WHATS UP WITH YOUTUBE??
By; Ryann, Julia, Nikolina
We asked people around the
school what is up with
YouTube???
We also asked what are things

6 people said they watch Youtu-
bers who do silly things
2 people said slime videos and 2
people said really everything.
3 people said music videos and 4
people said funny videos.
2 people said gaming videos and
7 people said entertainment vide-
os. Here’s some back story on
YouTube!! YouTube was offi-
cially open on Feb. 14th 2005.
The first video uploaded was on
April 23rd 2005, that’s the same
day it was updated to be able the
upload videos! During the sum-
mer of 2006, YouTube was one
of the fastest growing sites on the
world wide web, hosting more
than 65,000 new video uploads!

This winter has been one of the
worst flu seasons on record. Many
children have been sick for a week at
a time with cough, cold, sore throat
and fever. Teachers are getting sick
too.
We talked to Mr. Gill, world’s best school nurse and he told us
some facts about being a
school nurse here at Bay Ha-
ven. The worst things that
Mr. Gill has had to deal with
are broken bones , 100 pa-
tients a day , and students
pretending to be sick (drama)
He has never had a student
have the flu, but he has had
students have flu symptoms.
The parents of sick children
have called him for what med-
icine to give their children or how long they should stay out of
school. His best advice is to stay home if you have a fever and
get plenty of advice if you do.
By Chloe Catalfino
You’re just about to
sneeze or cough but, oh
dear, you don’t have a
tissue. What should you
do? Cover your mouth
and nose with your
hands? Surely that’s
what polite people do.
But hold it! If you
sneeze or cough into your hands (and then fail to wash your
hands straight away,) you’ll only be spreading colds and the flu
germs on everything you touch.
And that’s because germs (as long as they stay
moist) can live for HOURS on hard surfaces such
as keyboards, phones and door handles. And not
just on objects – everybody you touch will be contaminated,
too. And of course, vice versa – if somebody else has sneezed
or cough on their hands, they’re leaving a germ- trail for you to
pick up. So what’s it best to do? The Vampire Sneeze and cough
is so easy to learn and it quickly becomes a totally unconscious
reflex action. Use your sleeve. Specifically, cover your nose and
mouth with the material in the region of your elbow and
SNEEZE or COUGH! Always wash your hands too!
What To Do To Stop the FLU !
With FSA right around the corner, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are working extra hard reviewing and practicing
their test taking skills. We asked some experienced 5th graders what the best tips are for taking the BIG test
and this is what they said:
1. Get a good night’s sleep the night before. You want your brain to be ready to go first thing !
2. Eat a healthy breakfast. Try to avoid too much sugar, it will just make you tired.
3. Read directions carefully, sometimes you need to circle more than one answer !
4. Take your time. You will have a lot of time so go back and reread, check your work, find your answers.
5. Read ALL the answer choices ! Don’t just go with the first one you think is right.
6. If you get done early, go back and check your work. Make sure you colored in the bubble, and answered all the questions.
7. DON’T stress !! It is never as hard as what you think, just do your best and remember what your teacher taught you !

Fun and Fascinating Field trips! Harry Potter
A Strange Day for Easter ! An Easter Poem By Reese Gibson, Third Grade
Freelance Re-
porter
Easter is on April Fools this year,
I think it is quite queer.
Is he going to do some tricks,
Is he going to give us mud and sticks ?
Is he going to use glue?
Is the Easter Bunny going to put it in our shoe ?
I can’t believe they’re on the same day,
Is it going to change my schedule,
In any way?
It happened 85 years ago,
I’m a little nervous though
I wonder if he’s going to put anything in the eggs,
maybe something with hind legs ?

New to Bay Haven ?
Hi, so you know April fools was on April 1 and so was Easter.
So I have some really good pranks you could pull any day in
April. Why just celebrate on one day ! The one prank is
spilled ice cream trick
This is what you need:
Ice cream cone
Play-Doh
Sprinkles
Directions:
Grab a small chunk of Play-Doh and knead it in your
hands to soften it.
Flatten the Play-Doh out to make the shape of spilled ice
cream, then slide one end inside the ice cream cone
Top the Play-Doh with sprinkles, gently pressing them into the Pay-Doh so that they stay in place
That’s just one example of one of wonderful pranks to pull on April Fools. See you next time!

Usually we say here in the newspaper club stuff like, “I already did that!” or “no that’s boring!!!” also, “I don’t want to” BUT I would like you to send us article ideas and things you want us to talk about. EVEN write your own article and submit it to us. The winning one will be put in the last newspaper!!! So go ahead and get a good idea and sit down and write! Make sure to put your name and teach-er on the document or paper. Some tips on how to write a good article:
And an introduction Give good details Describe End with pride –haha-
And make a conclusion! Hopefully you send us an arti-cle and don’t be afraid to share your ideas!!!
P.s: please do not give us inappropriate ideas. Thank
you! Pp.s: we are looking for lengthy articles not articles
that are 2-3 sentences long. Also, ask your teacher to put the article you wrote in Mrs. Walton’s mail box.

