely condent in the entire process and wants you to fthe same. That being said, he has had his shof 'fixes' that end up on his doorstep, but agahe is proud to say he creates repeat customwhen they finally find their shop that spares details.

The times I have spent at the shop and speaki

with Chopper via phone have never seemedbe enough. There is always so much morwant to hear and see. The same goes for current customers. It seems some of thbarely get one project out the door and asearching to bring him the next. He has buireputation of honesty, integrity, loyalty to craft, and created a shop that takes care of yoevery need for restoration or creating a true cutom.

I asked Chopper what he felt the key to his sucess has been, which he replied, "It's somethiI truly love doing! If you have a true passifor what you do, it will show in your work

Chopper was also proud to say Mike Grundewho has been with him since 1993 has beenvery large part of why things continue to run

smoothly at the shop. He said he was lucky

enough to find someone just as meticulous andwho takes as much pride in his work as himself.

I will say with no doubt that if you are lookingfor a place for restoration or custom work, thenlook no more. With Chopper's Rods & Cus-

toms & Restorations, you have found your Der

Kobblers. You will find those words on some ofChopper's builds and has been called that bymany who have crossed his path. It means 'TheCraftsman' in German. Chopper is a humbleman who admits he is always learning even

though he has many years of experience asays he has no plans on ever stopping!

To end this visit I was able to see one of tmost perfect blacks ever laid down....and on1962 Corvette to top it off! The car belongsChopper's brother-in-law who has owned it many years. Chopper laughed when he sCharlie keeps everything. Charlie had alwawanted to build a car he never had so he starton the project himself. After the many houand stress of getting those body lines of t

corvette streamline, he had had enough. Tcurves of the car were turned over to Choppalong with the chassis. The two spent time gether as Charlie, admittedly not a 'car guy' da great job assembling it back together piece piece. 'Charlie loves cars,' said Chopper anow he can take extra pride in what he willspending hours cruising in. They set in a 3Stroker and a TKO 5-speed. Premier Auto Uholstery out of Rogers, Minnesota did the cam(light tan) color leather interior. Keep your epeeled at this year's Back to the 50s, as you wbe able to catch a close up view of the crafmanship for yourself.

4 U Pops!In 2000, William was diagnosed with cancer and was inand out of the hospital. Through the hospital visits J re-calls that when it seemed his dad was at a low he would

mention the latest updates for their project, which he said

would lighten his fathers spirits. Sadly Williams battlewith cancer ended with his passing on March 10th, 2001.

Even though he was not able to finish the 1940 FordCoupe project himself, J and his family made a promise to

him that the car would be completed as he had wished.

They did just that! Written by Ceaja Philp

A dark alley in South Minneapolis, MN,sitting next to a burn barrel sure doesntsound like great place to be for a dia-mond in the rough. In 1964, WilliamLukawski recognized the same thing, gave the owner $40 and brought homehis project car. It was a chore just to get

the 1940 Ford Coupe Deluxe home thatday, with missing floor boards and tryingto keep from falling through what wasleft of them as he shifted the gears.

Lukawski got his Coupe together andraced it in the late 1960s and early 1970s.The Ford has seen many different enginesunder its hood, including a 283, 327 anda few 350s. After the birth of their son, Jin 1969 and his daughter Terri, in 1971,the Ford Coupe became a daily driver, running errands, getting groceries, goingto work and so on through the late 70sand early 80s.

In 1994, J and his dad decided to start acomplete restore on the family car. Thistime it was to have things such as air con-ditioning, new interior (now that the kidswere ice cream safe), power windows, brakes and more.

They were excited to take the car in tohave it dipped (an acid process to rid allthe old paint, rust, etc). Excited untilthey saw the car afterwards and realized

a lot of the car was now gone. The proj-ect then became bigger with having toput in a new floor, firewall and otherparts that came up missing after theprocess had been done.

They continued working on the Coupeon and off while working on other cars

along the way for the next 5 years. With the help of Julianne Lukawski, Jsmother, with how she felt her husbandwould have liked to see the Coupe com-plete, they were able to get it done thevery morning of the 2003 GSTA show. They rolled it out of the shop and to theshow. It was a very happy moment for theentire family. The 1940 Ford Coupe thathad been a part of their lives for so manyyears was sitting on the show room flooras an entry.

