What you know today as the
UCMDB!
HP UCMDB Configuration ManagerPolicy management
HP’s CMS enables configuration managers to control the high operations costs associated with non-compliant configurations and under -and over-provisioned resources by using UCMDB-CM’s configuration standards and policies to govern the IT environment.

What‘s newWhat’s New with UCMDB 9
UCMDB 9.0 adoptsthe BTO Data Modeland lays the foundation for a more robust solution
New UCMDB Data Model
– The BTO Data Model becomes the native data model of UCMDB 9.0
– This is the core data model for all integrations between BTO products
Scopes of the UCMDB Data Model
Discovery Standard
BDM Extension
BDM
Classes that belong to BDM
Classes that are not in the BDM yet but are shared by
several BTO products
Classes that comes from Discovery
field packages
Field Packages
Classes that are used by Discovery and don’t affect the other BTO
products
BDM = BTO Data Model
UCMDB 9.0 comeswith a new UI design that significantly improves the product usability
New UI design– Now a single UI environment, eliminating the delays that
users experienced each time they had to switch from one module to the other
– An improved IT Universe Manager that works with all functions
– Consolidation of the management functions New Integration Studio Expanded Modeling Studio
Data Flow Management:

New Accordionpane to accessall ManagersAdministration:
9.0 gives youthe infrastructureand the toolsto better manageyour data flows
Integration Studio – “Integration Points”For each integration point, the administrator can define up to three types of “data flows”:
• [Data] Population• [Data] Federation• Data push
Reconciliation Priority Manager– Definition of the priorities used by the UCMDB Server to
reconcile the Population and Federation Data Flows at the class or attribute level

DDMA z/OS Discovery
– The z/OS discovery consists of six discovery jobs –• EView Connection
− Discovers the various LPAR nodes that are configured for discovery in the EView/390z Discovery Client application
• LPAR Resources by EView− Discovers Host & Network resources on the z/OS (CPC, LPAR, CPU, Sysplex, Subsystems, Page datasets, Software, TCP/IP
configuration, etc.)
• DB2 by EView− Discovers DB2 on z/OS (existence of DB2 subsystems, DB2 DDF and aliases, DB2 databases, indexes and table spaces, data
sharing groups and members, etc.)
• MQ by EView− Discovers MQ on z/OS (existence of MQ subsystems, subsystem parameters, channel initiators, queue manager, queues,
channels, processes, etc.)
• CICS by EView− Discovers CICS on z/OS (subsystems and details on CICS regions)
• IMS by EView− Discovers IMS on z/OS (subsystems and details on IMS regions and database areas)