Everyone knows the one and only…holiday of St. Patrick’s
Day!! But, does everyone know the history behind it? Probably
not, so that’s why I’m here. To give you the gift of knowledge
(well at least the knowledge of St. Patrick’s Day). I’ll list 5 facts
about St Patrick’s Day and you can go home or school and tell
everyone about these facts. Let’s get into it!
Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick is a cul-
tural and religious celebration held on 17 March.
St Patrick's Day is a global celebration It par ticular ly re-
members St Patrick, one of Ireland’s patron saints, who min-
istered Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century.
Wearing green shirts and leprechaun costumes
on St. Patrick's Day are traditions that started in the 17th cen-
tury, when people wore green ribbons and shamrocks on
March 17 to honor Ireland's patron saint.
Pinching people who didn't wear green r eminded them that
leprechauns could sneak up on them at any time.
Saint Patrick is known as the patron saint of Ireland. Although
he was not born Irish, he has become an impor tant par t of
the Irish heritage.

Celebrating Women’s History Month
Some people don’t know about Malala Yousafzai. But
she was an important person. She was born on July
12 1997; she still lives at the age 20. She was born on
Mingora, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Back then
girls could not go to school. But one day she went to
school anyway and got shot in the head. After a long
time, she was better and she survived. Later she was
awarded Noble Peace Prize. Wow she was a great
person. She went on for what was right. I would love
to meet her.

Crafts by Chloe Catalfino
Spring is a time of new beginnings and
with the end of school getting closer,
you should have more time for un
crafts. Well I found the perfect craft
for Spring !
This is what you will need:
5-inch Styrofoam ball
6-foot yellow feather boa
Craft glue
Scissors
Googly eyes
Orange felt
What you’ll do:
Glue on end of the feather boa to
the Styrofoam ball.
Strat wrapping the feather boa
around the Styrofoam ball. Glue it
in place every few inches.
Once the entire ball is covered by
the feather boa, trim off any extra
length from the feather boa, and
glue the end of the boa to the
Styrofoam ball.
Cut out a triangle from the or-
ange felt to make the beak and
glue it upside down to the ball.
Glue two googly eyes above the
beak.
Cut out two feet from the orange
felt and glue them toward the bot-
tom of the ball
And…. You are done! I really hope
you enjoy this little craft.

Freedom of Speech
-Thomas Jefferson
President Thomas Jefferson once said “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb
and silence will take over.” So don’t be afraid to ask questions in class, and stand up for
yourself. Remember to be brave because nobody can take away the beauty of words.
Happy Presidents Day!
Colors
Colors express the mind, colors are what
make us unique. Without colors the world would be blank. So don’t be afraid to let
your colors show because everyone is unique, everyone has flaws, and everyone is special. We are the future. We are the col-
ors of the rainbow!
Home
Home is where I should be. Home is where I am, who I am. Home is where ever u feel free. In that case home is everywhere, because everywhere we are free. Soaring across the sky I am free, climbing a tree, absolute garentie…. I am free. I am at home,
I am where I belong. Home sweet home.
Different
Everyone is different, but at the same time we are
the alike. Our differences don’t matter, but they do. Do they? The uniqueness of everyone is what
makes us a family, what makes us the alike
The Story
The world is dark, the world is light. But my life
is the one shinning bright tonight. Life is scary, life is sweet. My mom and dad “eat me up” like a
treat. The world is harsh the world is forgiving. I hope everyone will always give thanks and be giving. I now lay down under neath the apple
tree, with my loving family waiting for me.
Music To My Ears
Instruments are special, they unleash thoughts that can be hidden deep down inside you. Instru-ments make music, and music lets out the crea-
tive, artistic vision of everyone. It may not in-volve a marker or color pencil, but it does help let out emotions,
feelings. Music can be calming. Music can be a way for every-one to come together and make friends.

I’ve finished
one of my
favorite
books re-
cently, The
Littlest Big-
foot. It is so good! The author,
Jennifer Weiner did such a
good job writing this. There is
another book called Little Big-
foot, Big City. I have the book
and I’m starting it. The book is
written from different perspec-
tives such as the main charac-
ter Alice and from Millie her
furry friend, and she is human.
Also from the perspective of
the bigfoot hunter, Jeremy.
Anyhow, Alice thinks she is
unwanted and she wants a
world that would love her.
Millie lives in a small village in
the woods they have to be
quiet and may not go out dur-
ing anytime except hallow-
eening or Halloween. Jeremy
tries and kidnap the bigfoots
and Alice is mistaken for one
for her shape and size. She is
called “freak” when the crowd
following Jeremy Bigelow. He
then says sorry and says he is
way too sorry. Since I haven’t
read the second one I will
hopefully have an article out
about that book when I finish
it. So bye for now!!!
p.s make sure to read the
book!

Hi! Have you ever heard of
Thomas Edison? Good, be-
cause that is what we are
going to be talking about.
Thomas Edison’s full name is
Thomas Alva Edison. He was
an American inventor and
businessman, who has been
described as America’s greatest inventor. You
are maybe thinking “Oh, yeah. He invented the
light bulb” Your right and wrong at the same
time. He invented a lot more than the light
bulb. He invented the Phonograph, film, Ki-
netoscope, Mimeograph, Movie Camera, Ta-
simeter, and many more. He also had some
Quotes one was “The doctor of the future will
give no medicine, but will instruct his patient in
the care of the human frame, in diet and in the
cause and prevention of disease” So I hope you
learn a bit more about Thomas Edison. See
you next time BYE!!