The beautiful Coupe was nominated for

Street Rod of the Year by MSRA in 2003(only 12 are chosen and voted onthrough the year). It was again nomi-nated in 2005, but this time won, andthroughout 2006 it was celebrated asMSRAs Street Rod of the Year.

Another award that stands out to thefamily is the Silver Hacksaw Award, givenout by the Twin Cities Roadsters. It wasgiven to them at the MSRA event in 2004.This award is given to a non-member

with a pre-1949 closed car that they feewould be the perfect carif you cut thtop off, as they are a convertible group

J is proud to say they hold many otheawards with their family car and himother drives this car still today.

There is so much care and love that habeen put into the completion of thLukawskis prize 1940 Ford Coupe. Evethe license plate expresses their love fothe man who holds the most special placin their hearts, which reads, 4U POPS

Today, their 1940 Ford Coupe features 1967 Corvette 327 with 425hp, 700Rtransmission with overdrive, 9 Ford reaend with 355gears, paint by Unique Bodand Paint, interior by Bills Auto Trim ansuch luxuries such as power windowpower seats, cruise control, stereo sys

tem, and A/C. The body has been modfied by shortening the bumpers, hiddehandles with poppers for the doors antrunk, and the hood has been nosedwith 2 inches cut out.

There is no doubt meeting J and hmother at this years 2010 GSTA, the bluflamed 1940 Ford Coupe Deluxe will bpassed from generation to generatiowith great pride and a wonderful story ttell.

We are finally in the throes of the summer season.

Hopefully by now youve had some opportunity to

enjoy some of your good weather pastimes, hobbies

and passions. This time of year leads to the inevitable

turning of wrenches among those of us in the motor-

sports world. This leads me to this months topic,

    Built not Bought.

Whether your mission is to fix that which is broken or

to modify and enhance that which we own there is

something entirely therapeutic about twistingwrenches, torqueing bolts or laying the bead on the

perfect weld. As a kid I realized quickly that stock did-

nt rock. The cool guys in racing all had stickers of the

brands they ran on their fenders and back windows.

It started by adding a DG pipe to my ATC110 when I

was 8, low pro tires and exhaust on an ATC185S, pro-

gressing to full carb and cam setups along with tires,

seats, fenders, air cleaners, axle extenders, etc. on a

200X that I ultimately put on the track at the age of

    11. There was a real feeling of Christmas morning

when the boxes or a new issue of Dirt Wheels would

arrive to see what else could be done to trick out my

    rides.

Naturally this curiosity of just how far can you push

a project lead to modifications on off road race bikes

and finally cars and trucks. At age 13 I tackled what

would be one of my all-time favorite and most form-

ative builds, a 1976 Buick Skylark that would be

stuffed with a Pontiac 400 engine of our building. Of

course this car was not meant to house an engine

much less a built and bored version packed with Per-

formance Automotive Wholesale parts but we hadcommitted to it and it would be road worthy in time

for my 15th birthday. On a handmade, school shop

class built engine stand and with a ton of help from an

extremely talented neighbor and somewhat patient fa-

ther, the monster took shape. From this endeavor I

had gained the skills in both mechanics and fabrica-

tion to spur on a lifetime passion for motorsports.

Having had a great experience in building at an early

age to the best of my skill level and learning infinite

lessons of what to do and what not to do on future

builds was perhaps one of the more valuable life les-

sons a young man could learn. The blood, sweat and

tears associated with that build lead to about 10-15

additional projects since then some of which have

been magazine features, placed into collections in

Japan and even one on display at Beam Global in

Chicago. Through all the years of working and build

ing I still have to say the ones I look most forward to

are the ones yet to come.

Theres something special about the connections and

bonds created with family and friends as you work to-

ward a common goal of this nature. Some of the bes

times of my youth were spent in my dads shop to-

gether torching, welding and grinding on parts tha

were needed to fill a void in a build and the conver-

sations and discussions needed to solve those riddles

Now as I raise a son and daughter of my own I long-

ingly anticipate the day that they join me in the shop

and want help with such projects. The curiosity

about customization seems to be falling squarely on

them boththeres already been discussions about

custom paint schemes for bicycles, thoughts of what

to do with this take off piece or that and the dreaded

    discussion of that first car.

The point is this; building mechanically with others is

an amazing bonding process with which little can

compare. Find a project, get in the shop, basement

or wherever your work space is and start building

something you are proud to call yours. The experi

ence of building to your skill level and challengingyourself to gain the skills necessary to create some-

thing worthwhile is what makes relationships work

Who knows that project you tackle may just end up

in these pages to be shared with others. The ultimate

sense of pride from being able to say, We built that!

or 27 years, the NAPA Auto Parts Show & Go at Brainerd International Raceway hasbeen a Fourth of July tradition for race fans and their families. This year will be no dif-

ferent, as BIR offers a full weekend of racing and extra activities that keep people com-

    ing back year after year.

Show & Go, July 4-7, has always been one of BIRs most popular events, and for good reason.Where else can you get mind-blowing drag racing, insane Superbike racing, a classic car show,

fireworks, live music and activities for the kids, all for the price of a single ticket?

One of the keys to the events success has been the all-in-one family entertainment componentthat makes it a great value. Its easy to burn an entire day or weekend for that matter atBIR during the Show & Go because theres so much to see and do, for all ages.

On the drag strip, fans can get a ringsideseat to some of the most exciting heads-updrag racing in the Upper Midwest. The firstone to the finish line wins, and that meanscars can be hurling down the track at over200 mph, with times south of 7 seconds forthe quarter mile. The best part for mostfans is that these are muscle cars rumblingdown the track: Mustangs, Novas, GTOs,Camaros, Corvettes, Chargers, etc. Every-one has a connection to these cars, andwatching them tear down the track whilepacking giant horsepower under the hoodis a real treat for the nostalgic race fan.

About 400 cars are expected this year, andtheyll be racing in 21 different classes. At

center stage, though is the seven Heads UpClasses, which are typically the fastest carsat the event. A new class, Outlaw 660, isfor quick cars that race on a 1/8-mile track.

Its a class thats gaining popularthroughout the country because the cget up to high speeds so quickly.

High speeds is the name of the game

BIRs 2.5-mile Competition Road Courthis weekend as well. The Central Roaracing Association is bringing Superbiracing to the track again, showing fans hracers can fly around the track on twwheels and a knee. The races for mostthe different classes Supersport, Supbike, Grand Prix are eight laps, but tShow & Go features the Three-hour TeaChallenge, where teams of racers take the track for a three-hour endurance raThat starts at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Off the track, a classic car show is Saturdin front of BIRs brick condos. A firewordisplay is Saturday night along with limusic by Junk FM, a popular band thcovers bands like Maroon 5, Weezer, TBlack Keys, No Doubt, Michael JacksoThe Cars and more. Junk FM will playBIRs Wheelie Bar & Grille no covcharge.

The NAPA Auto Parts Show & Go has ways been one of our most popu

events, BIR Owner Jed Copham said. Pof its appeal is that weve got so mugoing on to entertain the fans, even tkids. And with our on-site camping, yget a really affordable weekend with tchance to seen some great racing.

snowmobile racing on open water. Yes, youread that right. The IWA will be on LakeBIR for drag racing (first sled that gets fromone shoreline to the other wins) and ovalracing, where heats of three or four racersmake several laps around floating buoys. As youd expect, snowmobiles dont float,

so when they lose their momentum, downthey go. The Rescue Pontoon plucks themout of the lake between races and the sledis back in action in no time.

During the June 14-16 weekend, the CRAwill be back with more Superbike Racing, only this weekend racers will be testingthemselves against the 3.1-mile Donny-brook Road Course, BIRs original trackwith mile-long straightaway. While the Su-perbikes are flying around the track, stuntbikes will be wowing the crowds during a

stunt competition. Its Simply Street BikKickoff Event, featuring Whisper Perfomances 2nd Annual Midwest Stunt Fepit bike races, a dyno trailer, rides and a more.

    TURBO WEEKEND

If imports and sport compacts are yothing, youll want to be at BIR June 21-for the first of two weekends for the Mo

ern Automotive Performance ProviGrounds. The event features drag racindrifting and autocross competition, oplapping on the road course, music amore.

The Proving Grounds is quickly becomione of the more popular events on BIschedule. Much of this popularity is duethe drifting competition, where drivespeed through a course while in controll or sometimes uncontrolled skidThink of the movie Fast and FuriousTokyo Drift. This isnt just a spectatevent, though. Novice drivers can try thhand at some or all of these events as weVisit BIRs website for more details.

riders snaking around the giant hay batappedout in top gear.

All in all, a great day of racing on MothDay 2013 with all racers making it to tfinish line safely, (makin Mama happy).

Jendro took a wild idea and ran with it. Hesstill running with it, with a new websiteand big plans for his own business, ClassicCar Room. I wanted to get back to restor-ing cars or doing something with classics, said Jendro, of Cambridge, Minn. But Iwanted to do something different.

Clearly, that is what Jendro has done, andhes only getting started. He cut into to theold, obsolete pieces of the 57 Chevy lastfall, meticulously worked in his shop withsome help from his girlfriend and partner,

Jani Coffin, and discovered what couldhappen. Its a small-time operation withbig-time outcomes.

My girlfriend, Jani, helps me a ton, Jen-dro said. Actually, shes probably a big part

of that driving force. Shes got my back. Shebelieves in what were doing. She doessandblasting she does anything to help.

After several months of fine tuning his first

project, Jendro ended with a gem wortof bragging rights in any mans basemegarage or man cave. The mad scientist

Jendros head is kicking and screamingget out. The man can run online storbuild phone apps, write html code and nearly whatever he sets his mind to.dont know, Jendro said. My wheels juget spinning in my head. I dont know whit is.

After hours of polishing, wiring and fabcating, Jendros 57 Chevy entertainmecenter was ready just in time for a bgame. We watched the Super Bowl on ihe said.

When it comes to quality, Jendro isnt cting any corners, either. Among the colo

chrome, flashing lights and ascending TV, the entertainment center houses3D/Blu-ray player with surround sousystem and room for movies and games side the hood. Even a safety device prvents the hood from opening when ttelevision is down or moving.

Jendro doesnt want to simply make art. wants to make useful items that people cactually enjoy. If he makes a couch, a mcan bet hes going to sit in it and be cofortable drinking a beer or watching

    movie.

Ask Jendro, though, and hes not sure hhe came up with his whole new concethat blends pieces of history with modefunction. People ask me that all the timWhat made you dream that up? he sai

piece. After years of restoring newer-modelcars and tackling occasional classic proj-ects, Jendro, a welder and auto body tech-nician, has somewhat returned to his roots.

I just decided to build it and tried to figureout if there is a market for them, Jendrosaid about classic car furniture. From thefeedback Ive been getting, I definitelythink there is.

Others can believe that too, including Gene

Kohler, owner of Route 65 Classics in HamLake, Minn. He likes Jendros ideas, andnow Jendros Chevy television sits at Route65 on display. Hes actually the one whobelieves in what Im doing and wants to seeit succeed, Jendro said about Kohler.

Among the many classics Route 65 sellsthat are meant to hit the road, the televi-sion set gets its fair share of looks, too.Kohler uses one word over and over to de-scribe Jendros work: unique.

I like them because theyre unique,Kohler said. I think for a guy who wantsto decorate his man cave or home garagewith something unique, they are a greatitem.

Its just the beginning, though. Jendro alreadycompleted the 57 Chevy refrigerator, madefrom a 1950s fridge that was completely re-stored and customized. I just decided to dothe matching fridge because everyone needsa fridge in their man cave, Jendro said.

In late May, Jendro was almost done withthe matching, reclining couch made out ofthe cars rear section, too, complete with

heated seats, massage and foot rest. Plenof people would like to have one piececlassic car furniture in a room. But for tobsessive collectors, the car can becomthe room. Jendro saw that potential, anow that has become the focus of his prects.

My whole idea was to take a car, use tfront end for something, use the back fo

couch, possibly try to make a themed roofor your man cave, Jendro said. He is curently building a 59 Cadillac room forcustomer that will have a TV display mafrom the front and power reclining theaseats built into the rear.

So Jendro scours Craigslist, eBay and talto his connections, searching for junk pathat could someday tie another mans rootogether. More ideas are waiting to comelife. A 57 Chevy dash can be a wall shelf1950 Chevy pickup truck can be a bas

ment bar. A 1951 Cadillac can be a barbcue grill. A 1960 Lincoln? Why notking-size bed? How about the side of a Cadillac on the wall with 2 flatscreen Trising up out of the hood and trunk, thopen the door to grab yourself a beer fthe ultimate man cave?

The possibilities are endless. Jendro evhopes to build something special fKohler: a 1964 Chevy Impala desk, wirising computer screens and plenty of atomated gadgets. Im just going to build

and show up there with it, and of courhes going to have to have it, Jendro joke

In the meantime, Kohler will have to wajust not nearly as long as some fram

doors and hoods of classic cars do in sheds and backyards, untilpeople like Jendro find them.

Somewhere, an old junker hides its true face under years ofrust and grime. It may sit in shambles forever, or Jendro mightstumble across it, fresh with another idea an idea just crazyenough to work. Whether it be a classic or muscle car theirmotto is You Dream It, We Can Build It.

This season, Mother Nature postponed thetracks opener, but Friday May 10 was theofficial Princeton Speedway Kick Off. Morethan 80 drivers raced that night and fanspacked the stands for the fun night. Uponarrival people noticed there were bouncecastles for kids to play in and new food andbeverage dealers to try. The Princeton HighSchool Choir Sang the national anthem, there was a fly over by a WWII ATC plane, and the local boy scouts presented the flagsto the crowd. The crowd loved the open-ing ceremonies which got them excited forthe races to start.

The WISSOTA Mod Fours were next up torace with Kyle Thell grabbing the lead andRoss Mead, Keith Thell and Nick Jelaciebehind him. ABATE of Minnesota is well known forprotecting motorcyclists rights and ad-

vancing common sense safety initiatives inour state. But our proactive approach doesnot stop at the border. Last month fiveABATE of Minnesota members traveled toWashington, DC to lobby on your behalf atthe federal level. To call the trip a successwould be an understatement! We visited alleight of Minnesotas US House of Repre-sentative offices as well as both US Senateoffices. Six of those appointments werepersonal meetings with legislators. Theother four were with senior staffers. We ex-

plained that motorcyclists know what isbest for motorcyclists. And heavy handed

one size fits all mandates are not only un-American, but have unintended conse-quences that hurt all road users. As gas wasapproaching $4.40 per gallon, ABATE ofMinnesota members reinforced the mes-sage that motorcycles are an economicaland viable part of the transportation mix, cause almost no road wear, and should bepromoted as a way to reduce traffic con-gestion and conserve energy. And certainlyshould not be singled out for mandatorymotorcycle only roadside checkpoints, like

the ones that NHTSA funds using your dollars.

ABATE of Minnesota is working for you many levels. If you are an ABATE membthanks. If not, please consider joining asupporting ABATE of Minnesota.

The only traditional hot rod and customvintage show in Iowa was held the firstweekend of May in Du-buque, Iowa. Thisannual event took place despite theweather reports which predicted 100%

chance of rain on Friday. Add to reports ofpeople digging out 2 foot snow drifts justto get their cars out of their garage north ofMinneapolis and jack knifed big rigs allalong I-35 and I-80, event organizers feltthe show was very successful.

Many travelers who endured a treacherousroad trip emailed privately apologizingabout turning around. While the show is agood time, it is not worth risking your rideor your well-being. There were many peo-ple that came up at the show and apolo-

gized for not bringing their ride to theshow. Ulti-mately organizers were justhappy people showed up in the wind and

rain which had a wind chill of 29 degreon Friday.

Of those 535 pre-registered rides about 1did not show up. With additional late etries, there were a total of over 700 trational rod and custom cars on site. Tclassic and chrome section was only abo25-35 compared to the almost 300 l

year. It seems the classic and chrome gurefuse to drive their cars even if there ihint of rain which is understandable.

The Dubuque County Fairgrounds hosthe event, and while it was chaotic andbit unorganized, eve-ryone loved the nlocation and the city of Dubuque. The fagrounds staff went way above and be-yothe call of duty rearranging stages, diggiout about 30 cars out of the mud, and commodating campers. While the lin

were long the food never ran out.

The gate proceeds go to help pay for tshow first, and $5000 was given to

This year the auction raised just over$20K!!!! With the help of all the artists andbidders this was by far the most successfulart auction ever.

that make the show happen. With thissupport of family, friends, volunteers, carclubs, spectators, and most impor-tantly-hot rod owners, Vintage Torque Fest willcontinue to be the only traditional rod andcustom show in Iowa that matters.
